I like this iron ore.:) It's just iron so it's easy for the eyes to identify it quickly. Not like the diamond ore.
For the iron armor, I thought about a welder helmet. And the other parts could be rough iron plates made of several welded pieces attached together with lether bands.
Something that look quite unfinished, not fancy at all, if you know what I mean.

diamond is going to get a bit reworked to incorporate more diamonds. be it diamonds set into the mechanisms, or perhaps a crack with some showing inside... not sure yet. ill get to it once i finish the 2 remaining ores.
as for iron armor, i like that idea. i think ill do just that. but i definately want to keep the helmet as that weird full-face tophat i came up with. it will be iron, with rivets, and comes down to the neck, and it will have eye holes with goggles. it sounds weird, but looks pretty cool... at least how i imagine it.
Edit: 'Been thinking about names, some. The one thing that I could come up with that wasn't "Steamcraft" or "Surcraft" or anything like that was "SteamReal". Which kind of implies that it's photorealistic. But, that was the best I could do. At least it's memorable .
i was actually thinking about calling it... something along the lines of "Anachronism" that will be at least *part* of the name. Broken Anachronism?

Let's hope you can put your imagination in the game then, eh?
Now, some criticism, or unbridled flattery. Your Ideas: Wood colors- I really can't see much fault with this. The paint probably shouldn't be very far off of the base color of wood, however. Marble -as a replacement for cobble- I actually kind of enjoy the cobble texture that you have going now, but maybe a screenshot of the 'Cracked Marble' could change that. as a replacement for wool- I find this slightly more acceptable in my brain, but that doesn't say all that much. For example, how would sheep look as marble behemoths? And would you be sleeping on a slab of marble? Stone Bricks and Nether Brick- (Nether Brick) As rusted metal, how would that fit in with the rest of the Nether? Would the Nether be some sort of industrial wasteland? It seems likely, what with lava planned to be molten metal and all. Windows- I look forward to seeing what you come up with for these. Brewing stand- What will the potions be? Funny colored coffee? Not mocking, genuinely curious. Paintings- The coffee paintings, I think, would do nicely. Mobs- As stated before, fairly standard. Marble behemoths as sheep would be interesting too. Trees- *cough* definitely *cough*. Twisted-looking. Hm. I would say swamp trees, if they had their own texture. But, since they dont, I'll say birch trees. I really, really, really loathe the standard birch texture. Tools- Gotta have something steam-powered. And, yes, yes, and yes. Redstone- Or something like the bottom of a cupcake tin, extended. GEARS!- Sounds good, and maybe a few on the arm of the piston as well? Or just on the piston in general. Water and Lava- No, you don't. I wont blame you. Pinkie promise. Food- Hm. The furnace would have to be something like a stove to justify that. Spider Eyes- If you can, do it! That would be great. Bricks- Watching to see how these turn out. Ores- All of these look great. Pigs- Yes, SamIAm. I sure do love green eggs and ham!
The Name: "Broken Anachronism"
Dang. I had to look that up. It's both memorable, attention-grabbing, and it pretty much describes the pack. For what it's worth, the Dodo approves!
I love what you have done, but try to blend the ores better. I am looking forward to see more from this pack!
could you explain that a bit more? i don't understand... if you are thinking they have seams, that's actually just the lighting causing it, because its indoors and lit by torches. everything has light seams in there (but not outside)
or did you mean something different? putting them in the rock better? (as in shading the rock behind it more?)
suddenly i had a very strong mental image... an evil red creeper face. so i had to do it before i forgot. this guy will also be wearing a very classy vest covered in dynamite when he's done.
I had an idea for this texture pack. So the idea is on the surface of the world the world will be all natural like its untouched by civilization (so highly saturated greens for leaves and grass deep blue colour for water etc.) but as you dive deeper into the world that is when you start to find the remnants of the steampunk civilisation that came before. So its like you are peeling away a mystery. The idea is natural things like trees and stuff will have a very primitive feel and when things like iron red stone and even diamond become available the base and worlds feel becomes much more technologically advanced. I dont know just me thinking. I think this texture pack will be great btw!

well, that is a good idea for a texture pack in general, but not this one. this one will have a more apocalyptic feel to it.
redstone wire... it is copper pipes full of pressurized steam to power things.
left is inactive, right is active, and emitting puffs of steam.
im planning some sort of steam gauge with a red pressure overload light as the redstone torch.
Redstone truly looks great. I do notice, however, that the corners on the non-connected pipes are a bit sharp. It is my personal opinion that it would looks a tiny bit better if the sides were smoother, more rounded. Is there a way to change it without messing up the rest of the redstone texture?
Edit: The creeper scares the crap out of me. Good show.

and yes, the eyes were inspired by cuttlefish.
This creeper head is great. I love it. You are very talented. I'm jealous.
Do you intend to support randomob ?

nothing i can do to smooth out the corners... the way that texture works is i make a + shaped 4 way corner and minecraft just cuts off the sides automatically where they aren't needed.
It's redstone wire so it has to be bright I think. At least when it's powered. So maybe make it less colorful in unpowered state.

im using the redstone overlay as my entire redstone texture (hence how i have it in multiple colors) if i made it the actual redstone that lights up when powered, my texture would just appear grayscale, as ive set the redstone color to white so the particles are white... you know, for steam. redstone overlay wont change color sadly, but since they are just steam pipes, they dont really need to. they just need to spout lots of steam, which they do, and will even more once i make the particle effect.
and yes, i do plan to support randommobs. maybe not right away, because mobs are increadibly time consuming to skin, so maybe when i release the pack there will be one skin per mob, but ill definately make more in the future. they may take forever, but i do enjoy skinning mobs more than any other texture. id like to have more traditional green creepers in there too, but just probably not right away. that creeper though... i worked on it 14 hours solid yesterday, and its still not finished. the face only took about 2 hours, the vest gave me some trouble, but that's nearly done, all i need to do now is the wiring on the dynamite it's wearing, a bit of blending at the seam, and make something for the feet, and it will be done!

Allrighty, fair enough. Can't wait to see the rest of the creeper, by the way. Both me and siblings were absolutely terrified by the head alone.

just wait till you see the bomb vest XD
also, ive improved the head a bit. the teeth stick out a bit in the screenshot making it look like they are just painted on, rather than inset. i did some shading.

i was thinking about desaturating it by about 20% (so its only 80% as colorful as it is now) looks a bit bright to me.
