I've always been a fan of Vanilla HD style packs, this one looks better than the others IMO well done. I also am not a fan of the pebbles in the dirt being so....distracting from the grass texture, I think you should continue I would definitely download if you decide to.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
The dirt seems like it will need to be changed. I looked at it yesterday, but I expected it would work like the cobble, when in reality, there were no definite shapes in the dirt. The dirt has light and dark shading, but there are no definite shapes to highlight, so I'll need to get creative with that.

Okay i've have a good play of the pack. The style is a little inconsistent in places even though it does carry a solid theme, which as i said is rather happy, fun and reminds me of Sonic
Cobble has a really crisp look and depth but stone is really lacking in depth and needs to fit IMO with the style of the cobble.
Maybe try to have the Ores like they are inside the stone rather than on top, they don't look they belong at the moment.
The stone brick needs to sharpened up a little to fit the with the crisp cobble, or vice versa depending on which way you want to keep the consistency.
Not sure about the grey stones on the dirt, they look too small and the dirt behind needs some more depth/shading as it looks very plain.
I think really, once its more consistent in style, you have a very cheerful bright pack that will very much appeal to people who like this sort of art style
The cobble was actually the first texture in this pack, so I started the shading styles like that. The stone... I don't know. Should I add some additional shading to the parts already done, and add some shading to the colours currently left unshaded?
The ores are one of the blocks that I don't mind working with, and I have an idea for embedding the ores now, so I'll work on that. I may lighten the lapis colour though, because in that screenshot, it really shows how strong the contrast is there.
For the Stone brick, that is another texture I don't mind working with, so I'll play around with the shading in that and see if I can come up with anything better and more fitting.
The pebbles on the dirt stand out a lot because I have nothing on the dirt itself, so I intent to add some. That will be difficult though, because there aren't actually clumps or any definite shapes in the dirt, so it will be hard to decide where to highlight and what should be raised / recessed.
I'll work on these, which should help with the consistancy, and give an update on progress. It's looking more like a "when" rather than "if" now.
Also, those screenshots look great! Thanks for taking those. In a bit, I may add another spoiler in the original post for fan-posted screenshots, since I have no final decisions on how soon a release will be, and since it isn't much trouble. But the screenshots also bring some attention to what you've said I need to work on, and it also shows the problem with pumpkins. Pumpkins look weird from most angles, and I mentioned bump-mapping support fixing it, but that is decidedly more of a long term thing, so I think I'll re-angle the same style so it is similar, but won't look bad from some angles. Also, sorry about that cactus, it definitely isn't staying like that. The shading is vastly too sharp and heavy, making it look worse than the default, and it wasn't something I ever intended to leave, so I'll need to fix that, put in the default for now, then work on a better one.
Thanks for the in-depth feedback! Really helps direct my attention to the most noticeable problems to improve it.

Well... Thanks? That's a compliment about both the pack and the shaders, so... Yeah, thanks.
I agree with you on that, I need a computer capable of running the shaders mod, because it does look nicer that way.
I don't suppose you're on the lookout for pack names? :3
Sure!
I wasn't so fond of the original name "block plus", so I intended to change it. I was changing the thread title (because I figured "looking for opinions" isn't a great title), and I wanted to put a pack name in the title, but I was thinking for awhile and couldn't think of any good names, so I went with the best of what I could think of for now, but I still would like a better one.
So yeah, feel free to suggest some names! I may be a bit picky, as far as picky goes with names, but I'd definitely consider some names other (more creative) people could come up with.

I suppose I could provide some. I'll get more later
Trillium
Tiny Cubes
Bits And Bits
Dawnglow
Summer Air
Thanks for those. I'm liking the direction you're headed with the "tiny cubes", and I like the sounds of the others... I have no time constraints, so you can take as long as you need thinking of some, but I may combine the ideas from some. I like the sound of ones like "Dawn glow", but somehow I feel like something fitting the enhanced and refined original theme, like your "tiny cubes" or "bits and bits" may resemble the pack more, so I may end up combining a few.

I like your work here. I personally love seeing those tiny pebbles in the dirt texture, and I *really* love how everything looks 'plasticy' which a couple people said they disliked. My favorite image in your screenshots is the sugarcane! It looks like you could touch it and it would feel sleek and smooth!
However, my primary complaint is this - the entire reason I deviated from the default texture pack in the first place... all the coloration in the default textures looks too washed out. I've spent quite a lot of time using Painterly because the bold color saturation looks more fitting for a game with non-realistic graphics, in my opinion. So while I think your pack looks great, and I love where you've gone with your style, I wouldn't personally use it.

Thanks. The sugar cane held one of the largest opportunities for improved shading, so I also like how it came out.
Styles are varied for that reason, because everyone has their own taste, and so you have yours, but I'm glad you like it!
They fit suitably with the style/theme of the pack, can't see any problems with the new menu
Showed a friend your pack on my PC tonight, he liked the wacky style, he's an old boy like me so could see what i meant by looks a bit Sonic in its looks ......

The font, I actually did awhile ago, but I've recently been touching it up, and I just did the buttons behind it in the menu, so I decided I'd show it with the buttons at once.
I didn't think of it before you said it, but since you mentioned it, it keeps looking more like some sonic style to me as well.
I'm glad to hear you're showing it though, more general opinions are nice to have, and nice to hear when they're positive.

How can I get the pack? I would love to take some pictures using chunky like SycloneSJS did
Syclone got the pack because I sent it to him, he's basically a beta tester. He got it awhile ago, and now I got some things started. I suppose I could send you a test version, but I would like to get the new stone and ores done first. I don't need to restart either, I just need to add shading to the parts of stone that aren't shaded yet, and add dropshadow-styled shading on the ores, giving the ilusion that they're embedded. I intend to do that and remove some of the weird experimental stuff, I did that already, but still missed a few things, like the cactus, so I'll do that and I may be able to send you a test version tomorrow.
Oh, and I guess I'll send Syclone an updated version at the same time.

I can take that off my to do list, I added some thin, sharp shading to the colours closer to the base colour in the stone, to add more depth. Here is the stone now.
Wow, definitely coming along nicely. I hope to see more of this, I'll keep it in mind once it gets further in release.
This texture pack + bump mapping would be incredible, something I would be very excited to see.
Thanks for the preview.
That pumpkin (yes, I know everyone is talking about the damn pumpkin) looks great. You should keep that effect in mind for when you do other blocks that have similar holes. However, correct me if I am wrong, it may look a bit... awkward when viewing it from another angle?
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
