The new jungle biome is pretty sweet. My favorite part is that the surface caves have vines in them, in the jungle biome only though. For the curious: the jungle tree trunk (kapok maybe?) block is a sideways pine tree trunk block. And it is its own block in creative mode; I love that.

Yea, just explored a jungle biome, the caves are really awesome, as are the trees.
Love the mountainous terrain too, really makes them varied and interesting! Now to try out the new mob ai's.... :biggrin.gif:
Love the new log block. Want to use it to make my own custom palm trees - tired of people complaining about "birch palms" in my custom maps.
Also, they are mountainous which looks absolutely great. You can hew your way through the thick underbrush to the summit, and then gaze over a lush unbroken canopy of great trees.
I have noticed that the jungle biomes can spawn with fairly large sized hills in them. (the ground goes up to about Y = 100 and the trees can be up to about the build limit. Definitely interesting.
Also a lot of animals seem to spawn snared in the foliage.
I can't wait until an actual 'jungle' sapling drops from those blocks and/or cocoa beans.

When no one was looking, the Endermen took forty blocks.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.

OMFG!!! OK! Now THAT is my favorite part of the jungles.
Since I first played Minecraft way back in Alpha, the one thing I have always wanted is sideways log texture for my houses. Now we can make horizontal log supports that actually look like that's what they are :biggrin.gif:
It seems mobs, especially creepers, spawn more in jungles(but it could just be recent updates making them spawn more in general); in one section of one cave, I encountered three skeletons, three zombies, and three creepers. The following morning, I went outside and saw 3 creepers across the lake in front of my house, and 2 more running at me to my left. Holy ****.

Not quite - it's a bit paler, with a greenish tint:
The left is the jungle tree, the right is the pine tree.
I see! I didn't get close enough I reckon, thanks!
There is a good chance this means he hasn't made a sprite yet, but has gotten most of the coding for the new saplings done.
Gonna do some tests now.
EDIT: Witnessing the new zombie AI in action, pretty good if you ask me.
Might go well with Oak wood.
But with those huge trees, only this song comes to mind:

Just tested whether the different saplings would grow into jungle trees.
The one on the right is a sapling that came from a normal tree, the one on the left is a sapling from a jungle tree
Nope.avi
It seems the saplings are not stack-able, but do not have the proper coding to grow jungle trees as of yet.

Jeb had been nothing but impressive since he took lead developer. I can't wait for more of his work.
The jungle biome, the climbable vine, are solid gold. Now I don't have to worry about running out of wood.

According to my experiment on a 1.0 creative world and a pretty old survival world, no.
