What's this 'chaining' you're talking about? Is there a video of it?
Normally in modern Minecraft pistons can only push other pistons if the piston to be pushed is retracted/closed. That means that if you have a chain of 5 sticky pistons in a row and want to extend them out to 5 blocks, you have to start with the stick piston that has a normal block sticking to it. Here's an example:
Retracted:

Two:

Three:
..BPPSPSPSP

Four:

..5
Five:
BSPSPSPSPSP
This wouldn't work:
BPSP
...2
That second piston can't push out now.
If you want to retract them, you MUST do it going the opposite way.
BSPSPSPSPSP
..1.2.3.4.5
P = Piston
S = Sticky Platform that has been extended
B = normal block
1-5 = Order Redstone must be activated in
. = Air or whatever
Note that this means if you want to have a 3x3 door, it is really difficult. You can do the top and bottom with extra machinery in the walls to activate pistons (or to have a piston coming down and coming up), but there's no good way to get that middle block in place. It's worse if you want an even bigger door.
If you can chain pistons no matter what it is easy, since you can just active the pistons in the opposite order to what I outlined above for opening and closing.

Can you edit this patch so that pistons crush blocks into items again? I have a cobblestone generator in one world but it doesn't go automatically anymore.
and one more thing: []-|'s FTW!!! (that's a piston)
And great work (I know I is hacker with diamond ore)

Johnny was a chemist's boy but Johnny is no more;
for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4.
A piston is either extended or isn't extended. In normal minecraft, a piston can push an unextended piston, but not extended pistons. This makes a number of things more difficult or impossible to construct.

That isn't the point of this mod. the point is minecraft will only pull ONE stick piston in a line, while this mod allow them to pull however many contracted pistons 1 block at the same time, vanilla is lame and requires an extremely complicated system with different O/1 circuts. Unless you rebuild instead of designing such a system.

I was hoping this would be updated! But really, Hippoplatimus didn't have to do it when we're already getting late into the 1.9 pre-release. He could have chosen to wait until Minecraft 1.0 (non-beta) came out. So be glad we can at least continue making those awesome piston contraptions!
Loving the patch! :biggrin.gif: So disappointed that the vanilla pistons don't already have it that way.

Oh boy! I have two lines of text available to me so that I can share stuff in my signature! Hmmmm... what do say what to say... Well I'll tell you a bit about myself then, though it's not that important, but I'll explain anyway. Hmmm... Alright, so i really enj-

I'm pro chaining.
I'm anti-entity launching.

Help please?
just drop it in your minecraft.jar folder, simple as that(BUT you gotta choose either the latch and launch or launch)
They actually take the code from this mod. But they remove and improve some features.
thanks
Edit: If you could, please tell me how for both the server and the client.
