QUESTIONS: How to put myself in the admin group?
Are there Groups alrighty made?
Type setgroup YOURNAME 5 into the serverconsole. Like this you become Owner of the server (the highest standard group) to see everything in Detail, go have a look at the permissions.xml file inside the simpleserver folder.
Please read the documentation and try to understand it. Afterwards come back to the forum and ask again if there are some open questions... :smile.gif:
BTW: sadimusi and I most likely aren't able to answer on questions during the next week. So maybe some hardcore users :wink.gif: or guys who know how to deal with SimpleServer in detail can help with questions...
I'm having a problem with simpleserver. I enabled a whitelist, and that seems to broken teleportation, due to the fact that the Teleportation NPC are being fragged for not being on the whitelist. How do i fix this.
Hi, I'm having a strange issue with the Simpleserver I'm running on my computer.
I was testing it out and running around sorting out stuff perfectly fine, when suddenly I get in the server log:
"Simpleserver error handling traffic for 127.0.0.1".
Any idea why this is? All that happened before the crash was I started messing around with some redstone stuff from the mod Here, which I have implemented on the server and have been using fine before this happened.
ok been using this for awhile now with no snags up till today. buddy of mine keeps getting kicked every 15 min or so with this on the console when it happens
hey im new to this whole server thing, and i was wondering, since i downloaded the server thing on minecraft and have me own crappy server that i cant do anything, basically what this does is wrap it self around my server so i can still use my ip address and have the same world, this will just make it better?
also another question, i am currently running my server off of a seperate computer that i leave on the whole time, and i use my laptop for minecraft, well if i were able to download this do i have to do it on the tower where my server is and put everything into my server folder or do i put it into the minecraft folder on this computer..im sorry im so new at this i really dont know how to do anything with this.
also another thing is i downloaded the file to read the read me and all it said to start my server. so the question is is this program a whole new server that i have to mess with or is there a folder in there somewhere i just put the ip address and save it and then its running? cause it says to run launch.bat and if i do click that will it make a whole new server or am i useing the same one i was always using?....im so confused about this..can someone help me please, like make a video tutorial or something..
thank you for reading everything and i hope someone can answer my questions about this..

Simple server has a bunch of nice features that you will probably like. Go to the first page of this thread and read about what it can do!

You can run this on your tower. No software needs to be installed on the client machines (i.e. your laptop).

Again, go to the first page on this thread. There is a link to all of the documentation, including a step-by-step guide to installing the program. Simpleserver will download the latest minecraft server for you. Good luck!
I'm new to server mods and I'm a bit lost. What does a "server wrapper" do?
Mods change the existing code of the minecraft executable. The simpleserver wrapper does not do that, it intercepts the messages between the server and the client. This allows many handy features to be added to the game without modifying minecraft itself. Check out the first page of this thread and read what it can do.

Do i need to fix java on my end or is the problem on his end?
im running the wrapper with vanilla server on ubuntu x64 natty, he is on win xp (not sure if x32 or x64)
I also have a user who gets booted a lot just as your friend does. The research that I have done has not been to fruitful. There are certain network cards that seem to have trouble with minecraft. Try Googling that. Also, make sure that they are running the latest java. You might also look at what your friend has for RAM, and to adjust the amount that Java is using (see MANY posts about this on the internet).

I might thinking way ahead of myself, but is there anyway i could integrate this with Crafty?
I am using this Bukkit, and i would love the GUI of Crafty with the usefulness of SimpleServer.
By the way, love the mod. Keep up the good work

Well i did do some googleing and found out what the broken pipe exception is and its an issue on my end (whether or not its the wrapper or just the vanilla server jar is up for grabs lol) but whats happening is the game client is writing when the server has already shut down that connection. No idea why its doing it, but its deff on my servers end because i got some more people on and have a little more info to throw at you because the more people get on, the more often it happens including to me on my laptop lol.
im running ubuntu x64 11 natty with 4Gb DDR3 1600 OC ram and a core2 quad extreme. java is current (just uninstalled and reinstalled all java components to be certain of that) 1Tb HDD
original broken pipe buddy running windows7 x32 3Gb ram not sure on his processor
other 2 people who were getting broken pipe error last night were using laptops, not sure on specs but they are top of the line gaming laptops like mine so comperable specs
i was getting broken pipe disconnected on my laptop which is built strictly for gaming. 4Gb DDR3 ram, 500Gb HDD, 3Ghx Tri-core AMD Phenom II (I think its called phenom II not sure im an intel man so im new to AMD terminology)
I was wondering if maybe its not a problem with the wrapper intercepting the packets incorrectly, thinking maybe one of the files got a little corrupted one day a few weeks ago when like an idiot i accidently stepped on the power button for my surge proctector and obvisouly shut down the computer down doing so. I KNOW i messed up my router a little cuz i had to fix it before i could get any net connection afterwards, but that cant be this problem because its working at 100% now (uninstalled and re-installed the firmware)
Also wondering if maybe there has been an updated server jar since i put this server together and the wrapper hasnt updated it?
im having a problem running the wrapper. im running it on a old comp with 2gb of ram and the command prompt text doest go past the recipes and achievements loaded. when i run the minecraft server.jar file it says "not enough ram" i tinkered with the properties file and i either get cant allocate enough ram or not enough ram. how can i allocate the proper amount or ram to the server while running simple server?

Could use some advice on why this is happening. I'm running on Windows 7 64bit, and I'm using Eloraam's Integrated Redstone, and Buildcraft. I've tried this again and am getting the error message below in the log:
[SimpleServer] java.io.IOException: Unable to parse unknown ServerStream packet
0xffffffd3 for player Castaras (after 0xd
[SimpleServer] ServerStream error handling traffic for 127.0.0.1
[SimpleServer] java.io.EOFException

I had a couple of questions about SimpleServer, but after doing some basic java research and RTFM, I pretty much answered them myself.
I have to say I absolutely feel that I cannot run a Minecraft Server without this! Never again! I tried Craftbukkit, MCMyadmin, the plain server Jar, and Servercraft and none of those were as stable, straightforward, or powerful as Simple Server.
I recently built a machine with 16GB of Ram and a quad-core AMD PhenomII CPU to do some serious Minecraft hosting. My friend and I host two worlds on this machine, both of them utilizing Simple Server as wrapper, and the thing practically purrs...
SS has everything that we wanted right off the bat to minimize the endless hours that we already wasted trying to hack and smash plugins into other wrappers.
And above all else -- it's stable. Good god, you have no idea how many others AREN'T! I have yet to generate some sort of off-the-wall java error message or server message. I cannot say the same about others....
im trying to run simpleserver on an old computer with 2gb ram but simple server doesnt load past recipes and achievments. what should i do? the same settings work perfectly fine running off my desktop.
Go to www.pastebin.com and paste your console output there, then link it here so someone can help you better.

this is as far as the console loads on the old comp. what could be causing this?
Type setgroup YOURNAME 5 into the serverconsole. Like this you become Owner of the server (the highest standard group) to see everything in Detail, go have a look at the permissions.xml file inside the simpleserver folder.
The easiest way is to read the detailed documentation we made here.

If, for example, you want 3 and higher to be able to create/destroy but anybody to use what's there, try this:
The important bit here is allowUse.
