Goddangit murderer!Did you not read my idea about the logs being broken cables that used to support the trees?
i did, but... drawing it proved problematic, and it reminded me of those dancing string tension toys. the ones where you pull on a string and they stand up, let go and they fall over XD
Let's try to teach him how to maybe use some shading next time
He's not the only one, i use shadows but not highlights because they always seem to introduce tiling issues for me. Ima try them in a larger resolution and see how i go.
I guess one thing you could do is try to figure out what you're going for. Smooth yet textured logs, or chunk-ish logs?
For chunk-ish logs, I make vertical lines through the texture (You may want to make sure they're not perfectly straight, but if you're working with a low enough resolution, they still can be.) and then make slanted lines in between them. Afterwards, I add shading.
For smoother logs, many just make their own method.
For example, my oak and pine logs. (Pine shows chunk-ish method, oak shows smooth)
Edit: For smooth do what you usually do to add texture. Think about dirt, sand, etc.
Everyone, I found a review of my first pack that wasn't a bucket fill or recolor of the default! I knew nothing about shading or tiling. Take a look, it shows that I was really bad just a few months ago.

Hey everyone! I finished getting to all the suggestions (for my texture pack) that arose in my thread. I am pretty sure it still needs some tweaking, if anyone is interested in offering some advice!
Most recently was fixing a tiling issue with my netherrack (I redid the whole texture, cause that's how I roll.)
There it is! Anyway, I am not looking for advice on that specific texture. More like advice overall on my pack. Of course, that texture is part of the pack...
The link to the thread is on the page prior to this (don't want to spamly spam) if ye wish to assist. Otherwise I am gonna assume I am just awesome, and my first pack came out perfect.
PS: "Peeton" that was a great pack you had there. And it wasn't "bad"!
PPS: I pronounced your name "Pay-Tun" Cause that is what folks should do for your artwork! (Ha!)

For your pack, I would crispen it up a bit, make more defined edges, but also make it a bit lower contrast on the stone. And change the ores, they are the one thing I really don't like in your pack.
As for my old pack, compared to my new stuff now it is awful.

Doesn't really look modern, besides the hills.

My wip 32x texture pack.
That's actually a genius idea. XD
I play Slave Hack, give it a try!

Yup! Can't work on it today, goin to a 4th of July party
Also, I changed the top of the lantern, and the rope completely. This is what I'm entering :3
The only thing that i see wrong is what the potion would look like ingame, but i havent looked to see if they judge practicality.
This isnt for minecraft
Edit: Tiled 3x3
There's yet more to come!

Made some wool:
There are five shades of blue, and three levels of saturation, randomly selected by CTM from this image. (Put on to a 256x256 canvas, of course.)

May I ask what "bad" is? Coloring? Style? (IE Ribbons)
Also, are they "all bad". The consensus has been that just the metals are a no-go and the rocks are okay (Diamonds/Lapis/Coal)
@Crispness
I will run it through my refrigerator!! (That's what that bottom drawer is for right?)
@Lower contrast on Stone
Which stone? Bricks, or Stone (caves)
Actually, methinks it does not matter for both could use some adjusting!
Lastly, Thank you!! And I didn't mean to hog up this thread with my works...super sorry!
