Speculation was wrong, new mob is in fact an Ocelot.
This actually surprises me quite a bit. I was almost positive from the face I drew and the model provided that we would be seeing a monkey (albeit a dumb, non climbing one) in the snapshot.
However, that doesn't mean we can see a monkey in the future. So I've added a poll asking if you all would like to see a monkey mob in the near future of minecraft. It was already speculated on by Jon, and I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to make. Hell, Jon could even get inspiration for the model and behaviors from this topic.
If you'd like, tweet this topic link or general idea to Jeb/Jon and maybe we can get the wheels rolling on this idea
I mean come on, who wouldn't want a little tame monkey that climbs walls behind you and retrieves item drops for you? it would be a practical use, and not just another Wolf.
I realize that this thread should now be moved to the suggestion forum, so would a mod please do so?
I'd love to hear your opinion on this
Edit: Body (front) drawing added
I give you the face of the new mob that I drew from the screenshot
Looks like a monkey to me. Kind of a dull face with lowered eyes much like the wolf in its untamed state. If you look at the bottom right image which is blown up a little, you'll see what might look like a paw.
Monkeys were also tweeted as a possibility by Jon, it has to be a monkey.
The one weird thing though is that if you look at the side of its head in the actual screenshot, there is no ear on the side but it looks like there is one on the top which is a bit confusing.
Edit 2: If you look to the left side of the tall grass and behind the dirt block that it is sitting on, there is a leaf block there, meaning obviously that it is a bush. The leaf block probably keeps running over under the mob behind the tall grass which means that the mob is most likely 1x1 block
New mob is small.
Monkeys are small.
Therefore, new mob is a monkey.
That's my take on it
Edit 3: Picture of model provided by Repeatist
If the model is real, I guess we won't really know until tomorrow but it seems completely plausible

Go try and make a pixelated face with ears sticking out from the side of the head that doesn't look either stupid or too much like Mickey Mouse.
However put little bumps on the top of the head, space far apart, and people are like "Hey, ears!" Orient them more towards the center of the head, less space in between, and they'd probably be more like "Hey, horns!"
Any answers? I quoted the OP so that I could see the image's link, and I pasted it into the address bar but nothing came up. I got a big, blank screen.

Is it not showing up...? I can see it perfectly on my screen.
Well then my screen must have screen-aids or something. Or probably my antivirus is being a *****.

Could be antivirus or something. Its on tinypic, I'll try and upload somewhere else and repost it
Edit: @kyoshinda Yea I guess, but remember my depiction isn't exact. Plus the screen shot shows it at an angle and what not... Plus I think that is the front of the body cause that white spot looks like a crest on the monkeys chest or something

I thought that was the side of its body until I saw this depiction. A monkey would have a 'rounder' face right?
Every Minecraft mob has a square head, so try to keep that in mind. There's not much they can do to make the face appear more round because the fact that it's textured on a cube would completely destroy the illusion anyway.

Those green pupils could also be a part of the grass.
Nevermind. Upon closer look, I realized they are of different shades.
That's actually very true. However, I like to think it is actually part of the eye. I mean, it makes sense when you transpose the face I drew onto the screenshot doesn't it? It all lines up.
We can only speculate and find out tomorrow
Edit: That's what I looked for immediately upon seeing your post and, to tell the truth, it's pretty hard to tell.
Then I looked at the pixel art for the tall grass and didn't see any little 2 pixel things sticking out of any of the stalks. I'm still not sure though

Eh? I'm counting 9x5 from OP's image. Yet that is also irrelevant since the majority of the head is not visible. I'm not basing my reasoning off the image, I'm basing it off the cube-ness of the heads of other Minecraft mobs.
It could totally be a cube-monkey face. But then again it could literally be any other mammal (unless it really is a mystery because those are brown-ish scales!?!?!?). Twitter evidence points to monkey.

The images aren't pixel for pixel either, it was literally a 5 minute paint drawing.
If you look at the screen shot, the chin looks like its hidden by the grass a bit so that would add more area to the face

That would be correct. Whatever that pixel is, it isn't part of the grass stalk.
There is also quite a difference in shade in comparison with the rest of the texture.
Deep inside, I vouch for a monkey mob. Apart it being a broader deviation from the rest of the passive mob variety we currently have, rather than a feline would be, I imagine it would be twice as amusing. But everytime I notice that extra pixel of what seemingly is an ear protruding above the grass, I have a harder time perceiving it as a monkey.

And another thing, why are they doing these on wednesdays? Why not fridays or mondays...?

More roundish(squarish and not flat).

Oh well, I guess only time will tell.
