Just a small update, it seems that since I've update my MultiMC 5 from v 5.0.0.46 to 5.0.0.54, the problem of the console staying open after I quit is gone, everything seems to work like it should...
Links to new builds are posted at the top of the chat room as a topic. New releases seem to come quite often. 5.0.0.55 as of this post. The update check in app is not working as of yet afaik.
Now it won't even let me go into my instances offline! I am just about ready to just go back to the default launcher because I am not a fan of DRM.Why does multimc have to go in the way of DRM? At least the default launcher will let you if you are offline. At first MultiMC had a great offline feature, but it no longer works after updating to 5.0.0.55. Either give it back or I am switching back to default.

Sorry but if you haven't noticed the default launcher has the exact same scheme we do.
You have to login against mojang servers to download minecraft and that will never change. Once you have it downloaded, you don't need to login to the servers to play single player

How about you try reporting the issue as a bug rather than jumping the gun and assuming DRM.
I reported it as error 69. Hehehe 69 but still, everything worked fine except for the fact that offline no longer works. Fixing that would make the launcher way better than the default.

DO you mean creating a new instance while offline? That can never happen... but playing an already created instance offline has never been a problem for me.

As of build 5.0.0.57, the offline feature still doesn't work. I don't want to report it as a bug because I already have.
I'm currently reworking authentication in MultiMC 5 anyways, so there is no point in fixing this since it's a part of the old system. Offline mode will be added to the new system eventually.
This year, I am thankful for all the people, who push all the buttons, to give me betas... XD

A feature I'd like to recommend!:
Importing instances from the vanilla Minecraft launcher. It would take the game directory and copy all of the necessary files / config options.

I think that what you asked for.
5.0.0.38 is quite old as far as build numbers go. Not just at you but all having any issue with MultiMC 5, be sure to check every few days at http://webchat.esper.net/?nick=&channels=MultiMC
