Maybe for some of the plants, you could have a rare varient that makes a flower appear to be pulled down from underneath the ground, or garden gnomes for each tulip colour.
Not a bad idea at all, but it really doesn't quite fit my pack.
So, this just happened for skins in the latest snapshot.
Words cannot express my excitement. And yes, the old skin format still works just as good as ever.
So, head... hat...And I'm lost. EDIT:I figured it out. The legs are on the left and the arms on the right.
@MurphyJesus, why do you have such fantasticamaze ideas?
Also, off-topic here, but youtube isn't 'load more'ing on my subscriptions. Is that just me?
Buh.... no.... wai..... agh... I liked the old skin format Now every skin is going to need all of these new things to impress anyone anymore...
The old format works, you just need to paste it in the top half of the skin image, like the zombie texture. Woah, zombies with skin scratched away to reveal flesh underneath are going to look way cooler now...
And i thought of another thing i want to start doing. Background elements by adding them onto plants through ctm. I've messed around with it before. Those weird pump-like animated things that occasionally spawn as a dead bush, and the elusive rose/poppy flamingo... I plan to add in random metal stuff here and there as extremely rare plant varients, just to add a few traces of past civilizations to the world, but i realized i could do more. So... i added some flies to the swamp by adding it into the random ctm for the tall grass. Observe:
Surprised nobody has said this yet, and I hate to be Devil's Advocate, but... Conquest (and packs supporting it's CTM, like myself and Matthew) has had flies and other "extra" blocks ctm'd onto Cobweb metadata for quite some time. *shrug*
I any case; great idea! Can't wait to see what other things you bring into your apocalyptic world!

SUCH EXCITE. Updated my skin already!
Also, while I don't have pics to show it, Player Skulls (and Zombie and Skeleton Skulls) now bound the hat layer to themselves; no longer just the base head texture! EVEN MORE EXCITE.

Took my idea, man! Haha, just kidding. I wonder if this applies to the pigman and zombie textures, also... Hmm... I'll look and get back to you guys on that. :3
This might make me create a few more skins. I already have a few ideas that I never made before since the arms and legs were mirrored. The whole layer system is just icing on the cake.
It's also not a place for advertising, but to discuss and showcase textures we are working on. >.>
That's arguable.. seeing how just about everyone here has an advertisement in their sig. IMO I see no real difference if it's above or below the sig line, as it's still in the post.
Oh, I hope armor textures will also get all these "hat" layers too!

Advertising in the post is different, because they're posting with the sole purpose to advertise, as apposed to also including relevant information in their post.
Basically, arms and legs are separate, and every single part of the body can have the sticking out "hat layer" (The one people use for sunglasses, hair, headphones, and so on.)
EDIT: Also, you can choose what hat layers to show on your skin while you are in the game. Which means that you can add or remove clothing, like a jacket or something.

Oh baby..
Haha, that's pretty cool actually. Think I may give myself sunglasses then if I can take them off whenever.
Your textures seem very dark with only a thin line of highlight in the center of planks. Also, not that it's needed, though most texturepackers here seem to make planks different textures rather than simple recolors, but it's up to you.
I love the dark oak, but the color of the acacia planks bothers me. In both vanilla and real life, acacia is quite bright. Why did you choose such a gray color?
I noticed that right after i posted.
But since i was half asleep when i spelled it wrong (which was probably why), and figured i'd just go to bed and fix it in the morning.
But well spotted.

There is a random ctm banana slug in the swamp mud.
They.....they finally did it
Hooray for actual leg and arm details!

Yes. There is also a "hat layer" for the entire body now. You can even choose which hat layers show up on yourself in-game.

Pink flamingos don't either

Time to make some dark souls skins!
EDIT: With the new hat layers... Only time will tell when they add even more hat layers! We could actually wear different clothes and things.

Individual textures for arms and legs are the main thing we're all hyped about.
