Thanks! Some blocks look better, some blocks (that I will probably redo) look forced, but this is just what I wanted. It looks just like bricks down to the depth, while the default texture is a hint of Minecraft still visible.
How long does it take for me to map a block? Well, it depends on which mapping I do. I sometimes use the filter mapping, which takes about 10 minutes to do at most now that I know how to do it, and sometimes I do handmade mapping, by taking what I found to be it's main 5 colours, and putting it in myself to highlight certain things, which takes about... Only around 15 minutes actually, unless I add in the detailing as well. But after both, for most blocks, I take it back into paintshop (because I'm more fluent with that than photoshop) and add the depth. For example, the bricks, I added the normal maps, but then I took it into paintshop to lower the opacity of the mortar (to drop it back) and gradually lower the opacity of the brick around the edges, that gives it the round edges as apposed to flat edges. I think there is something you can use to change it, but normally anything on the "side" after you add depth uses the colour it is adjacent to on the front, so hard edges look bad overall.
One thing I (already) found about mapping is that, the higher resolution, the more bump maps will take away from it. When a block is effected by normal maps, then... You know how lowering an image's colour count will make it grainy with few odd colours? Well, that actually seems to happen to any block that is effected. So textures with large pixels, like the default, wouldn't lose much with it.
I'm rambling again... Thank you! It's nice to hear it looks good to other people. This is just what I wanted, so this style of shading on the bricks and mortar, and the bump mapping is a good example of what I'm going for with the entire pack, so I hope it looks nice to some people.
That looks so amazing The effect the mapping gives really fits this pack, it makes the pack fit its name even more
Thank you! It's good to hear that people like it, and that it suits the name, which is one thing I want: a fitting name!
I have two updated downloads now, one with only vanilla and basic ctm for people playing vanilla minecraft or with a patcher alone, and one SEUS download with the W.I.P terrain_nh and lightmaps for people with the shaders mod that want the mapping effects for the full experience!

That would help drastically! I find myself making a lot of normal maps lately, but I also have a lot of specific CTM features, like partially transparent inactive lamps, stone slab pillars, etc. So having them together would make it great! Maybe someone with advanced coding understanding could mix conflicting files and make one patcher out of it. Maybe with the Optifine interface, but with the advanced features for CTM, better glass, random mobs, etc from MCPatcher! I hope they can be compatible soon!

Outstanding work! I just love how you did the ores, it makes them pop
Thanks! The ores are kind-of a fun block to enhance. I'm pretty bad at shaping them from scratch for unique packs, but with the shape more or less taken car of, I can focus more on the shading style and all, which like more and find I'm better at. I will probably have some more ores in different styles at some point, but I'm glad you like these ones!

Little off topic maybe, but sense you seem to have such a grasp on bump mapping, care to try and make a tutorial on it? I would not mind trying it out myself... even if my system would out right melt if I tried XD

I kind-of told Mini that I would start a bump mapping tutorial thread, so I suppose I ought to make one. All I can say is I am definitely no expert, so I will do what I can, but would need people to pitch in what they know about it that I didn't know or may have gotten wrong so it's accurate.

Yeah do it G, you have grasped more than enough to put a tut together on that side of things As you said you can call on others to add to areas that your not as clued up on.
How is this pack going i know you are splitting your time between so many!?

I'll try to put something together then.
For this pack, I manage. Mostly because I spend (... far) too much time on the forums and on my texture packs. I normally split my time evenly between my packs, but I commonly get focused on one and let my others drop back, like right now I'm focusing on Serene Scape, so Definitance in dropping back now. One thing I can say is that the packs I actually released are more manageable time-wise, because if I get to a point that a can release it, then I am enjoying making a pack enough that I will spend enough time on it. I hate to admit it, but currently, I spend anywhere from 2 to 6 hours a day on here. I need a life, I know.
More particularly on this pack, I am making progress, and I have some new textures, but I just never seem to release them. I find that with all my packs. I have stuff ready for a release in the pack, but I keep holding off because I feel like there are loose ends I need to fix, or something.
I'll update with some new textures tomorrow.
(One thing I will add is that I am pretty much trading quality for quantity here. I have several average packs, but... Then there's yours...)
Very nice, but I'm not sure if it fits in well with the theme of this pack. The TNT texture seems to deviate a bit too much from the original design.
I was thinking about that. I think it is nice enough to leave for now, but I guess I will fix up the paper texture to match the theme more later, and make this one an alternate.

Some packs with normal mapping IMO actually come of worse but yours is like the finishing touch to complete the art style you went for.
Getting the hang of the process now yeah? How long roughly to make normal maps for each block so far out of interest?
