yes, resource packs can have custom sounds. It was even specified in the update.
They can replace existing sounds, but not add new sounds.. Which is what was being asked. I know what I'm talking about, I am the lead developer of one of the largest and most innovative bukkit plugins that exists, so I test almost every possible part of minecraft to find ways to do things.
Thanks sp614x and whoever else works on OptiFine (If anyone). It's an absolutely crucial mod for MANY minecraft players, Whether they have very new computers with fantastic graphics cards, or old laptops with integrated graphics.
For me, Even though my computer should be able to play Minecraft without issue, I am a sufferer of the Lag Spike Of Death, And OptiFine is the only thing that solves it. IT's EXTREMELY frustrating going from 400FPS down to 0 and then back up again every few seconds.
I'm not a donator yet, but yes. They are special. They actually show support for one of their favorite mod by donating just a measly $10.

absolutely and exactly. I'm a proud Optifine donator and donated to show my gratitude/appreciation to this amazing mod cause it makes my gameplay much more fluid.
Not that I'm being pushy, but when will the 1.6.1 version be released? I can't play Minecraft without Optifine, and I've been waiting all week to play this weekend. And I'm ed off when I knew that my Optifine is not conpatible with the new versiion of Minecraft...
I wish minecraft would stop updating so fast now, it doesn't give mod makers a lot of time to upgrade the mod to the new version of minecraft. I would say just wait till 1.6.2 to come out, but with our luck, 1.6.3 will come out right after that!
The reason why big Mod makers update their mod every Update is because he love his fans and when the fan pay him $10 he gets happy and keep updating it
I am making a mod that changes the sky, adds stars and few other things, and i want to make it compatible with your mod. Is there anything i should do or shouldn't do? Or if here is not for question like this, where should i ask about it?
I really love sp614x's work, but why doesn't mojang learn how to do this stuff? Minecraft absolutely sucks without optifine. I haven't even played 1.6 yet because I can't stand the lag.
I love optifine its makes minecraft run much better i cant play with out optifine or it would lag to hard
im trying to play but its really hard optifine is so epic
i also donated 10$ for a cape that looks amazing cant wait till 1.6.1 is done
I have tried this in a resource pack. It doesn't seem to work with custom file paths. I haven't tried putting that same path into the sound folder, though. Trying. EDIT: Test successful. As long as the custom file path (i.e. create a new folder, put sound in it) exists in the assets/sound folder in the application data, it will work.
Example: Create a folder named "special" in ".minecraft/assets/sound". Put "door_opened.ogg" into the folder and rename it to "custom.ogg". Then, put your custom sound into your resource pack. Specifically, into the path ".minecraft/resourcepacks/[NAME]/assets/minecraft/sound/special". Rename it to "custom.ogg". Then start Minecraft. In the default resource pack, place a command block where you want it. Put a button on it. Then change the command to "playsound special.custom @a". Press the button. You should hear the door opening sound. Then switch to your resource pack and press the button again. You should hear your custom sound.
You're welcome.

YES.
CLICKY?
It's the texture pack. Minecraft doesn't support HD Fonts, so you have to delete the font file in the texture pack, or switch to the regular.
Well, umm?
im trying to play but its really hard optifine is so epic
