SLIMES! Why can I never find them? I'm playing on my original world from Alpha, but I've traveled in the nether far enough to generate new chunks. I've been exploring for days now, and to no avail. I've literally found 2 slimes in my world since Alpha. What the brown am I doing wrong? I say Jeb adds a new spawning code to Slimes, because, let's be honest, they are way too rare. All I want to do is make a resist fire potion so I can swim in lava :sad.gif:
opinions? Advice? I know how to spawn them (well, the process at least), they just never spawn for me, ever.

Search harder, there still out there. Or, travel to the nether and kill some fire slimes. Last time I killed one, it dropped slimeballs. But that was on a server and I don't know if it was a plugin or not.

A few nether slimes have been seen on the server I play on and they drop nothing :sad.gif: 1 regular slime has been spotted :sad.gif::(
*makes house*
*digs out spot under bed to reinforce with stone*
*finds out there is ravine under house*
*looks in ravine to light it up, finds a slime and some monsters*
-New World
*Conquers the known minecraft world*
*Wants to make a sticky piston*
*Lights up a subterranean world so huge that moles would be impressed*
*Runs back and forth through 15 fully-lighted chunks*
*Gives up looking for slimes*
Slimes are just everywhere!
I always find at least one on every mining trip!
They are just annoying...
You really need to visit our server, we are inundated with slimes. I have just about a full large chest of slimeballs. We are making an underground tree farm, every time we go down to mine there are at least 4-7 large ones, and we will not leave without getting a full stack of slime during a mining session where you fill your inv. It is getting extremely annoying.
Make a room about 5 blocks tall at Y level 24, and then wander off and work on your house or something. If they don't spawn, try again. If you get something like Rei's Minimap, it becomes obvious how many chunks are slime ones.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Random acts of petty fanboyish hatred?

I took your advice and downloaded the minimap mod and I can now see which chunks are slime chunks. I've made three rooms at layer 24, all in different slime chunks, all 5 layers high. Let the game run for an hour and a half (while i was building :tongue.gif:) and still no slimes have spawned...
I beginning to think Slimes just dont like me :sad.gif:

Magma cubes drop nothing but experience orbs. Slimes spawn in specific chunks only. Spawn-specific chunks are still quite frequent. Best tactic might be digging down to 40m and below, and then dig tunnels at least 48 meters long in each direction, and then dig out a large room if you haven't come across any ravines or caverns by then. The odds will be in your favor then of finding slime chunks.

Since slimes can spawn in any degree of light and darkness, it may be possible they are spawning in any neighboring lavapool caverns and getting fizzled. So it might be your slimes are having really crappy luck.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.

So I have some HUGE branch mines. I dig a 100 by 100 square. this mine start at 12 and goes up a quite a few levels. Im thinking about just TNTing everything in between the mine layers and having a huge 100x100 empty room. Hopefully this will get me some slimes.

Go use the mcslimefinder website to locate a slime chunk. Hollow out a 3-block high area for the entire chunk. Then make sure you torch up everything you can within spawning range so hostiles don't take mob slots. Works better if you have multiple floors.
Wait around for a while. You should eventually get slimes.
If you do all that and still can't get them to spawn, then I would suspect it's something to do with your map. I know they claim that newly generated chunks will work normally, but I can't help but feel a little suspicious about it.
Edit:
P.S. As mentioned by others, also make sure you cover up any lava in any nearby slime chunks. It also helps if you try to find a place where there aren't any large caves with slime chunks in them, as the slimes might be spawning in those chunks instead of the one you're watching for them to show up in.

Slimes also glitch really really bad, and usually end up dying while being stuck inside walls.
Here's a VERY helpful tutorial for finding slimes :smile.gif:

So, yea it's you, not the slimes.
