Is my lack of a signature bothing you?If you said yes,GOOD!If you said no,FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Good thing Too Many Items is updated. Can't wait 'till this is updated. I just noticed how much this affected the speed of my Minecraft! Thanks for this amazing mod. Hope you update it soon.
NOOO!!!! I needed this mod, update asap i need my less lag fix !
You idoit. Modding takes time. You clearly cannot understand, nor have you tried making a mod. Do you know how hard it is? Mine was so terrible, I never even put it up! It took me a solid six hours! This crap takes time! And, you clearly did not read either this post or the rules. Also, it says you've only made seven post! What, did you register just so that way you could go across all the mods and asking them to Plz Update!?! I want this mod to be updated too, but I can respect that this takes time. When something is repeated alot, that probably means it was very important.
Thanks for making such a great mod! I love the way the fog looks, and all of the control that Optifine gives the minecraft user! I especially love the far arrow render; the old way minecraft makes arrows dissapear always bothered me as they will become invisible naturally due to pixel size and such... anyway thanks!
Update: I'm a derp and noticed that the 'Performance:' setting has a options to cap it at 120/40 fps. :/ I was kinda operating off what you had on your blog post stating that setting other than Max were flawed in their execution and weren't truly caps--that is, they throttle even when the ceiling hasn't been reached. If there's a way to rework that so it is truly a ceiling with zero throttle below the cap, and perhaps make it a slider, that would still be awesome. Granted, that's a pretty low priority given that there's a reasonably satisfactory (albeit sub-optimal) mechanism in place that does this, so yeah... I'm a derp. Shoulda dug deeper into my settings before posting.

First of all, let me say OptiFine is amazing and I have no complaints there.
I don't know whether you guys are just too good, something vanilla is doing, something in the command switches I use to run the game, a combination of the above, or something unrelated, but I've been running into overheating problems now. My FPS has increased to over 200, but my GPUs got to 105 degrees C before I noticed and shut down! The CPU temp wasn't far behind. I've inspected and cleaned the cooling systems, and the temps are stable with other applications/games, it just seems that MC now wants to run faster and faster until it gets throttled by an overheat condition.
I'm not saying it's OptiFine's fault or pointing fingers at anyone for that matter. I'm just thinking that OptiFine is the most logical mod to request this feature. I'd like a way to set a max FPS set point. I don't need 200 FPS for MC. That's well beyond the human eye's ability to notice a difference anyway. Being able to have the game throttle back when it's reached a user-specified "good enough" point would really help the heat issues.
Thanks for your consideration.
Just in case anyone was curious, here are the settings I'm using:
You could just use Minecraft's FPS limits, idk what 0 means in the settings, but you could use power saver. I think that keeps it around 30 FPS, which is nice to keep it cool. I don't use it, though, so I have no idea of the affect.
Feature Request: FPS cap setting

There is already an option to set FPS, sort of:
Quote from Options, Video Settings »
"Performance: <insert setting>"
Max FPS: no limit (fastest)
Balanced: limit 120 fps (slower)
Power Saver: limit 40 fps (slowest)
VSync: limit to monitor framerate (60,30,20)
Balanced & Power saver decrease the FPS even if the limit value is not reached.

You may do this already. Fps limit is fps limit-y.(this is the setting for max fps, power saver, etc.. in video settings) iirc
-Haven't tried 1.2 yet but will wait for update with optifine just to be safe..
Report obvious spam threads, don't bump them- thats exactly what a spam bot is for.
That's completely unnecessary. You could just do it with a texture pack.
Optifine already makes the F3 screen take less resources

JIC you want to work with them for compat.
