The idea behind this pack is that everything is very, futuristic-y, and advanced looking. Basic designs started with ores that had a big X with a single line of 1 diagonal ore colors running through the middle. Now, we have started to move onto some more advanced ideas as my talents have progressed tremendously.
Ores will no longer be black x's, instead they will be far more intriuging as i step forward into the unknown world of 32x texturing. Most of my ideas are still forming on where exactly i will be going with the ores, but they will only remind you of previous versions.
The ideas of the past move on as I continue to grow more into the theme of this pack with it, more advanced.
Finally, another update. I have been doing some work for a modding group with some important people, and alot of my work was replaced because it wasn't up to par, and i then made it better. The stuff left aside from the famous modders i put into my texture so i could test them out IG, they agreed to release all the copyrights so i can now officially release them as my property, and not theirs, this is very good work on my part.
New things include:
furnace
bow/animation
iron sword
...and some stuff i have regrettably forgotten....
With the official update to 1.4.2, i released a major amount of textures, and only 5 % of them are mine. I was givin permission by a good friend of mine to use, and edit textures from his unreleased pack. These textures are here purely for the sake of opinion. Tell me what you think of them, what could be done better, and i will try my best. And if some reviews come out too well, I will just end up putting my personal spin on the existing texture.
submitted textures from pack "darkness falls" :cobblestone;mossy cobble;mossy stone brick; stone brick; cracked stone brick; circle stone brick; stone slab; mob spawner; all logs; all planks; wooden door; iron door; switch; redstone; redstone repeaters; ladders; floor hatch; iron bars; and enchanting table.
Sorry for my recent leave of absence guys, I recently started texturing for a big programming group and lost the time for this pack, hopefully i can get some new stuff up soon >D
EDIT: I see it now, you say that's Stone? Doesn't look like stone- it's more like redstone ore.
it is a basic startup texture for me to start with. i was planning on making the "red" a bit darker, and redstoen a very obvious redstone with nice solid red pixels.
new smooth stone design skinned over the default for the sake of an intricate background. and also, first ore desiges are in for iron and coal. lemme know what you think. use the link in the original post by me and download the file to get a closer look. i really need a better photo website.ahh,
ahh, i was just searching paint.net. and thanks for the new websitethanks to green peas, better upload website, that was quicker, better link this time...
I'll be honest with you. Right now, it looks terrible, and doesn't make sense. Try making your own textures instead of editing default, and use shading

and to be honest, yes, it does look horrible, but i only have 3 textures. and do you have any other ideas on what i should texture over exactly?! and i am making my own textures, thats kinda what a custom texture pack is -_-...i decided to get the textures themselves done before i go into details, i just need to get it started.
Dont texture over default, do everything from scratch.
^This.
When people say 'create a texture pack' they mean just that, no editing default, literally starting with a blank canvas and placing every pixel themselves.

i realize that the background of the texture i am designing is default mc, but once the pack gets going, then i will worry about that.. until then, i needed familier textures that i could work with. this way, everytime you mine stone, you dont get dirt. once the pack is underway, i will design my own backgrounds, if you were paying attention, i have already explained this to someone else.

How is this advanced? It has a terrible pattern and is edited default. You can't just 'worry about it later' because your pack will never get going of it looks like this.

how many times does it have to be stated that this is a "work in progress". nothing is set in stone. to be honest, this is my first ever texturing outside of designing a skin or 2. i understand that it is edited over default, but so is EVERYONE ELSES. and it has been going quite well. ive been chatting with all my partners on skype and within the next week, ill have 5 people working on this pack. the "idea" is there. now all i need progress. doku didnt just wish himself 15 texture packs, they took time, and i was kinda hoping to get help, not people who wont even read just one page of comments.
There's a difference between your first texture pack and your first texturepack realeased. Take time and effort and you will get there. Never release your first texture pack, read some tutorials and when you feel like it's good enough, ask for feedback on your textures.
They might say that it's bad or you need to change something, take it into consideration and change it. Harch feedback have never hurt anyone.
well, for one it's "harsh", and 2, yes, harsh feedback does hurt, but it also helps. and why can't i post my first pack, i understand what i "should" be doing, but this is an open forums website. i chose to do something, you chose to ruin peoples day.
Don't worry, mate. I've never released a texture pack, and I've been here a while. I never had the motivation to complete one. I mainly just browse around giving feedback and helping those I can. We all start somewhere, man. The first thing I ever edited was a sprite from Fire Emblem 8, and all I did was give the character a scythe. I'd say that everyone started by editing default, gradually shifting away as they gain skill and experience. Don't be discouraged by people, they're not perfect themselves, and probably started out like you. Think of it as tough love. You do something your parent/guardian doesn't like, and they punish you so that you don't do it again. Some people don't like default edits because it truly doesn't show who you are and what you can do. We've all seen Mojang's textures. We want a change from them, that's why we have texture packs.
Also, I hate the 'Don't post your first texture pack' thing. Why not? Some people's first texture pack might be an amazing, mind blowing work of art, yet you say not to release it? Man, I might just go make my first texture pack and release it.

I don't understand this, all I have to do is go in to minecraft.jar and copy it over to a separate .zip file. .-.
There's yet more to come!
It is.
This post needs an actual description and has to be at least 40% complete.
any ideas, ANY criticism, id really enjoy it
also, are there any reasonable websites out there for texture altering? paint isnt the most reliable..
Paint.net is the actual program name. Here is the website that you get it from: http://www.getpaint.net/
As for image sites, try http://imgur.com/

You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
