What is the point of this when all releases are at least 3 versions old and incompatible? I wish I could use OptiFine, but I want to use a new version.
Well, the new releases don't really affect anything in the game, and you can play on 1.7.8 servers with a 1.7.4 client, so it's not really a big deal that it isn't updated.
I love this mod! Oh and before I forget to ask, how long will it be for a 1.7.8 update? Not forcing you or anything, but it would be great for a 1.7.8 update. Thanks!
Just a quick question: How much impact does Optifine have on multiplayer?
To be specific, I host a small server (running the server app, not mp from within minecraft) which I frequently play on as well. How much benefit does Optifine provide in circumstances like this? I ask since many of the benefits (controlling when the chunks load, for instance) seem like something that the server would be controlling, not the client.

Optifine has several groups of optimizations:
1. Control over when chunks are loaded from disk / cached. Things like deferred chunk loading. These are only for local worlds. These affect either the chunk cache or the set of active chunks.
2. Control over how chunks are loaded into the graphics display. These only affect the client's display, and ignore the cache.
Group #2 is still effective when playing as a client on a server.
Nothing in Optifine will affect the performance of a server.
Many things will affect the display performance of a client.

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

I would agree. Playing without optifine ain't fun!
Are there any plans to implement the CIT feature of MCPatcher into Optifine? It seems that this is the one feature that is still missing compared to MCPatcher, and is the only reason for someone to attempt an MCPatcher-Forge crossing.

Could everyone stop asking for an update, as if he doesn't realise there is a new version out.
You should all try modding yourselves, it gives you huge respect for the modders - it is time consuming and incredibly annoying when people hassle you to update.
Go and look at other mods in this forum, there are no mods updated beyond 1.7.2.
By hassling him, if anything, you will only make him want to update less. Be patient, and stop asking.
Well said!

Great to know! MCPatcher is a pain to work with, and Optifine beats it any day simply by giving Minecraft higher performance. Once Optifine has CIT capabilities, MCPatcher may be out of business. :3
I have the lagometer enabled because optifine derps for me on occasion. One of those occasions is in the nether. If I press F3 with lagometer enabled the white part (tick) will spike almost to the top of the screen every few seconds. Does anyone have a clue why this might be happening? Also if I hit F11 to minimize when I bring focus back and F11 again to return to full screen the lagometer shows the green (renderer) is almost triple what it is normally and my fps is in the single digits. It's not exclusive to 1.7.5. This has been happening since before 1.7 and I can't figure out why for the life of me. I have render distance at 6 and all settings at fast, fog off, and all video card settings to performance instead of quality. If you need more info just let me know.

Freedom is more important than health, more important than safety or security. A life's worth is not measured by its length but by the length it is lived with liberty. Freedom above all.
I'm having troubles with Optifine. I'm using the latest version of it and I'm getting chunk errors.
This didn't used to happen- it just suddenly started!
Here's some pictures of what it's doing:
sp614x, I've been using your mod for many months now and I appreciate your work, but I'm disappointed to be unable to use it now because you aren't keeping your 1.7.2 version up to date with Forge. I personally play with Thaumcraft, and the latest update for that mod requires a version of Forge much higher than the version you support. I haven't been able to get this version of Optifine working with any version of Forge suitable for Thaumcraft, and I'm sure this must also be a problem for many more mods and players. I wish you would consider keeping Optifine more up to date with Forge. Thanks. Sorry, it was my fault it didn't work.
I couldn't find where to post bug reports. I think this is a bug. With the faithful32pack texture pack with Optfine HD_U_D1, glass blocks don't show up in your inventory. They are sort of invisible. I reverted back to HD_U_C7 and it is fine. Note that I don't have the problem with the default textures nor other texture packs. I just tend to use faithful on servers to get a better look and not affect performance at all. Maybe something to do with connected textures for glass, because faithfull32 doesn't have that.
I don't want to bug you, but is there anyway you can make the 1.7.2 version compatible with ic2? there seems to be a compatibility issue between your mod and ic2.
