Said void fog was going to be removed in the last snapshot. Didn't happen. Just saying....
I don't see why it's an issue, it adds a lot of atmosphere. I mean right below that, is the frickin' VOID ya know.
Now for Creative stuff, I do agree it should be off. Though, if you mean you use bedrock for creative 'black' blocks, a simple texture alteration of another block is just as easy.
At the very least there should be an option for it. Regardless, modders will continue to meet our needs.
Well, I could argue about the option as it's such a tiny thing (if disabled for creative - as I love the fog for building dungeons and such to give off an uneasy feel, and it makes pvp quite interesting. Mind you, i use a mod to make bedrock do this above the lowest heights :tongue.gif:).
Though, again, a mod is your solution. Quick, simple, and easy just disabling particles, and I've seen it somewhere.

Here's a solution that would fix it for everyone. Void fog appears as normal unless the light level is brought above 8 (arbitrary level without bieng able to test it of course) That way people can make creepy dungeons and also light up thier mines correctly.

...Why are you mining BELOW Lava depth? x.X
Secondly, with the darkness at 0 light, it's practically impossible to see even half a block. You need torches to get that void view range up to 2-4 blocks so you can at least navigate without being utterly blind. Kind of negates the point, easier to just get a mod that adds a 'blind' modifier. :tongue.gif:
The fog makes the last few levels above bedrock near impossible. It has also ruined a LOT and I mean a LOT of custom maps and no not every one of them can be fixed by 'raising them up'.

I ask yet again. Why are you digging at bedrock depth? Mining? no. Inefficient, dangerous. Caves? No, they are filled with lava. Creative? Play Creative mode, where the void fog is supposedly (or going to be) disabled while in that mode.
Great.. someone else who thinks they have the ability to just /handwave this for everyone else, based on their own opinion..
Many people have built structures, in survival mode, going back to alpha, at bedrock level. Carving out huge caverns for structures, etc. Maps that existed for months, even a year or more, before this "feature".
Just because YOU don't approve of that, or do that, doesn't mean anything. They want to still have their hard work look like it did when they actually made it.
They have every right to complain about such a poorly executed "feature" that ruins their maps.
Asking "what's the issue here" is extreme ignorance of the actual complaints that have been made, clearly, numerous times.. or is simply an attempt to minimize and handwave this as unimportant, just because YOU don't see an "issue" here. (Issue? What issue? I declare you wrong to play the way you do!)
The biggest problem is the current implementation has been horrible and unrealistic. Anyone with any kind of sense or honesty can see that, and how it could be done better. In a manner that allows someone to use MORE torches to regain the visibility they used to have.
No, you CAN'T do that now. It's a stupid, fake looking "black curtain" that moves with you.
I'm sorry to be rude, but I utterly hate the kind of arrogant and outright dismissal of issues by others who simply share a different opinion. Especially when those criticisms are made with actual legitimate points to be discussed and recognized.. and you just want to go "you play wrong" and dismiss it all out of hand.

You claim that, yet handwave everyone else who disagrees this is a major issue. I have a map from the very early Alpha with stuff at bedrock. know what I do? Deal with it. it's like a bloody 5 block high area, and with torches, the light reduction is not crippling at all.
Why remove a interesting, unique feature, because a minority is angry that 5-6 blocks of their basement is darker then the rest...? That sounds very silly, and ignorant on your part.
My solution to this would be quite simple. Simply make it so bedrock 'fog' doesn't penetrate any non-natural (smoothstone, dirt, gravel, lava, water, etc) block. Place cobble, gray brick, yada yada as your floor down there, and whalla! No more annoying fog, while leaving its function alone.
And to clarify, I do see the issue here. But I see it in a broader light. It's not game breaking. It's a tiny aesthetic annoyance for a minority of players (like me) who have built constructions requiring 100+ height in depth to do. But to negate a feature that has tons of other useful features, and adds you know, atmosphere to the game because it's inconvenient, really isn't productive.
So before you come in and claim to know my views on the matter, pm me and talk to me first before making a fool of yourself publicly. I'll gladly talk to you in private about both sides of the view. :smile.gif:
I like the atmosphere the void fog creates. On the contrary to people saying that it ruins lots of adventure maps, It can enhance many as well by adding a much more creepy atmosphere to a dungeon map of something. It has both pros and cons but personally i think the the pros outweigh the cons.
I'm pretty sure it was removed from superflat worlds and maybe creative mode.
This thread should have stopped here.
Jeb said Bedrock Fog was removed from Flat Land generation. And ta-da, it is.
I just tested a default map in Creative Mode, bedrock particals are there but no darkening fog. Be creative and work with it or copy your structures to a flat land map with McEdit.
And for survival, haven't tested. Besides I like the fog, adds atmosphere.
So how did they lie again? Retorical question, let it die.

For most of us it's not about the concept. It's about the implementation. Which is really crappy.
- The Cubic Chunks Mod is back! Be a part of it's rebirth and Development.
-- Robinton's Mods: [ Mirror ] for some of his Mods incl Cubic Chunks Mod, due to DropBox broken links.
- Dungeon Generator for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod
- QuickSAVE-QuickLOAD for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod

I wish it would go or deminish with light level.

Us requiring mods to fix issues is the world's shittiest development.
I want void fog removed - it was poorly implemented and the atmosphere isn't worth it, especially when its static.
