OK, before we, I kw ho to make a resource pack, have done it before. Now, here is my problem: As you know, minecraft added "resource packs" I made a resource pack for my map in 1.6.4. In the pack, I changed the record Mellohi to play a dubstep song, then minecraft updated. I updated my game to minecraft 1.7.2. I went to put the disc Mellohi into the jukebox, and it plays normal minecraft music. So, I turn on my resource pack, plays regular minecraft mellohi music. And I have been trying to figure out why it only plays my custom song in 1.6.4 but not in 1.7.2 I have looked at guides, I have tried to add a new sound, I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING! but nothing is working, and I can't release the next update to my map if my "dubstep roller coaster" DOESNT play dubstep please help
Then I don't know what you're doing wrong. Would you care to upload your pack somewhere so someone can take a look at it and try to deduce the problem?
BTW, Since 1.7 has a sounds folder can I delete the Music, records, and sound folder in the assets???
No. Well... yes... but Minecraft will re-download them for you.
I assume you're talking about the vanilla versions, btw. You should NEVER have ANYTHING in your pack that you have not replaced with your own work, sounds included. Minecraft will always load the default if there isn't a replacement in any of the packs that are loaded.

For starters, please delete everything from your pack that you haven't replaced. That's a BIG pack to have to download for just one song.
Second, look at your folder structure. That's the problem.
You have: "\assets\minecraft\records\mellohi.ogg"
You should have: "\assets\records\mellohi.ogg"
An extra folder is just as bad as not having one. It won't work either way. Remember that you have to mirror the default EXACTLY for a resource pack to work.
Hope that helps you.
PS. Remember that you cannot post packs with music that you did not create. If you DID create that song, bravo. If not... do NOT put it online for people to download.

now it wont work at all. it plays regular minecraftmusic on 1.6.4 and 1.7.2 WHAIS WRONG WITH IT! I did what you sadi to do delete the stuff I don't need, tn the structure to be /assets/record/mellohi.ogg but it wont work!
If that's what you meant, then I'm sorry but I don't know what else to suggest. Hopefully someone else will come across this thread and be able to help you.

Without the minecraft folder the resource pack wont work at all!
Did your Minecraft close down & bring the launcher back up? If so, mine does that as well. Still ain't found the problem
That means that your game crashed somehow, probably related to not having enough memory for that particular resource pack. Try using one at a lower resolution, or one with fewer sounds and animations and stuff.
Without the minecraft folder the resource pack wont work at all! Well, my brother did delete the minecraft launcher, and I had to reinstall it, would that effect this at all?
No, that shouldn't affect anything. The launcher and the game files are completely separate.

My pack only has ONE record that I chaged, and yes, my game crashed so much I had to install optifine. How do I fix this?

Kudos to samohtj for pointing out the solution to this in another thread.
Turns out the right pathname for this is /assets/minecraft/sounds/records/mellohi.ogg (yep, Mojang moved it again).
i was having a similar problem with changing out 13.ogg (no offence to C418, but that track *sucks*, being very harsh to listen to). Works fine, and now I just have to find more songs I want to convert to .ogg to use. :-)
