Once upon a time, when I had a terrible laptop that could barely run Minecraft, I lazily threw together a "texture pack" by essentially rubbing a layer of transparent grey pixels on everything. It was pretty much my first texture pack, and yes - it's terrible. Later on (with better hardware) I began to recreate it by putting together essentially what could be described as "HD Grungy Default", but after finding a project doing something similar, I gave it up.
Anyway, the original post is below. It's embarrassing, but I'd rather keep it around than leave an empty original post.
Ever feel like Minecraft is just too... Clean? It makes no sense, the world is dirty, what gives? Wait... You say you like clean texture packs? I guess this isn't for you, then. Move along.
...
You didn't leave? But I thought-... Nevermind, let me tell you about Gritcraft! Gritcraft takes your average, boring Minecraft world textures and then rubs a stack of wet coal all over it, simulating the level of filth found in the real world. From how that sounds, you probably think this texture pack is uglier than your grandmother's hindquarters, but in reality, it's quite the opposite! The extra layer adds a certain depth to the normally stale default textures, and brings out each block. It's like a mudbath for your world, exfoliating the pixels and reinvigorating your gameplay experience!
Here's some screenshots. I heard you like screenshots. :>
An HD patch is *not* required to use this pack!
How to use:
Download the latest Gritcraft .zip file. (<--- That's a link, by the way.)
Open your texture packs folder. (Either through the client or in your .minecraft folder)
Drop the .zip inside the texture packs folder. (Do not unzip it)
Select the texture pack in the client's texture pack list.
Enjoy!
What you may and may not do with this texture pack:
You MAY alter this pack for your personal use.
You MAY redistribute this pack elsewhere ONLY if you link back to this thread.
You MAY NOT claim to have created this pack. (Obviously)
You MAY NOT redistribute an edited version of this pack without permission and a link back to this thread. If you think, even for a moment that you need to ask about anything you want to do to/with this pack, but are unsure if you should ask, ask. I'd rather you be safe then end up causing trouble, besides, I don't bite.
This actually looks pretty good, well done.
I enjoy the amount of personality in the OP. :tongue.gif:
Welcome to the forums, by the way. :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, thanks, and thanks. xD I enjoyed writing it up, I just wish the guys over at dev.bukkit.org were a bit faster about handling their stuff. In the end I may just opt-out of having the main links hosted from there.

You could always just upload it to Mediafire. o: No registration required or anything, and you get to track your download count!
On another note, first pack and not a single error in sight. Someone's read stickies/tutorials. :tongue.gif:

xD I'm a fast editor, I was missing the 'what you may/may not do section at first, and I was missing a working download link.
I actually really don't care for Mediafire, too slow, too many popups. I generally use hidemyass.com, which in my opinion is much better.
The main reason I want to use dev.bukkit is because I can then just link people to an automatically updating list, where each iteration of the pack has a changelog all it's own. Then again, I'd have to come back and edit this thread every Minecraft version release or any time I update it anyway to let people here know, so it doesn't especially matter either way.

Well, I didn't have a DL link on my pack in the first two days, sue me. :tongue.gif:
Ahh, popups.. I use adblocker, so I forgot ads and popups even exist, lol.

IDK how to describe, you changed the normal texture pack somehow, you perfectionised it. You changed the texture pack without removing the real minecraft feeling. Very well job!
also ur profile pic is so cute <3
Thanks! I used to typically play around with just the default textures, or occasionally I'd mess around with SMP's Revival or Jolicraft, so after a while the default textures started to feel boring, and in the end this was the result!
EDIT: Okay! Next update will include two different versions, Gritcraft Classic (Which will be how the pack is now) and Gritcraft Plain, which will have a slightly different appearance and will tile seamlessly.
The download doesn't work anymore, so I did some Googling and found the Beta 1.8 version of the texture pack. I uploaded it to MediaFire so that anyone who comes across this post like I did can get a copy of the texture pack or possibly continue the pack since it has been abandoned.

Welcome to the forums, by the way.
I agree completely!
P.S. Can I make an updated 1.6.4 Resource Pack out of this? I'd love to! I'd give you credit for the original pack, links, approval before posting, etc. So whattaya say? Send me a PM if it's okay with you.

And thank you, I think it's cute too. x3
Thanks. ;D
Also, if that image there is your ingame skin, you're pretty win too. xD
