I also worked on the door texture instead of the chest, but the materials from the door and crafting table will go over onto the chests. Theres some WIP in progress vines showing but still need lots of work on those.
Nice awesome screenshots. I am definitely going to use this one's its finished.
What's that texture behind the crafting table?
Thanks, that texture is the gravel as it stands at the moment.
Couple of questions guys as a noob on here. Would it be better to just put up for download what i have so far as a very early test or wait till more is done? I see the texture pack forum is a lot more active than the discussion forum, but am i right that the you must have a download in your thread for that forum?
Is this the best/right place for people to see the pack take shape, i'm not just talking techniques or discussing this and that.
In game, I find the stone looks... A bit metallic looking. Actually, I suppose it isn't too metallic, so I wouldn't change it.
The glowstone is nicely designed, but I think the gold parts could be a bit softer and should have light shading as well as dark, so it has more depth.
Still looks great! Literally the most realistic 64x64 pack I have ever seen!

If you just look for more attention for your pack, then release a little preview and migrate to the Texture Packs main forum. There is nothing wrong with that of course and it would certainly help you with this purpose, because over there is definetely way more activity than here. Though for the same reason your pack will probably get buried there soon after every post, next to all of the other popular and heavily discussed texture packs.
I for one like to stay here until I have at least a halfway playable version of my texture pack released, because my progression is kinda slow at the moment and I feel that I still get enough attention here to help me when I need suggestions or anything.
So again, it just depends on what you want at the moment - both choices are good in their own way.
You make some very good points I appreciate your input, and i think here it will stay for now

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the glow stone is not working for me it looks better as a texture than in game, the glow from the light emitting from it just washes it out too much, i had one with even more glow and that was REALLY washed out.
Also its 128x128, although with the amount of detail maybe i should of gone with that!! LOL

Oops... I knew that.
It's still literally the most realistic 128x128 I've seen. Hell, It may not be the most realistic, but would be the best pack in both 128x and 256x in my opinion!

Really great to hear such enthusiasm for it! I very much want its own style to shine through i'm not as keen on the photo real packs.
While you´re at it, sooner or later you should consider to provide a 64x64 version as well, because the majority of players won´t be able to play with a 128x128 texture pack. And in my opinion the gain of users would be worth the little effort of downsizing your textures.
Yes, it would make sense another thing to add to the LONG list
I like that TNT, with the sticks of dynamite visible on the top with the text.
As for the chest, when you feel like working on it, I think the creeper face looks good, but if you could make it so the edge shading on the two planks it is intersecting are still as visible as they are everywhere else, it would fit better. Right now, it intersects the two planks, and the dark shading seems solid right over the gap, even though the carving should only be on the face of the plank.
The chest itself looks really realistic though, I like the planks, how they aren't completely straight or smooth, so it looks more lifelike.

Ah, yes will get rid of the pixels on the chest bridging the gap, well spotted I will get the big chest sorted tomorrow with CT's.
SO many TNT's be done in various packs its hard to get something different but i don't remember seeing too many like that, but haven't seen a tone of packs to be honest just doing what i think suits the Syclone pack.
Just quickly wipped up a different top to see what suits more??
Just quickly wipped up a different top to see what suits more??
-snip-
I think the first one looks best. The pack (in the overworld, at least) has an extremely realistic theme, so the sticks of dynamite in the first are perfectly sized. And that use of text, being partially rotated on some, rolled out of sight on some, and straight up on some just looks amazing. I also find that the top of a stick of dynamite is the least recognizable part, so a more recognizable side, in combination with that style of writing that matches the writing on the box, makes it amazing. I would hate to detonate it, it's so beautiful. But, the urge to make a kaboom is greater.
The chest and tnt block both look good - or I might better say they both look all right, it´s just that they lack something interesting, especially the chest. So maybe add some details if you can think of any, but it shouldn´t be too eye-catching at the same time. The creeper face isn´t enough and also doesn´t fit in very well in my opinion.
I also noticed that you seem to have some problems with 3-dimensional objects in your textures, because the handle on the chest and the plank on top of the tnt box look too flat and more like they´re painted on. And the tall grass doesn´t blend in with the grass at the moment. It could be just a too bright but maybe it´s the texture, too. This is just a thing that kinda jumps right into my face so I thought to mention that.
Well, I hope this isn´t too much critique, because it´s just meant to help you of course, but there is also one larger thing that I want to adress. At the current state, your texture pack misses a general theme, which could become a problem, because I´m sure that you don´t want people to think "Oh, just another HD texture pack - let´s try and forget it when I find a new one." if they spot your pack. Even though it definetely has some really good textures in terms of quality, they just don´t interest me in a personal way. I mean I can´t remember anything that stands out so that would be a problem for me in this case. I don´t know where you want to go with your pack, because you could just want to make a HD default for example and that won´t be wrong, but from reading what you said in your first post, I understood that you wanted to make something themed in any way, but maybe just couldn´t apprehend it at the time.
That´s all, so yeah, maybe keep this in mind when you go on with your pack.
Never a problem having critique and you again make some good points that is what its all about putting you work out to others.
With regard to theme, thats not really as much on my agenda as making a pack that all fits together in style/colour, continuity, i want the blocks to flow and work together as they belong to this world, nothing looking too out of place. Its not over detailed but its how i want to see MC i guess. I've had quite a number of YouTube builders/servers contact me over the last day or 2 it wont be everyones cup of tea but seems to have struck a cord with some on how it looks. Prob why i'm putting far too much time into it already when i was going to take longer.
Noted, on the 3D issue, will look at that, its not as noticeable when in motion but can be jarring static, handles need more depth though. Some nice detailing to the top of the chests maybe a carved panel but not over complex.
Grass, is still wip but also its changing its plane all the time in game as it moves with Sonic Ethers shaders, need to tweak settings as sometimes parts of it are below ground.
Again I appreciate your in depth comments. I left the games industry when i was 26 and now i'm approaching 40 its been a long time since i did anything, so i don't in anyway think i'm some know it all. It's been good to get back on the saddle though and i'm happy so far.......
LOL its 4am here in the UK and the wife aint happy i'm still up! oops

Corner, seeing as you're very enthusiatic about the pack would you like to do a bit of testing for me?
The whole pack is currently set up in 1.3.1 with Sonic Ether and obviously is 128x so if your PC is up to it and of course your interested I wouldn't mind having another player running around my test map as is as a another pair of eyes as it develops until theres enough content for a release.
I would like to test it out, but... I imagine I could run a 128x128, but a 128x128 with the shaders mod is far too much on my computer. I normally stick to 64x64 and below, but even with 16x16, it has a hard time with the shaders mod. (plus, I have a really hard time trying to install it, it's rather... complex. Unless there is an easier one)
So, yeah, I could test it for you and leave feedback on it. But I wouldn't be able to use the unbelievable shaders mod or bump mapping (if your pack has it) or anything like that.
Thanks, that texture is the gravel as it stands at the moment.

Still got to work into them, want to put some brighter highlights on the metal areas and add some catches.
Do i loose or keep the Creeper face?
Any suggestions on some detail ideas for the tops?
Hmmm I wasn't to sure, I'll try without later on and add some more detail
LOL umm with the mood i'm in to get on with this, not very often now
Working on the TNT block now, need a break from chests!
Comments welcome.
