Can I use MCPatcher to run mlutiple Minecraft versions, so that I can switch between a snapshot and 1.3.2 via the profiles feature?
Yes, in fact MCPatcher already creates a profile for each new version, including snapshots. From the pull-down menu, go to Mods, Select Profile, and pick the version you want.
Hey guys, anyone tried to assign Better Glas to other than glass blocks? Tried it with emerald blocks but it seems to fail for me. Just used the .propertie files as for the glass block and renamed it for emerald (block133.prop)
The rain splash particles are visible, but the rain itself not ...
I'll take a look, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to fix it without breaking something else. Even the vanilla game has lots of similar transparency-related glitches that I noticed while developing Better Glass.
In other news, the URL for this thread seems to have changed mysteriously. This unfortunately breaks a lot of links and google searches.
I submitted MCPatcher to Symantec so they could add it to their whitelist. I'd be curious to hear from Norton users if it actually makes a difference (make sure your signatures are up to date). Even if it works, it's frankly a huge hassle. I have to submit each update separately and it takes 3-4 days for them to approve it and probably a day or two from there for the new whitelist to propagate.
I don't know how to get the error report or any of that (I'm new to minecraft), however, after patching minecraft I click "test minecraft" on the MCPatcher menu and I get a black window with the java logo as the icon to bring it up.
When I try to load minecraft in MagicLauncher, The game doesn't even pop up, I get a window that says "log" and has a bunch of code that I can't particularly understand. If you guys would like to see what the code is, I will gladly copy/paste it here.
A. Is anybody else having this problem?
B. How can I fix this problem?
And before you ask, I have tried repatching the game, I have also tried uninstalling minecraft completely and reinstalling it to ensure I have no texture packs/Mods as well as uninstalling and reinstalling MCPatcher. Please help. Thank you.
The big thing is that block faces that are covered by transparent blocks render, while block faces that are covered by solid blocks don't. I've heard a rumor that you can make solid blocks act like transparent blocks, but have not been able to confirm it. I mentioned glowstone because it is classified as transparent. With this idea TnT, pistons, doors, plants and any other transparent block would work as well, without causing world holes. So... technically possible, not very reasonable. Cool to talk about, though.
Yes, as I mentioned in my post, there are two metadata values you need to hit, but I am not sure which one the second one is. Finding it comes down to testing around with different metadata values. EDIT2: My best guess is 6, but after reading about it, I realize there is some stuff there I don't understand.
EDIT: If there is no way to make solid blocks act transparent, then here is the full list of blocks that can be affected by better glass without causing world holes: http://www.minecraft...et/wiki/Opacity
Yeah I tried out making diamond blocks transparent and there were world holes, so rumor confirmed false. I misread the OP.
These are some cool ideas. I especially like 2, 5, 6 and 7.
But number 9 is already included. I don't know which file you have to use for it but Misas Texture Pack already has a custom enchantment effect.
And I'm not sure what Khar thinks about suggestions in this thread. I asked for better snow several times already but he never replied.
I think it's the glint.png. But i think he's meaning the actual colour. To change it from purple.
Today's update supports up to the 12w39b snapshot and fixes many of the Better Glass issues reported here. The performance problem with Better Skies and certain texture packs (e.g., Inspiration) has also been fixed. Download links in the OP.
How do I stop the Better Glass shading/colouring affecting the frame?
This may not be even possible, yet I'd like to know!
Solved the above. I erased the frame outline from the coloured glass part of the ctm image.
However, there is another issue that is bugging me. Why is the glass pane glass brighter than the glass of the glass block? Is it because the coloured glass texture is being applied twice?
I noticed how the patcher saves my option selection between patcher versions, how does it do this?
Because I didn't use better grass for the longest time and it never had it selected, and then one day I started using it, now it's selected all the time.
Can we get support for non-standard resolution like 12x, 24x, 20x or just resolutions that are not multipuls of 8?
As long as the terrain and item.png's full sizes are divisible by 16 it's fine. -i'm not sure but it might also be possible to make 10x5, but it might maintain an aspect ration of1x1

OK Kahr, I don't know why but I still have to:
1- Patch MC 12w39b with Better Skies unchecked;
2- Then repatch MC 12w39b with Better Skies checked.
If I don't do that, MC gives me a black screen.
I've noticed that Kahr doesn't care about my reports so I don't care too.
My virus protector said this is not safe to download, first time it acually said that. I cant trust this with my brand new PC, im trying to keep it virus free. Well off to download Optifine instead!

Well I have been using McPatcher to patch my minecraft to use the hd texture packs for awhile now and today a mod I watch has updated and now requires forge so i made a brand new jar patched it and it was fine. I then added in forge it crashed when I loaded world claiming a problem with colorizing the water. Well the mod has random mob support for its mobs so i unpatched everything then only did random mobs mod and it still crashes. If theres a work around please let me know

There's a problem with Better Grass in the snapshot. Uncheck that and it should work until I can put in a fix.

Fixed for the next update.

My mega long suggestion for Brewing & Farming!
The border of the better glass shows up against stairs and half slabs, while it doesn't show against solid blocks.

OK, prepare for noobish question.
