Our most recent mob is the Iron Defense Golem. It's basically a big robot.
With this, redstone, powered minecarts and pistons, there's already enough proof that ideas for industrialization aren't far fetched for Minecraft anymore. Suggestions used to be bashed constantly because "It's too advanced for Minecraft!" which is now invalid.
So I ask. What advanced stuff would you like to see now?
EDIT: To everyone saying "magic": you don't understand the point of the thread. It doesn't matter if it's magic or technology that powers it, it opens windows for more "advanced" things. Im asking what would you like to see with that.
Then explain how you can craft one with four iron blocks and a pumpkin.
That's why it isn't a robot. It's a golem made through combining metal with a pumpkin head. It's not truly a mechanical machine, but a conjured creation made of iron for strength. It's just as magical as a living snowman.

I see your logic, but I pose this thought:
In my opinion, iron golems and snow golems are more akin to the "technology" behind enchanting and brewing. To me they are less a mechanical construct than a "magic" one.
Maybe I'm wrong though! Possibly the addition of iron golems is the spark that connects the technology behind redstone etc with the magic behind enchanting etc.
Its MAGIC though, Not technology. Redstone is MAGIC POWDER, The iron gollem is not a robot, Its a living piece of metal animated through MAGIC, Its schizo tech, The most technologically advance item we have is the simplest machine in existence besides a wheel on a stick! And even THAT is powered by magic in some form!
I don't like to think of it as a futuristic robot type of thing, but rather an iron construct brought to life by the powers of MineCraft, like snow golems.

I guess the iron golem is a technological device powered by magic :biggrin.gif:

Where did the greater possibility of advancement come from? I don't get what window opened. The technology of the game is no more or less advanced than when we got a golem made of snow. This one just happens to be made of iron, which you're associating with opportunity to advance technology when it isn't exactly 'technology', so to speak.
...What? I was pointing out the fact that most of the "Technology" in the game is actually magic.
And your post is misleading, Mister original poster! To me you sounded like you wanted computers or some other advanced technology.
And in any case, Since this is a fantasy game, It HAS to have magic in order to fit into the game. At least anything that doesn't use a furnace.
But whatever. I want trains. Or any vehicle you can actually walk around in. I'm really tired of minecarts.

It does matter if it is magic or technology that fuels the advanced features. Technology as we understand it doesn't really fit with Minecraft. Magic-based pseudo-technology does.
But it can't go further than a steampunk concept or it will destroy the concept of minecraft.
Exactly. At best, we have the basics for steam punk technology supplemented with magic. We already have limited coal power, it's only a small jump to something slightly more steam punk.

We have the villager egg
close enough?

Minecarts need more ways to interact with them. I suggest they focus on those next.

That's a great idea. +1

Magic...no wires/redstone/internal anything that I can see.
