There was one guy who said this on that "this is minecraft" video.
i almost start to cry at this thinking of the good o'l days, everything was great since 1.6 1.7 and 1.5 1.4 etc but now it changed into total crap and Notch decreased our minecraft happiness by 100% :'(

4.7 seven million is buying the game, if you stay at minecraft.net, every minute 1 - 5 people buys minecraft
Soon it will be 5 million.
In fact, if we round it, they are 5 million.
If your definition of a game dieing is " I dont like it anymore and i like to complain " then you are completely wrong, just because you feel it is not fun anymore or that it is not like before is because you just got bored.
And yes, your opinion is not my opinion as i still think MC is awesome and 75 % of those 5 million people think something similar
Magic kinda ruined the classical feel of the game for me where you were you felt like a castaway trying to survive. The only magic being redstone and mobs.
Now with enchanting and npcs the world feels so much smaller. And I spend all my time worrying about food because animals aren't abundant and anoying to breed to the point you're better off just making bread.
I was content at 1.7 then everything started getting weird and overly complicated.
And to be honest, Mincraft was pretty boring/bland till Jab became lead dev
If anything, Minecraft doesn't feel like Minecraft anymore, because Minecraft feels like what it should have been all along.
- More diverse biomes
- More diverse mobs
- More user driven content
Jeb has been improving minecraft from the very first day he became Lead Dev, props to him.
I don't understand why everyone is complaining, they are expanding the game to it's full potential.
The reason it feels like a mod, is because mincraft really didn't have much content to begin with. Mods usually add a lot of content yes? Well that's what they are doing now, they are pumping out content at a faster rate than they used to.
When notch was in charge, there were updates once every few months. We had no say in the matter whatsoever.
Jeb, however, is incredibly transparent. He is giving us a look at how he is developing the game BEFORE an update. Allowing the community to suggest ideas/ report bugs BEFORE they become a problem in the next update.
THIS IS GOOD,
WE HAVE MORE OF A SAY IN THE GAME THEN WE EVER HAD
Why the hell are you complaining about?
TL;DR
Minecraft was stale to begin with. Jeb is adding more content. It feels like a mod, because mods generally make the game more diverse, Jeb is doing just that, making the game more diverse.
Minecraft is more user driven that it has ever been because of the snapshot system, along with Mod API coming soon.
Still feels like the same old Minecraft to me. The additions and changes haven't really changed the feel for me, they've just given me more options and things to do. I still spend most of my time mining for resources, crafting useful items and building stupidly complex structures just to amuse myself.
Ya more minecraft should never change forums!
1. easy fix, go back and just install the 1.8 beta, tons of people have downloads for it
2. sell your account and stop playing
3. Suck it up and still love minecraft for all the epicness it holds
We're at different sides right now, and both sides have made some great points. Although the game is still very fun and has plenty to do, it just doesn't have that same adventury, mysterious feel it once did. Back in the 1.3-1.7 days, it felt like some sort of mysterious, perilous adventure, much like X's Adventures in Minecraft (he deliberately made it very mysterious and cool, which is frikkin sweet) - but ever since 1.8, the game's kinda lost it's touch. Although Bukkit is advancing and adding many neat things to play around with in plugins, I wish we had some of the old minecraft back every so often.
I did just discover MCNostalgia, but there is really nobody willing to do multiplayer in an Alpha version (I don't know if I could even find a server .jar file for that anymore). And even then, it's just not the same.
It doesn't feel like Minecraft anymore because nearly all of the changes in the last year have moved away from the mine-and-build aspect of the game. Instead, the changes have basically been rip-offs of Elder Scrolls games. Minecraft is getting to the point where it's just a really bad copy of Skyrim
wut?
I have GOT to hear this! Ok Jon..give us a comprehensive 1 to 1 list of EVERYTHING that makes Minecraft --> Skyrim ripoff. You have 24 hours from 1:53pm PST to complete your homework; failure will result in the loss of 1 internet and flailing with a wet noodle...and the fact you're spewing copious amounts of ********.

Those beaches in the first video would be very nice.
Every time someone says it's no longer "the way it was supposed to be," I slip ever so slightly closer to losing my feeble grip on reason.
To the people saying "you try and do better," please be quiet. You do not have to be a chef to tell that the food is burnt.
To the people saying it's "unfinished," congratulations, it isn't. In other news, Skyrim still has bugs in it.
To the people saying that it has "lost its charm," you've grown used to the game. You've learned the ins and outs. There are no secrets anymore. Games lose their appeal over time. It's a fact of life. Reverting to the old versions will not turn back time itself, I'm afraid.

That's my problem right now, it's a great game but I've done everything many times. I want to use enchants but it makes the game too easy, so I'm deciding to stay no-armor but enchant my weapons. When the game is challenging it makes it feel Minecrafty again.
The new minecraft to me is changing how I look at the game. It's focusing less on the "core" of the game and is trying to experiment/branch out more (but to what I don't know), at least in my point of view.
And to be honest, Mincraft was pretty boring/bland till Jab became lead dev

My problem isn't all of what they added, just the lack of dependancy I need on them. For the most part a lot of these were pvp updates, not including the dragon. If they give creepers better AI, then pve will feel much better.

Agreed. The enchants and potions bother me not because they "change the feel" but because they effectively turn the player into a minor deity.
The only other real complaint I have is with having loot in NPC villages; I should not be finding a half-dozen diamonds five minutes into the game.
Can the someone tell me what DRUGS are the guys claiming minecraft feel changed please? Because it really does weird allucinations.
Anyways... so... you say the minecraft feel changed...
When i started a world in the first version i played minecraft, beta 1.3 to be exact
* look the area to see if something interesting
* find some trees
* punch them
* make tools
* find a near cave to get coal, iron and mainly stone.
* make a small house to have a place to stay
How i started in the world i made in 1.0.0
* look the area to see if something interesting
* find some trees
* punch them
* make tools
* find a near cave to get coal, iron and mainly stone.
* make a small house to have a place to stay
THE ONLY THING CHANGED was the possibilities...
Now the game doesnt limits you to " just building "
You can search for mineshafts, STRONGHOLDS, FIGHT MOTHERF*CKING DRAGONS!
Please tell me what drug are this guys using. It should be illegal on the entire world.

I've been to 8 villages since the newest update and haven't found diamonds yet in the chests. I think they should have iron at the most though, it is kind of silly.

Pretty much. The only difference for me now was that I was putting my bed in a cave without walls, but I learned not to do that after one creeper blew up my bed then one behind me killed me, sending me back to the beginning of which I forgot my house coord. :/

too gimmicky.
Go code your own java sandbox game of funness.
Stop complaining.
