Hope this isn't too much to ask, but would it be possible for you to add the CIT to the 1.5 version of MCPatcher? Thanks.
And thanks so much for the CIT configs, figured out how to replace an Invisibility potion with the One Ring from LotR. This was the first mod I could find for changing item textures for 1.6 (and ever made for Minecraft), but the post I had earlier was talking about the 1.5 version, since I hadn't thought about trying to use the 1.6 snapshot version.

It occurs when I switch textures. My skin turns weird colors, doesn't affect the game, until I save and try to join any world save.
Does anyone have a problem with better skies? I have a skybox in my texture pack and it works fine for a few minutes, but it sometimes turns white, as in the entire sky. Does anyone know what this could be? The properties files are all to the right .png, im just unsure of why this is happening
Judging from Misa's thread, where that question pops up somehow frequently because her skybox texture is gigantic (in terms of size), you're most likely running out of graphics memory and the game can't get the skybox loaded anymore, so the sky loses its texture and turns white. That's even possible with a good computer that can run the game fine otherwise, because Better Skies takes a LOT more graphics power than the rest of MCPatcher's features.
After spending much time recently working with BetterSkies I would agree with this.
I've caught another bug with MCPatcher, it is messing up lots of textures. Download the Conquest texturepack by Monsterfish and place a sideways birch log facing east to west. This is only one example of it if you compare it to the birch log facing north to south. Also, it messes up other wood textures too. I don't have this problem with OptiFine, but I don't like it because it lowers my FPS.
Edit: Just tested, and it seems to have something to do with the "standard blocks" option. Will report it to Monsterfish too.
Well, I can't get my head round all the changes the latest MC snapshot brings. Utterly confusing, and I can't make head nor tail of the '.mcmeta' files which accompany block and item animations in my Mojang converted texture pack.
I for one will be dependent on you being able to convert things, but even with my limited knowledge I can see you've really got your work cut out, kahr. Where you find the patience is a mystery, but I hope you manage it yet again.
I'm assuming it's not just me now that can't access previous snapshot versions from the 'version selection' box in the latest launcher?

They're not that hard. It's pretty simple markup that can be edited with Notepad++. Actually it's pretty much what we're used to, but with needlessly complex headers.
Yea, no clue why they did it that way instead of having Minecraft add its own formatting like they've done so far.

I second this. Kahr, I know there's probably not much I can do to help you, but if you think of anything don't hesitate to ask.
I'm assuming it's not just me now that can't access previous snapshot versions from the 'version selection' box in the latest launcher?
That system also got convoluted, but it's still possible.
From the launcher, go to the Profile Editor tab. Right-click on the default profile, and select copy. Another dialogue box will come up, allowing you to name the new profile. There's also a drop-down box that allows you to select from all versions you've loaded previously, including any that MCPatcher has created. Select the one you want, and click OK. You can now select that profile where you previously selected your version on the main screen.
It's like Magic Launcher... only significantly less useful than Magic Launcher!

Use of Notepad++ made a lot more sense of things. Thanks for the tip, though I still shiver at nested brackets and other such magical sigils!

Ah, never tried this, as up 'till now everything worked pretty smoothly. However, after successfully following all the above instructions the launcher crashes out with the final line stating:
"Can't run version, missing minecraftArguments Deleting"
There were no problems with getting earlier versions listed in the 'Version Selection Profile' box, no probs with login either, just won't actually launch an older version. I'll just flit between 1.5.2 and the latest snapshot for fun and editing purposes, until Mojang get their act together for the final release, but many thanks for the help.

Yea, the new system is not artist-friendly. I'm not feeling too bad because I do a little bit of Javascript, so the markup isn't hard for me. I can see a lot of other people getting scared and not wanting to deal with it, though. Again, I have no idea why they went with this format, especially because Minecraft could just as easily add its own stupid brackets.

Hmmm... I was prompted to update the launcher, and now I'm getting a similar problem. The launcher keeps trying to download the MCPatcher-altered version of Minecraft to check if it's up to date. Obviously it can't, so it just gives up and tells me I can't play.
Just a question; exactly what is Custom Item Textures?
Basically, it allows you to set custom item textures based on certain criteria. For example, before Charcoal had its own texture in vanilla, you could force it to have one based on the item's metadata. You can also force an item to have separate textures based on things like name, enchantments, damage, or any other in-game variable.

Anyone have a solution to this?
Yes, I just got that prompt for a newer launcher and now I can't even play the latest snapshot '24b'! However, strangely it will still allow me to launch snapshot '24a'. This has all got very messed up for me. I'm going to try launching 24b with the Mojang vanilla textures and if that works I obviously need to administer some tender loving care to my pack by re-converting it again and seeing if that works.
I'd rather be creating than fixing, but it's all par for the course really.
Blimey, if this is what it's like for users who are pretty familiar with the ins and outs of a texture pack, the forums are going to be pretty choked with casual users who like to occasionally dabble with texture packs.

Well, I can confirm that the new launcher works ok with vanilla textures on my system, but as soon as I try switching to my own pack, MC now crashes. Re-downloading the official Mojang converter has no effect on what happens...my pack simply won't load with 24b and today's latest launcher. 24a works ok, but with garbled text and all the bugs that came with that version.
I think I'll wait this one out and leave it to better minds than mine, especially on only one hours sleep in the last 36 hours (that's another story and only partly to do with MC).
I know going back to MC 1.5.2 and walking around my world is like waking up from a bad dream at the moment, but I still have every confidence that kahr will work magic...as long as the patience holds out.
I'm here. As expected the snapshot broke all the core texture classes again. Nothing I can't handle, but it will take a few days at least to sort through the new class structure.
Is Mojang's converter as bad as I've been hearing? I was hoping to avoid writing my own texture pack converter again. I'd rather work on new features like CIT than pick up Mojang's slack.

Don't worry about it. Everyone who's been around a while knows how modders work. As long as you show up ever now and again, the masses shouldn't panic too much.
Is Mojang's converter as bad as I've been hearing?
It's... how can I say this... it's a start if you're doing a conversion. Getting everything right requires a bit of work because not everything is converted properly. It's not total crap, but I feel Dinnerbone could have done better. It's half-arsed is what I'm trying to say.
I was hoping to avoid writing my own texture pack converter again. I'd rather work on new features like CIT than pick up Mojang's slack.
Then do so. I know I don't speak for everyone, but I don't feel that it's your job to make a decent converter. Mojang's is, as I said, a good starting point. Anyone with a little determination can muddle through from there.
If you really feel obligated to make a converter, believe me, it would be appreciated. (Particularly because of the asinine format for animation files) Otherwise... don't. Just work on making things awesome, and we'll find a way whether we like it or not.

there converter is not bad. but i have a feeling making all the mc patcher stuff work with the new format might be a bit of a pain in th but so making a converter just for the patcher stuff would be nice.
