I honestly love this mod I kinda wish Mojang would implement it as a normal feature of Minecraft considering how smooth it makes the game run thanks for a great mod

I code stuff.
Please ignore the name, I made this account when I was a naive lad.
Compare where you are to where you want to be and you'll get nowhere
Old And you are getting 61 fps?
i get 15 Fps At most
i barely EVER get over 40+, my average is 5-10... and this pc is AWLD quite a few years, no idea how many though but this was passed on from my brother a long while back
Why does it take so long to update optifine? It seems like most mods are updated by now.
Lot's of Minecraft's code changed in 1.6. Optifine has a lot of stuff included that need to be fixed, and some probably has to be re-written. It took almost 2 weeks for optifine to update for 1.5, so he's actually making good progress.
About the "how much memory does MC need" question, I tend to run out of memory unless I set it to 2GB; then again, I usually run approx. 90 mods. Vanilla MC uses only 512MB-1GB though, and rarely if ever runs out of memory.
For people whining about how "slow" this is going...If you think you can do it faster, go right ahead. I'm gonna sit right here and wait patiently for sp614x to do it right.
To all of you boasting about 100+ FPS...FU all. I hate you.
And finally, to those of you saying laptops aren't made for gaming...my laptop begs to differ, and it's not even an Alienware.
No the more ram you get the less you will lag, minecraft has to generate chunks with ram, I think so
That is false. RAM is kind of a 'if you have enough it'll run otherwise it'll have issues' sorta thing. Extra RAM can actually be bad and cause it to cache a lot of it to disk, incredibly slowing down the game.

What can be used to improve the fps if I have a laptop?
Yes. Resource packs can have custom sounds.

Exactly, I'm playing on a Macbook Pro... Yeah! It's a Mac! and I get 50-70 FPS!
I play on a 2007 Dell Laptop and I barely get ~20 fps without Optifine.
No they can't.
