BTW, the jail command thats coming... can you make it so it can be linked to a sign or something... just to show the player (thats in the current cell) their name and the time left in jail plz! :smile.gif:
I would like to make exceptions per item/block on what a user can and can't use.
For example the nested <block allowUse="1+" id="77"/> that overrules <blocks allowUse="3+">
Practical case:
I would for instance like to allow only a button for players to use and not levers or doors.
This makes it much easier for me to prevent players from using area's they are not allowed.
Is this maybe a feature you would like to add, or can I solve this another way?
Also, should players be able to remove redstone/redstone-torches despite the fact that I do not allow them to destroy or place anything?
Unfortunately we can't implement that in a lightweight way, we don't know what type a block has. The destroying of redstone was reported before, I have to test it.
Thats unfortunate indeed.
But thanks for looking at it.
Problem is dat players kan break through blocks (especially glass) and while de system is being busy restoring the block item, in the meantime they can flick a switch behind the wall. And sometimes can even go through the wall.
I guess there's nothing I can do to prevent that except build very thick walls?
It's probably possible to activate switches behind walls, but you shouldn't be able to walk through walls. The block is never actually destroyed on the server, the client just assumes it is and restores it if the server doesn't report so in a certain time frame.
help? I installed it on a ModLoaderMP+BuidCraft+IndustrialCraft+mod_MpUtils server. (Started vanilla given that bukkit doesn't deal with BuildCraft)
my problem is that SimpleServer doesn't recognize or pass through the /weather command from MpUtils. I can live without the /i command given that SS has it's own give command that specifies damage. (i'll have to tell ToomanyItems about it though)

You can add new commands to the permissions.xml file like this:
<command name="weather" allow="3+" />
Additional commands are normally not recognized for the vanilla server, so set the alternateJarFile option in simpleserver.properties to minecraft_server.jar. And I advise you to use the /i command because it's much faster than SimpleServer's bot solution.
Looks Nice, but I have one issue: I Already have a Minecraft server.....I Want to Use the Wrapper for My Server, But I'm Not sure if its Possible to somehow add the wrapper to the server without changing the World file, the Ip, or Anything along the lines of that, If it is can someone Please tell me How?

Woot, that worked, thanks.
I did try the editing the xml thing but didn't realize it wouldn't recognize the extra command with the alternateJarFile option set.
so /weather and /i are both in operation now. plus: warps! didn't realize how useful warps were until I was doing without them. (have another server on the same box that's just a plain bukkit install with a few plugins)

SimpleServer doesn't replace the server but wraps it, so you can simply put SimpleServer.jar and launch.bat in the same folder your server is currently in. The complete installation process is described here.
I Added the Luanch.bat File and The Simpleserver.jar File in my Server Folder, and I Opened up Luanch.bat like the Instalation Instructions say, But It says "[WARNING]: **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT", And Then "[WARNING] The Exception was: java.net.BindException: Adress alredy in Use :JVM_Bind", I did have my Server Running when That Happened, Should It be Shut Down when I use Luanch.bat?

Is there a way to fix a chat formatting error? Because when people talk, it does this:
<[owner]Cactus_Master> sample text, sample text oh hai mist
er, what's up
dog

I'm pretty sure this only happens when using it with Bukkit. I never had this problem myself until I installed Bukkit earlier today. You could consider not using SimpleServer's msgWrap, and trying the Bukkit plugin TextWrap, though it's far from perfect.

I know its bukkit's fault, thanks for the link to the plugin.
I am using the normal Minecraft server program on a Mac (OSX 10.7). I am having problems using the SS wrapper...
When I open the launch.sh, it says "Unable to access SimpleServer.jar"...which is clearly in the folder with the .SH file.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I am pulling out hair, and I cannot figure out why it won't open
I FAILED!
I like this server wrapper better anyway!!!

Yes, you have to shut your server down first.
But Now when I Try to Connect it refuses to Connect
