Actually I have a confession to make, in that I already knew you were using the airship textures, as I had a bookmark on the last person who had re-awakened the airship mod and saw either yours or someone else's link to your thread. I saw you'd put a link to my thread along with credit, so I didn't mind. I just saw it as a continuation really and as it's a mod and not part of my texture pack, it's nice to see my old airship textures still being of use. So as long as I'm credited, those airship skins are better being used than sitting idle.
I just need to update the airship mod link in my OP now.
I must say, from looking through your OP you are incredibly prolific with your work. You're doing an amazing job covering so many popular mods that have fallen by the wayside. Not sure how you find the time, but bravo!
Also, thank you for stopping by and asking...it's much appreciated.
Great ! Now everything is written and official
Don't worry about the link, your mod support section is enough, really.
From your last posts, I can see your one of the few texture makers that is really dedicated to making a new experience with his art.
Personnaly, I think updating mods takes less time than making textures
Anyway I am glad we could talk
I know I shouldn't be putting more work on your plate, but I was just wondering if you had heard about the Custom Item Textures support that is being added to MCPatcher? Allows you to use different textures for items based on their damage value, so you could have a different coal and charcoal texture, or give different looks to tools based on how much they've been use. I think that it can be used with other parameters as well, but not entirely sure.
Again, I really should just let you work on the horses, as it sounds like you've got your plate full as it is. Just thought I'd ask.
Ah! Yes, I was vaguely aware that kahr had introduced CIT, I gleaned the info indirectly as I've bookmarked the MC Patcher page, so I follow all the correspondence. Selfishly I'm not quite as interested in custom items as I am in connected textures, mainly because I'm always building in creative mode. However, if I could be persuaded that custom items also appear in the picture frames somehow, then they'd enter my sphere of interest as components for decoration.
Haha, I've long since learned to be as honest as I can about what I can and can't do, so I'm always grateful for info and open to request and suggestions, as long as folk understand if I don't follow up on something it's almost certainly down to the fact I just don't have the time, not me being ignorant or pompous or anything.
Yes, these blessed horses and their strange musculature stretched over unforgiving blocks is really giving me a headache, especially as I'm back to not having lots of time to get properly stuck in in the evenings. I thought I'd be able to make one horse template and quickly copy it to all the others, just changing the colour, but it's not turned out as easy as that. Then there's the horse armour to get to grips with. So I'm feeling hard pressed over the other blocks, even though there are only 3, with ctm hanging over my shoulder, tempting me with it's infinite possibilities, considering what to do with a new block is never quite as simple as it used to be. Woe is me!
By the way, sheep is it safe for me to update to 1.5.2 yet given that some folk seem to be having problems with MC Patcher? I just noticed tonight that kahr had updated again and saw your post over there. I'm just trying to keep things simple at the moment so I can concentrate on the next update. Haven't got the patience to mess with things.

I reckon updating mods takes less time because like a lot of coders (is that the right terminology these days?) you're incredibly efficient. Like a lot of artists, I'm very slow and pedantic and often scrap things to start over from scratch and I easily get distracted.
It's nice to make contact and good to see the airship and steamboat are in safe hands again.
I think my mod support section still has an out of date link.
I don't know, if you've heard of 'Pocket Glimmar' or, ~.PG.~ as it may also be known as, but, do I have permission to use your textures, and all in all the pack's name, in itself?
Please reply, Glimmar!
I remember glancing over the posts when I was otherwise occupied with family matters, and as alluded to, I was hoping to go back over the posts I missed, including yours. You have my sincere apologies, as I know you've been waiting patiently for an answer.
Could you give me a little more info about where you'd be making 'Pocket Glimmar' available and send me a PM, then I can keep a proper record of permissions. I can't see a reason to say no if you follow my conditions with regard to clear credit, use of my signature banner to link back to the source here and don't charge, etc.
Using my pack name is definitely preferable to any other title which might cause confusion over provenance, as it clearly indicates what it's based on, especially with clear credit and link banner, so no worries there. Just keep me informed and send me a PM and if there's nothing untoward I'll add a link to your thread/website in my downloads section.
I'm not entirely sure if MCPatcher is working properly with 1.5.2 yet. I had tried it, and it seemed to load OK, but I didn't have a chance to load any worlds. For some reason, the patcher made Minecraft think it was 1.5.1 again, and as I've been playing a lot on a server as of late, it wouldn't let me join the server due to "mismatched version types". As such, I've just been playing with the built-in HD functionality, which means no CTM…
However, I think Kahr has stated that a new version is now out. Haven't had a chance to test it yet as I've been busy with finals all day, but I'll try it a bit later and see if it's working OK.
EDIT: Also, it appears that he's been having a lot of issues getting it to work with the latest snapshot, so that might complicate things a bit (unless you're only using the default HD support for snapshot testing).
I'm having problems with using this texture in 1.4.7. I heard the way textures are processed/rendered changed from 1.4 to 1.5, is that true? If so, is that the issue? Can anyone help me on making this texture work with 1.4.7?

Yes, I'm just making do with built-in HD for horse editing, just to keep things nice and simple. I've not really had the time to get my head round kahrs attempts to make the patcher work with 1.5.2 and the snapshots.

Lol! I only have the demo version of Minecraft PE and haven't a clue how to install texture packs to it, if that's even possible with the demo. I shall have a look at the files in your zip instead. I've a good imagination!
A few pics of in-game builds would be appreciated.
Also don't forget to put your request for permission to me in a PM, with details of where you might be distributing it, etc, then I can keep a proper record. Permission isn't granted until I can confirm everything is ok.
It's not the same website, notice the dash between minecraft and forum.
Thanks.
I posted a friendly request on my page there, asking admin to link to my 'official' thread here, rather than re-distrubuting my pack through their own download. It's awaiting approval by admin and it would be nice if they respected my wishes, but there's not a lot else I can do, other than perhaps begin a list of MC websites that I disapprove of. Here's what I wrote:
Glimmar here!
Dear admin,
I would be very grateful if you would link to my own download page on the 'official' 'Minecraft Forums' texture packs section here on 'minecraftforum.net':
I am very flattered that you like my pack enough to make it available here and to say such nice things about it, but you are re-distributing my work through your own download, against my express wishes. My 'official' download is always up to date and generates a very small financial incentive for me for all my efforts. By circumventing my own download you're discouraging me from improving my texture pack.
I am not asking you to remove information about Glimmar's Steampunk (including videos, pics, etc), but if you wish me to approve of this website, I would be most grateful if you would make your 'download button' link to my official page on the Minecraft Forums, where users have a chance to speak directly with me and get all the latest info regarding my latest work, resolve problems, make requests and much more.
If you have respect for the hard work of others, I know you will do the right thing and link to my official website.
In anticipation of your fair-mindedness, and with thanks for your time,

I'd like to think I wasn't being heavy-handed or demanding, and live in hope it won't just get ignored or deleted, but I'm also as realistic as the next guy.
If anyone would like to visit my page there using the link owetre18 provided and make a polite request on my behalf, I would be very grateful. Perhaps the owner or admin will be fair-minded enough to understand that most texture pack artists put a great deal of effort and time into their work. Some very nice things are said about my pack in the intro, but it would be nice if they would also respect my conditions of use, especially as like most public websites, they expect users to follow their conditions.
I've been working on my pack for nearly three years now and not received a single penny for my efforts, but the tiny little incentive I get through Curse points has been a very nice little bonus. Who knows...I might even earn enough to buy my wife a bunch of flowers once a year, so she doesn't throw me out for spending all my spare time on my texture pack!
Seriously though, as most of you know, I don't work on my pack for money, I do it because I love Minecraft and the challenge of bending it to my own designs...and then I go to great efforts to make my work available for everyone else, but nobody with any sense enjoys the feeling of being taken advantage of.
[edit]
From a quick scan of a few of the other packs that are available, they're all being re-distributed, as some that I know that are normally available through adfly will not now be generating income for the artist. The website is generating income through advertising on every pack that's available for download. As there are 100 pages of texture packs, 10 per page, that's a lot of misuse going on. And that's only texture packs. I don't know how many artists and coders around here would be happy about that!
I was hoping to be able to change the colour of the redstone dust glow for my texture pack, but discovered it was hard-coded! So now I have to have red steam instead of grey/white!
Hope you manage to interest a modder in this, hence my contribution!
I share your frustration.
I'm not sure how to change smoke color - I'm actively trying to find a way to do this, hopefully with a little-known MC Patcher file.
HOWEVER
There is an MC Patcher file called 'redstonecolor' or 'custom_redstonecolor'. It would be safer to have both, just in case. Anyways, you put it in the 'misc' folder. It's 1 pixel high and 16 pixels wide. The far right is the color of fully powered redstone, the far left is non-powered redstone, and everything in between is the transition. I'm not sure if this file would affect the smoke color as well; last time I checked it didn't, but you never know.

Do you need a professional resource pack? Do you need it right now?
Okay, long time no see. Here's some delayed twilight forest mod support for 1.4.7:
twilightforest/terrain.png
Will release for 1.5-1.6 when ftb updates...
Beautiful work, as ever, Vermillion...hence why I'm happy to show it off again in this post...you're a powerhouse! I particularly like the carved stone blocks, and you've included a lot of original textures too.

Wow! You've been digging deep.
Yes, there are a lot of things that MC Patcher can do now by way of changing hard-coded colors. I just wish there was time for me to go back and have a good tinker, especially with biome colours, but I'm kind of happy now with the redstone color in general and have since based all new redstone textures around it. I'm happy not to change too many things from the recognised norm or it continues to compound problems down the line when Mojang continue to put out new redstone blocks and items. Like my use of lambent green gas lamps, for style reasons I'm happy to deviate from historically acurate steampunk, where it suits me, for a more ethereal ambience.
I am, however, very grateful for any info that helps me better choose how things might look. I'm still also considering changing to, or having an alternative amber coloured lamp, but this will have to wait until I get round to upgrading the torch to 64x.
But, there's still much to do, though! I am planning to go to the nether, (When I gat enough gold. -.-) and then build a Zeppelin, by use of netherrack. It will be good, but sadly, my old enemy is back, the glitched water netherrack.
Anyways! Enjoy!
They look great! It's also nice to see just how well my old pack has translated to the pocket edition scale. You've done really well!
But, I have a question Glimmar, sorry if I may not ask, but can this be posted on the thread? Perhaps a link to the pack?
I would be very happy to post this in my thread in my OP. As we already have a another Pocket Edition version on offer, I will add yours there along with clear credit to you of course.
Before I do, however, could you take the 'extras' folder out of your version, and any other textures which aren't required when running the PE version. I'm not overly keen on all the extras and alts, or anything else which isn't required for PE use, being given away. As it's an area I'm unfamiliar with, I don't know how extra textures would be used or abused, and I imagine it's also important to keep the PE download size as small as possible. Thanks, mate.
Howdy! I've got to say, I love this texture pack...in all honesty, this pack has been super important to me!
I tried it out (a couple years ago!) and LOVED the steampunk aesthetic. The doors, the torches, the tools, the rails - I loved it!
The problem was...everything else. I enjoyed Minecraft's colorful, simplified landscapes...so I wondered how I could go about having both! This led me to download Paint.net for the first time, and begin a years-long game of taking each new Minecraft and Glimmar release, comparing it to the old ones, and arranging my favorite textures from vanilla (resized to 32x32) alongside my favorite steampunk textures (I still use some elements that have LOOOONG since been replaced in the pack proper!)
So oddly, while Minecraft feels incomplete to me without the items and devices from this pack, it's the parts that weren't my taste that taught me a TON about simple graphical editing. It got me involved in the process, and I'm still hugely grateful for that - and my familiarity with that program has served me well in light modding and graphical design ever since.
SO, after that long motive rant, here's the meat: returning to MC after about a year and a half away, I saw that animated textures were much simpler to implement now. So, recalling my sadness that both the diamond saw and pick were animated but the sword was not, I made a really barebones animation for the diamond sword.
7 frames
I animate it at:
0*10
1*1
2*1
3*5
4*1
5*1
6*10
But that's a matter of taste. Bigger numbers at 0 and 6 will make the pulse less frequent, but even as it is, it's not terribly distracting.
It was super simple to make, but I hope someone enjoys it!
One consolation though! Your work is good enough to steal! Hahaha.
But in all seriousness, keep up the great work. Every time I come back I'm more and more blown away. This is such a great pack for my creative worlds I sometimes forget how to play survival when I finally go back. XD

Okay, here's a 64x alternate version of my previous twilight forest textures. Replaces the Nagastone and Nagastone Head with a brass variation of the quartz pillars (which I haven't actually seen since it's 1.5+ and FTB is still 1.4.7). I'll probably update it again when it goes 1.5 or 1.6.
twilightforest/terrain.png
Works great too. Made a steampunk submarine almost entirely using Nagastone/heads in 5 mins, and yes, that's how the stone looks even without connected textures.
Also working on Factorization textures now. Those are barrels on the dock and that's a solar boiler with reflective mirrors over the back.

Looks very nice, Artifex. Thanks also for your PM. I will use this in the next pack, with a slight edit to the timing...until I replace with a new set of tools and weapons. Credits to you for the animation, asikar for the 64x edit and Vondell for the original 32x design.
Well, I made it retro, since that MCPE is old-styled, right? Then it'd be better with the retro look of your pack!
And, I hope that Jeb_ don't un-retro MCPE, or remove the terrain.png sheets.
Oh! I removed all of them, it's fitting 100% to MCPE!
And, thank you dearly, for doing that! It is an honor!
I look forward to seeing the edited version...minus all the extras, etc.
But in all seriousness, keep up the great work. Every time I come back I'm more and more blown away. This is such a great pack for my creative worlds I sometimes forget how to play survival when I finally go back. XD
Thanks, Psionix.
Lol! I've long since forgotten how to play survival. So why do I spend so much time on new GUIs when I don't even use 'em in game. Probably because I'm a glutton for punishment.

Thanks, mate.
Hey, no need to apologise. Sending me a PM just helps me to keep a record of requests and permissions.
They look great! It's also nice to see just how well my old pack has translated to the pocket edition scale. You've done really well!
XD

I look forward to seeing the edited version...minus all the extras, etc.
Cheeky!
Thanks, Psionix.
Lol! I've long since forgotten how to play survival. So why do I spend so much time on new GUIs when I don't even use 'em in game. Probably because I'm a glutton for punishment.
Lots of nice retro tech in use there. Ah! Submarines...I love submarines!
Not sure if your comment was for Vermillion or my texture pack. In any event...thanks from both of us.
