I just downloaded this, and I love it. Thanks for making it, I was about to resign to posting my save file in discussion and asking someone to map it for me when I found this.
There's only one feature that I can see that I really want added, and that is a render setting in which the map is color-coded as to which biome each area is. By that I mean each biome would be a different color so one could look at the map and see exactly what biome a given area is. This would be extremely useful to me, as my main world has no wolf-spawning biomes anywhere near my spawn, and I'd like to be able to see which areas contain the correct biomes for my needs.
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to code such a rendering option, but it truly would help me a ton.
1.) Do you have MCMap Live version 1.4.1? Yes
2.) Are you updated to Mac OS X 10.5.8? Yes
3.) What kind of computer do you have? iMac, Macbook, etc. Intel or PPC? iMac, Intel
4.) When you say "crashing your mac", do you mean the entire computer freezes up or just MCMap Live? I get this screen http://paulofierro.com/images/osx_crash.jpg usually right after I have loaded MCMap Live,
5.) When does this happen? After loading a map or before? Does any of the map show up before the freeze? Usually immediately, or a few seconds after loading MCMap
6.) Are there any error reports that pop up? Can you post one here in tags? No Error Messages at all :sad.gif:
That's a kernel panic. There should be no possible way for MCMap Live to cause this on its own. Something in your OS install is corrupted or you have installed system modifications that are buggy. I might suspect something with the video drivers, since the program doesn't actually do anything but open up an OpenGL viewport and paint a textured quad to it before loading a level.
No serial necessary. If you have an Intel machine you should really update to 10.6. Even brand new it's only $30 from Apple. Otherwise taking a look at your kernel panic logs may tell you where the problem is occurring. Use the Console application in /Applications/Utilities to view your logs. They don't always get written though, so don't worry if they're not there.
im going to report for fraud if this problem does not get fixed. i bought minecraft for my comp. i ran it and it said i needed latest version of Java, which i then got. then i ran it and it get me this code error....
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

i updated my video harddrive yet i still get this messege.... so i didnt get what i payed for.... i got a program that wont run.
Thanks for making this! With this, I was able to confirm my suspicions that my nether portal spawned me directly under a lava lake and right on the bedrock. .__.''' But my overworld is all well and good at least. ^^ Thank you!
well, is there another mapper for windows that colors by biome?
A releated question: can it be modded, or made possible in the texture pack to have blocks other than grass and leaves to be colored differently in different biomes?

Vanilla mcmap, Eihort, Mine Mapper, and minecraft overviewer all support biome coloration and all have Windows builds.
As for your other question, you'd have to alter the source of mcmap but it would be possible. The feature is not planned.
Just wondering if there's any plans for updates? Booster tracks aren't even supported :sad.gif:
Requested feature: Cardinal directions for orientations. It'd be nice to have old fashioned N,S,E,W available.
mcmap hasn't been updated since the release of 1.5 (I think Zahl has stopped working on it), so unless someone else picks it up I doubt we'll see any new updates. Supporting new blocks shouldn't be difficult, though; you just need to modify the colour values in the code.
The booster tracks should already be implemented, though.
When I issue an update, I'll do my best to add the new blocks to mcmap. The builds that come with Live are specially compiled in an XCode project I maintain so that I can statically link a universal binary of libpng and ensure a few other small reliability things. I'll make sure all the new blocks make it in.

About the latter, I meant for in game, not in a map viewer.
I was hoping perhaps I could have sand in desert biomes to be a little pinkish, not yellow beach sand.
Anyways, which of those mappers would you suggest?
