Does Chunky's rendering engine make use of multiple cores ( 3 in my case ). And if not, will it do so in future updates?
Also, i think i'm doing something wrong, i've been rendering for 41 minutes now and it keeps saying that ETA is about 3~5 minutes. When it reaches 0 it starts over with ~5 minutes. It's rendering 2777 of 3000 now.
I'm pretty sure that it uses multi-cores, you'll have to confirm that with nrub though.
The ETA is for every 500th rendering image, so your getting from 999-1000 the ETA resets to when you will get to 1500 renders.
Just to let you know, the image is never 'done' rendering, you stop it, take a photo, ect. once your satisfied with the clarity of it.

Do you need my computer's spec?
I was able to track down the cause of this error. Chunky could not locate your Minecraft installation's saves directory, where your Minecraft worlds are saved. Unfortunately this seems to cause Chunky to crash at the moment.
But wouldn't it be smarter to just have a "Render image" button? I don't know, maybe that isn't possible but it sure seems easier (or i'm too stupid). Anyway thanks for this awesome piece of software.
What exactly do you mean by this?
Do you mean you hit a button and it fully renders the image for you?
Well the reason that the rendering process takes time is because your computer takes time to render such large images in high quality.

Im having a problem with this, when i start the program it opens a javaw process but the program itself doesnt start, i tried downloading a new one but the problem persists, restarting the PC didnt do it either, any ideas?
What version of java are you running?
What are your PC specs?
Have you tried terminating the javaw process and restarting the program?

But why is it that when i want to render a picture, it renders endlessly, producing an actual render every 500 pictures? Am i not understanding a part of this system? I used to do Cinema 4d a lot so i thought to be well known with rendering. In Cinema 4d you would just press "Render" and it would start rendering a single frame. Once done it would stop. Chunky on the other hand just seems to keep rendering forever.
The point of this is to allow people to render the photo until they are satisfied.
Every '500 pictures' there are 500 renders.
Each picture has a render. The reason it shows in 500's is because the default autosave for scenes is at every 500 renders.

It didnt work, i've updated it to the java 7 update 5, it still doenst open the chunky but it runs the process normaly. I have this problem with a lot of java exes, like bukkit servers, they open the servers normally but the UI never shows up
Hmmm that's strange. Try PMing nrub about your problem, I'm afraid I can't help any further.

I just released version 1.0.13. In that version you can have a custom saves directory, and if Chunky can't find the default .minecraft/saves directory it will not crash.
I am not sure what the other error is caused by. It could have been fixed in the latest version though, so please try the latest version and report back if you have the same error.
Wow. I was looking for something else and found this by accident. I've been rendering for hours, and I just realized that I have forgotten what it was that I was looking for earlier.
Oh, if you're taking suggestions, every settings page needs a "return to default" button.

Sorry but I still have the same error.. Is it caused by my computer?
Try out copy the java.exe form your Programfile or Programfile(x86) to the Chunky file. It works for me!
Hope you all can open it up=D also share some photos =D
nrub, have you considered adding easier software updates? Such as updating without having to delete your file?
The guy who makes the Mac bundles suggested auto updates, and he was very enthusiastic about a Mac framework called Sparkle Updates. There is a Java framework for that (called Twinkle) which looks like it might be useful. So maybe I or someone else will be able to add this in the future. I would also prefer if the Windows version had an installer, but I myself do not have time to add that at the moment.

Yes, it does. I even know of a person who has run Chunky on a 32 core EC2 node!

Is the download slow? Or just not showing up when you click the link?
Just to let you know, clicking on the link doesn't open up a new tab, it just directly downloads the file without changing the page.
If your using Internet Explorer, try it on Google Chrome. Vise-versa, this may fix the problem.

Ok, quote this post in your report so I can get back to you.
Yes, but in some cases it isn't noticeable to the human eye.
Each render, the picture goes more into depth on quality, which I'm guessing nrub used http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recursion_(computer_science) to do so.
Hmmm that's strange. Try PMing nrub about your problem, I'm afraid I can't help any further.

As I have said before, that can be done with other tools (j-mc2obj I think it's called), so I am not interested in adding such a feature.
