slime blocks' inside cube and outside cube use the same texture
slime block in inventory does not show the inside cube (unlike the beacon)
slime block uses backface culling (well, can't say I'm surprised after what they did to water for a while there)
slime block uses stone placing/breaking sounds
the enchanting GUI now has a different layout but the same file name (seriously, they didn't see an issue with that? So instead of just including a new file I have to make an extension pack for it to not be broken in the snapshot?)
2014 for Minecraft resource packs is already off to a great start. (sarcasm, just to be clear)
Also, the new stone blocks are going to be a headache for me to try and get realistic (if I even can). Granted, granite is fine. But now 2 other types of stone/mineral I've never heard of? I'm an artist*, not a geologist! What did jeb find those in a related article on Wikipedia? The thing I dislike about it most is that it's generated in game. Sometimes it's interesting, but most of the time it's generated in random splats in stone, just like dirt or gravel. I'd like for it to be much more rare (especially being more true about being near lava or something), especially the non-granite ones. It'd be nice to see more specific generation. *kinda
The only good new I can say relates to villagers. some of them have different occupations, or more so specialized occupations. Like a blacksmith can instead be a "tool smith". Names show up in their trade menus and change what they can trade. These "Specialization" titles can be edited by the language files! I'm thinking of renaming my "tool smith" to "engineer" but I guess it doesn't matter much because villagers still don't do anything, and there's no village-specific blocks, so you have to fit in with the environment.
I also hope MCpatcher adds in the ability to change villager textures based on specialization. I mean, according to the lang files they are different entities so it should be possible.

Sorry to clutter the post with my noobish tries at pixel art.
I like your older one more, though this one does get rid of the tiling error.. actually.. yeah I think I prefer the old one. Really there will always be a tiling error if you focus on one part of a tile, you'll see it repeated everywhere.
More swamp work. I did the grass, dirt, and tall grass today.
The grass overlays the muddy dirt texture, it's patchy and mossy and has little puddles of water throughout. It's 4x4 tiled repeat ctm with a few random varients added in.
As you can see, the tall grass is there as well, there are a few cattails added in.
And here's the grass repeat sheet with the random varients overlaid.
A few dead fish, a big puddle, and a banana slug. All of those are random ctm and rarely appear.
All that's left for swamps is changing the blue orchids to doll's eyes and making a muddy water texture. Then it's on to redoing the jungle biome... and i think that one will be the last biome that i will be doing specific textures for, unless i've missed any major ones. I could use suggestions for the jungle biome.
Murphy, I am impress. Haha, a part of me wants to do something like this now, gah... Must resist... unless it's okay with you... XD
Feel free to use the idea, i don't mind. I stole the idea off of nature anyway. Actually, i've stolen most of my plant ideas off of nature... don't tell anyone. Ever.
You could possibly make the enchantment slot vague and larger than normal; might look odd though.
Actually, now that I look at the new texture again, it's not as much of an issue as I thought. I was thinking that because of how default segments the enchantment slots. But how I have mine set I just added the level indicators so that should be good. I guess the 1 vs. 2 slots will have to be an issue for people using the snapshot (even though the levels will be there) until the new enchanting system is in a released version (like 1.8 when it comes out).

CTM does not work for water. Unless you mean colour.
What? Since when? I mean... i tested it back in 1.5 or so to see if i could repeat ctm water, and it worked fine. I've not tried it since the new format though... I need to check on this.
EDIT: I see what you mean... but there must be a way to force it to work, becuase i know for a fact it used to be possible. I will figure this out!
What about when they updated the lapis block? Or the food sprites? Or added the charcoal sprite? Or when the fixed the old cobble and gravel from alpha? I don't hear much complaint about those.
They've calmed down, but when those changes were made... You have no idea how many "old gravel/cobble" packs we saw just on this site. I've seen one topic with charcoal changed back to coal's texture, and there's still always the occasional "alpha/beta" packs. Those were small, single texture changes. Imagine if they revamped everything. Imagine that, times 256.* It would be a horrid display of everything bad that comes through this section; spam, adf.ly, thieves claiming to have been thieved...

It doesn't really connect between the bones, though, it only shows up on the bones. (And did I really read it wrong? Huh.)
@Murphy
I don't think it was ever possible... But please, keep trying.
a dirt texture I made (pixel art again) in that old school off-ish coloured style and repetitive ness ( feel free to edit this if u want), but ya I suck at pixel art ( new a day ago) but here it is! please comment and criticise!
I tried random CTM on my lava to have small rocks float to the top and slowly sink back down again at different times for different blocks, but that didn't work either. Stupid liquids.
... but of course, it is a snapshot and I'm sure the texture will change (assuming someone over on /r/Minecraft makes textures they like more; Mojang uses community textures a little more often than you'd probably think.)
Do you have evidence for that? I keep an eye on the minecraft reddit, and am not aware of Mojang ever using community-created textures since the pigman.
Come on, we all know what would happen if they were to suddenly change to new textures for their default textures. We've seen what happens every single time they change 1 or 2 textures. Heck, some people changed emeralds to rubies, and rubies were never a thing outside of Mojang. Changing their default pack would be apocalyptic. (For us.)
I don't think anybody is saying that Mojang should redo all the old, iconic textures. We're saying (or at least i am) that new textures should be high-quality to the degree it is possible while still meshing with the old textures.
Also, the new stone blocks are going to be a headache for me to try and get realistic (if I even can). Granted, granite is fine. But now 2 other types of stone/mineral I've never heard of? I'm an artist*, not a geologist! What did jeb find those in a related article on Wikipedia?
What a hardship!!!
In about the same time it took to write that post you could have used Wikipedia yourself or google image search to find out all you need to know to texture Diorite and Andezite-- which at most is what it looks like.

What I did with the new stone. I used my normal stone as a base and edited it, no it's not just a recolor, but a retexture of the default.
I have to fully out right redo my chanting tables UI >.< the style I have don't work.
Yeek, that granite's pretty bad.
I'm okay with the other two, though.

I really did repeat ctm water in 1.4. Old format of course... i have a screenshot of it buried deep in my thread. I'll see if i can find it sometime.
I really hope so. In fact, I really hope we can apply Classic CTM too.
What have you done!?
