It all started with a friendly wager. Given our mutual love for simple packs, Peyonisgreat challenged me to beat him in a one-on-one simple pack showdown. In planning the details of our epic battle, we decided that the challenge would be more, well, challenging if we pitted our skills against the entire texturing community.
Thus, the awesome Peyonisgreat and the mighty Steelfeathers hereby challenge YOU, texture pack maker, to rise up and defeat us and your compatriots in the ultimate test of simple packing skill!!
The Challenge
Within the time limit set in the rules below, create a 1.3.2 compatible terrain.png in the simple pack style using one of the color palettes submitted by your fellow competitors (details in the rules).
What is a simple pack, you ask? It is quite simply a pack that uses color, line, shape, and design to flesh out beautiful textures. It does not rely on filters or detailed shading, and it does not attempt to look realistic. A simple pack is NOT, however, a collection of bucket fill textures or plain squares with outlines.
For a visual explanation:
The Rules
Take a palette, Leave a palette -- Before beginning your entry, submit an original color palette. You will then be able to choose from among the palettes already submitted to use for your entry. But you cannot choose your own palette. (Multiple people can choose the same palette)
You must use the palette you choose! No combining palettes or adding colors. Once you declare your choice, you're stuck with it. :]
If you absolutely MUST use a different palette, you must start your entry again from scratch!
Any resolution allowed, but simple style only. This means no realistic or ultra detailed textures. The most important things to keep in mind are color and stylization.
All textures must be your own original work, and must be created for this competition. You can revamp an old pack of yours if you choose, but do not simply copy and paste preexisting textures.
All textures on the current 1.3.2 terrain must be completed (minus unused textures, like the town borders). If you can get it in minecraft (survival or creative), it must be textured.
If minecraft updates for 1.4 before the challenge ends, you must include any and all 1.4 textures. The time limit will be adjusted according to how close to the end of the challenge the update comes.
The current deadline (barring a 1.4 update) is Saturday, October 13.
All entries submitted must include: the palette being used, a scaled-up copy of the terrain.png (so we can see it), and at least 3 in-game screenshots.
Super-special rule #10: In order to make this more fun for everyone (and to keep people from becoming discouraged and dropping out like a bunch of ninnies) if you want to post your textures, you must also comment on the textures of someone above you!
The Palettes
Chose one of the palettes contained in the spoiler below, if you dare. (Your palette will be added here when you submit it.)
I can not choose which one to pick! They all have their ups and downs, but I have a question: If I pick a pallete and someone posts a more preferred pallete after I have chosen, can I restart with that pallete?

You need to actually add your palette to your post.
Yes, you can chose another one, so long as you start over from scratch.
A more interesting palette for the mix. Hopefully this will make the challenge more difficult. Gonna wait until more palettes are in to choose if that's alright.

Ehhhhhhrgh. I hate timezones. It's really late evening now, and Doctor Who is coming on any minute now. The OP is kinda broken, I can't see when the deadline is. Is it a weekend thing or what?

Also, may I post multiple palettes?
Code is fixed now. And yes, you can post multiple palettes if you want.

Don't forget that you have to submit yours too! You don't have to chose another palette right away after you submit.
Obviously I'd create a palette for it and such.
EDIT : Probably not I'd assume. I shall create a new simple pack. Oh lord .-.
I've been here for a loooooooooong time.
You assume correctly.
You can add GUI too, if you want, but it's not required.
It is small. I will resize in a second.
Yup!
The idea is to swap palettes with someone else. Makes it more fun and challenging to use a coloring scheme you wouldn't normally use.
I've been here for a loooooooooong time.
Yes.
I did...
And thanks.
This will be risized in a minThis is my pallette
I've been here for a loooooooooong time.
Sounds good XD
Ooh! I will try using yours then (not for the challenge necessarily)
A more interesting palette for the mix. Hopefully this will make the challenge more difficult. Gonna wait until more palettes are in to choose if that's alright.

If they are part of the pallete yes.
Deadline is in like 15 days or sumpthing.
And could we just make a palette? I'm afraid I don't have time to make a full terrain.png, but I'd like to contribute.
Nope. And for a simple pack, you shouldn't be thinking about needing AA.
Code is fixed now. And yes, you can post multiple palettes if you want.
Yes. It can be sucky, but you have to make it (and at least try your best )
Dragon Dance is definitely not a simple pack. Go look at Bluebird,
Frenden, Xaiwaker, Mixed Nuts, Color Chips, etc for inspiration. And yes, you could just submit a palette, if you want.
Sorry for not resizing :l
I intend to use steel's pallette.
Frenden's pack uses a load of AA.
Using this one
I've been here for a loooooooooong time.
