That evidence is no more valid here than it is in your thread. He's speculated on several possibilities and is not a Mojang employee, so his opinion is no more relevant than anyone else's.
I'm afraid I can't see how that works. Sure the face is the same, but it's missing the rest of the body that we can see in the image:
I suppose you could say that the "orange" parts are the front of its paws facing forwards, but that'd be quite an awkward position.
Not really. I believe you can see that crouching position in the Mo Creatures mod..? (I think it is the domestic cats that crouch like that, not sure) And we all know how Mojang is notorious from getting inspiration from mods..
Also, an explanation for the fron of the body not matching, perhaps in the crouching position, the main body of the model flips horizontally while the head remains upright. This would expose the top part of the main body part of the skin, which could be a different color that we can see in the screenshot, but not quite in the model.
Just speculation though, we still don't have an official source for the model yet. *coughcoughRepeatist*

Hmmmmmm...I suppose that could work. It still seems like a bit of a stretch though.
Aye, looks like we're just going to have to wait for an official word.
There is a reason I put "orange" in scare quotes, you know.
I figured as much, just thought I'd offer. It's easy enough for anyone to do just what I did, not sure why more haven't. Makes discerning colors and picking out the bits that belong to the mob rather than the environment much easier.
I was given the image. But I was just told not to talk anymore. Sorry, people.
Hohoho, how scandalous... I LIKE IT! Haha
All this hype is making me too excited for tomorrow... :\ This new mob coupled with the amazing jungle seed I have is too much to handle.

Don't get too excited.
It seems when things get highly anticipated that's exactly the time when Mojang runs into delays.
I would much rather prefer a big cat of sorts [Ocelot, tiger, something] to a monkey. At least with a cat you can train it, tame it, breed it, get an adorable little kitty from it . . . <3
But monkeys are lame. Unless they drop rope to make various rope-related things then . . . yeah.
This is really starting to drive me crazy. Why do you think it's orange?
Just to show you what color it is I downloaded the image, zoomed in on the little bit sticking up above the grass you mentioned, sampled the color from the lightest part of that bit (there are some darker brown pixels next to it), then filled that color into a 100 pixel x 100 pixel square image so that you can clearly see that the color is brown.
Here it is, the color you claim is orange:
EDIT:
Just to be clear here's another 100 pixel x 100 pixel box which shows a color gradient from dark to light orange.
Even completely disregarding the lighting and contrast of the dark greens in the screenshot (If you look at the lightest/brightest color of red in a semi-lit room, it is still much darker in reality than your brain perceives it due to lighting, our brains have this weird filter to highlight the true colors of objects in less-than-perfect lighting conditions), I would still venture that that color is more Orange than brown, and the whole of the new mob is more orangey than brown.
Take your pick, (Orange/Brown Color Swatches via Wikipedia)

You know, there's this fancy thing called a "color picker". It comes with MS Paint.
I used photoshop, and I got brown colors.
...
Those other pixels might be a tail. You can see a flower through those leaves, too.

Allocators are no longer the future, we have Hoppers now. I still like them, though.

I think you completely missed the point, being that the environment effects the true value of the color and our brains correct it somewhat. I'm sure if you had a screenshot of this new mob in a glowstone room retextured white, or even an actually well lit area it would actually be orange or light orange, not a dingy brown.
Meanwhile, some humor;
Oh, they also did a color chart based on people's responses, I'm pretty sure if you were to get the actual texture file of the new mob that ear-color would safely fall into the category of "orange" link
I respect all the effort you are putting into defending your color theorem.... but is it really necessary? Brownie points for intelligence but I mean... it's a forum for a video game.
Just sayin

It looks to me like off-white and partially unsaturated orange, a tiger. :/
Actually a tiger and baby leopard don't have off-white but full white. Who knows. lol
Yea, I get it. Honestly, I'm open to both and think they would both have specific features that would add to the game in their own ways.
However, based on the evidence, I still have to go with the monkey.

Well, it would take tons more AI to get a monkey to climb vines. Monkeys totally fit the new jungle and the vines, I just feel like it's far-fetched in terms of coding even with a specialist.

Maybe they just added the basic mob into the game and will continue to develop the AI to the best of their ability over time. i.e. Testificates
I'm sure Jon can push the limits of the coding of Minecraft. If modders can develop such complex mods for the game that add completely new mechanics, I think Jon can manage to tweak an already existing AI (wolf) to make it so monkeys will follow you up vines

If you'd like I can zoom in on that part too and make another color block to show how not-orange it is.
