What did you mean by "We're going to be live Monday", Garbage9x3? Are we gonna do the thing where we save the UE map, make the server a blank slate, and let people build on it so we can search for new builders, or what? We certainly can't launch yet, we need to install plugins and obviously make more than one town, lol, because GNAC isn't even finished yet.
I've interviewed Master Torsin, and I've decided he's going to aid with construction. I told him to post here.
Also, I note with dismay that Islanderon, SniperBrob and Apotheophobic have been gone for some time and we've probably lost the whole original team...
...Thats rather depressing, because I liked every single one of those guys as a person, and now they're ignoring me and UnderEarth, I think. I know for sure that all of them are pissed off and bored how slow the server's progression seems. To me it's seemed just fine, but apparently it's enough to make them leave for quite some time, which when developing a server... is just too much.
If they don't start regularly appearing I'm going to have to make a former dev-team list, screw my life.
SniperBrob is on every day... and gnac is going to be done by this weekend for us to be live on monday. no one has mentioned needing more plugins on the the forum so as of now were ready to go. junst need to chance a few small things.
Thank god you and SniperBrob are still here... whew. But jeez... Narolas, Islanderon, Apotheophobic? I miss those guys so bad. I hope they all come back, because we need them desperately.
I knew creating a server this advanced would be incredibly hard from the start... but I had no idea I would make and lose so many amazing friends along the way.
Inspiring and depressing simultaneously, isn't it?
we seem to be doing just fine without them. i have everyone i need to get this thing running. and as of today 2 extras.

cooper7 did an awesome job on the sawmill so im going to have him build the bathhouse.
as for the industrial center need to build a quarry.
...I want to bring to your notice that we have one settlement. One. And no roads. In addition, we have no real gameplay or plugins. On launch, we need the following:
Construction List
- Grand New Arc City (Settlement)
- Sandstock (Settlement)
- Fort Brian (Settlement) [Currently no written instructions for]
- Stilt City (Settlement) [Currently no written instructions for]
- Quarryspan (Road Network)
- Sandstock Road (Road Network)
- Highshaft Pass (Road Network)
Plugin/Mod List
===Confirmed===
- Protection System: Players will only be able to edit blocks in spots designated by admins.
- Re-skinning Mobs: We need to make them look more like UnderEarth mobs!
- Economy System: Players can buy and sell items at shops with virtual money.
===Possible===
- Guns and more Weapons: Bows and swords? Thats so twelth century!
- Hunger/Thirst: Now, this might ruin gameplay and make it tedious, or make it a really cool hardcore survival experience, so this is up for debate.
- Quests/NPCs: The world of UnderEarth looks too deserted. Lets add some NPCs, shall we? Also, the backstory of UnderEarth could be told through some quests.
- Leveling/Stat-Point Allocation: To make this a true MMORPG!
- Mobs Mod: Change mobs so that they drop alternate items and have different behaviors, if possible. Creepers no longer explode, too.
- Custom Blocks/Mechanisms: You know how some servers have gates and bridges? Something like that, bro. Mm-hm, yeah.
- Travel System: This is INCREDIBLY important! This makes it so that when a player finds a settlement or place of importance, they gain an achievment, and then they are able to use a /travel (Insert Place Name Here) to quickly travel to that location. Also, saying /list travel would bring up a list of all the locations found by that player. Right after launch, this isn't going to be crazy helpful because we won't have as many settlements, but after a short time after we build onto the server, UnderEarth is going to get HUGE and people are going to need a convenient way around.
If you are concerned at how long the construction will take and whether or not it will be worth it, don't be: my plan is to have large areas about half the current size of Grand New Arc City cleared for players to build, placed every so often. Road networks will lead to these huge caverns.

As for quests i have a plugin called jobs installed for this

P.S. The plug-ins seem to be poorly configured and some plug-ins not even in use, if you would give me the plug-in details and the plug-ins folder I can fix this all up very fast.
P.P.S. Blocks/Guns/Weapons REQUIRE a client-side AND server-side mod, I can do this but I am not sure if garbage wants to go through the trouble doing it. Also this might decrease the number of users because they must download a client mod before they can enter the server.

Dude have u even been on the server lately? No roads? Um we actually have two. Also we have 3 settlements, 3. not 1.
1. GNAC slums / apartments
2. Gnac player built houses
3. Sandstock settlement
Also we already have a protection system (world guard)
And we have an economy system. God damn dude..
maybe if u got on the server sometime u could see that...
ur on the server like 10 minutes a week

I'm sorry, its just that I get so nervous and tense from the recent events of team members being terribly inactive or leaving all together. If you guys were just partners, it would suck because I would lose your valuable talents. But since you guys are great people and I like you as friends, if I lose any of you it gives me the most painful feeling.
After I realized Narolas was gone, I was physically ill for days.
I apologize for my being hasty on that, but running a server and seeing such good people come and go screws up my head.
Now, about launch... Garbage9x3, what do you intend to have players be able to do, at all, if we launched on monday?

I know. I'm a terrible boss, lol, we've been through this before. I suck, I know, I'll try to get better. Thanks for letting me know what I'm doing wrong. I've been trying to be on the server, but either the connection is screwy or I don't have build rights so I can't edit anything.

Hey islanderon, can you work on the mob changes and re-skins? I gave the specifics for two hostile mobs already, just ask if you need them or you need some new ones as you complete them.
Hostile Mobs are going to be changed DRASTICALLY. Since we can't "make" custom mobs from scratch, we're going to be editing the current ones beyond recognition.
In case you've forgotten or haven't copied and pasted the file somewhere, (Which is very likely) here is the file of two planned mob-changes I wrote some time ago.
===PLANNED MOB LIST===
Analyzation of Creatures in UnderEarth:Almost each and every single one of UnderEarth's inhabitants have had to adapt or alter drastically to survive the harsh conditions of life underground. Canabilization amongst species is not uncommon, as food and water is scarce. Radiation has often forced changes amongst population of creatures, changing them into hideous abominations, or sometimes, helping the creature by altering it's DNA for the better and giving it newfound abilities and strengths.
- Pondspawn, "Crocobeetle" (A giant beetle-like creature. They spawn and lay their eggs in small bodies of water, and feed off of some minerals found in caves. However, these minerals are not enough to sustain them, and they kill creatures of any other species that they can find. They likely evolved from one of the mutated hybrid-animals, which caused by The Impact. Scientists are unsure, but it is suggested by their habits and appearance that they evolved from a cross of a beetle, crocodile and spider. The beetle's DNA comes in the most with the shape of the animal, the crocodile's with some of it's habits and it's appearance and functions, and the spider's comes in the least with it's various habits and some of it's traits. They have rough, scaly hide, grotesque mandibles, and a wide mouth filled to the brim with sharp, needle-like teeth. Hunters in UnderEarth have tried their best to purge these dangerous, hostile creatures from UnderEarth through vast searches of areas known to have small bodies of water, but these hunts either end in disaster or the creatures are not found. Still the reports come of victims brutally mauled by these beasts...)
Possible Mob Re-Skin: Giant SpiderPossible Item Drops: Pondspawn hide, Pondspawn Eye, Pondspawn Mandible, Pondspawn Tooth, Pondspawn Egg, Pondspawn Skull Traits Changed from Mob: Is always hostile, even in the daytime. Sounds are likely changed. Undecided whether or not it should drop string.
- Saltbody "Saltcrab" (A large crab-like creature. These creatures are often referred to as those who had been birthed on the surface "hellishly bizarre albino crabs". They are known for their often shiny, pure white color. They are drawn to salt as their DNA makes salt out as an aphrodisiac, and it causes a feeling of euphoria in them. There is a reason for this, though; their biology calls for a lot of salt, and their body changes salt into energy when ingested. As a result of consuming so much of this mineral, over generations their bodies have been born with white shells, though if a Saltbody is kept from salt for a bit over two weeks, it begins to turn brown. After three weeks with no salt, it dies. These creatures may look very different in some ways from their crustecean ancestors, but they do share having a tough, hard-plated body. They have four legs, two pincer-arms, and their body rezembles a "walking jar" of sorts with it's large cylindrical shape. The sides of it's body are somewhat translucent and less heavily plated. It's four legs carry this cylindrically-shaped, tall body over long distances to acquire salt through mining it with their incredibly powerful and sharp pincers and legs. They have been tested to sense salt from twenty miles away, and it is believed they can sense it from double that distance. The belief for why it evolved so drastically from it's old crab shape to become a mobile salt-tank is that because food is so scarce in UnderEarth, some creatures have to find a new source of fuel to live. Because these creatures ingest so much salt from the rocks it mines, it needs a place to store it. Salt not burned by the body for fuel is stored in the creature's bloated head. You can tell if one of these creatures is in need of food when the creatures's hide is brown and it's head is small and deflated. These creatures are generally hostile, and will kill you if you get too close. They are very territorial, too, thinking any passersby will steal the precious salt they've found before they can mine it first. There is much competition between Saltbodies in this way, and they typically travel alone, and in rare cases they do travel in packs so the mining goes much easier and quicker, and the salt gets divided. When Saltbodies converge on the same rocks they find to have salt, they duel for the rights to mine it. The loser is usually killed, and caniballized for their salt. Their heads are punctured by the victor and the salt is sucked out. They rear up on their back legs to look larger.)
Possible Mob Re-Skin: Creeper Possible Item Drops: Saltbody hide, Saltbody skull, Saltbody egg, Salt (Salt is just gunpowder colored white) Traits Changed from Mob: Does not explode. Does not drop gunpowder. Almost always found near Salt blocks (New Block Type). Attacks by clawing and slicing with pincers and front legs. Rears up on back legs when threatened. May sometimes be seen clawing at salt blocks for amounts of time. Sounds changed.

Imagine walking around UnderEarth with a scoped modern crossbow slung over your soldier, garbed in Pondspawn hide armor... O_o
That is absurdly cool. We N33d some 1337 custom items! Holy crap, custom items are so cool! AHAHAHA! YEAHHHHH!
...Yeah, so, islanderon, can you possibly make the changes suggested? That being, more weapons, mob changes, more armor, more miscellanous items, more block types, et cetera?
I'm also thinking to have some human mobs as NPCs. Fight one, and (Like Pig Zombies) all nearby human NPCs attack you. Populating the world with moving, intelligent NPCs would be awesome. We'd need to spawn quite a lot though, and we would need to code them to spawn only in designated spots, probably changable via a command where you say something like /randomhumanspawn and then you hit the spot with a wooden axe or something.
Human NPCs would be given a random skin from a database of skins, or you could choose which specifc skins the NPC that spawns on that spot could possibly spawn with via another command.
Wow, I wish I could script, because there is a shitload of stuff I want to try out. Can you tell I'm excited? :biggrin.gif:

I don't think secret likes to listen lol. People don't want to have to download something just to join a server!! Do you want people to play on the server, because there are no successful servers that require you to download to play.

Oh, you guys have been telling me that forever, I've been listening. Though, I disagree. Consider this; people downloaded the texture pack "Last Days" hundreds, maybe thousands of times to improve the Minecraft experience. And all it did was make things look and sound different, and it wasn't even for a server. If someone wants to play our server, its no hindrance to people to "have to download something"-- it IMPROVES the Minecraft experience by adding more stuff and changing things up, like 'Last Days', but better.
Also, consider this; people that download the official mod for the server will be more dedicated to UnderEarth than someone that can just join by putting our IP adress into their SMP bar.
