Basically i hope that it gets implemented or perhaps a folder (like the texturepacks folder) were you can place custom generators. i would like to see Garamel and 343 live on. would you? Who else thinks this would be a good idea?
EDIT: many errors are being fixed throughout the OP and the Title
EDIT: This is not a suggestion, just a hope.
He should add it. Because 1.0 is a lost cause IMO. I'd much rather play in 1.7.3 without having to switch jars. It's just ridiculous how unspectacular 1.0 terain is even with the updated snapshot. It's just never going to be as good as 1.7, so the next best thing is screw the strongholds and structures, and give us 1.7 generation support.
Edit: Make this thread a poll so there is a slight chance we may press Jeb to do it with enough supporters. Because this would be the best thing he could add to Minecraft. I want this more than anything in Minecraft right now.
He won't do it. It would mean doubling the size of the game just so that some people can play one way and others can play another way.
If you'd like, think of 1.0 as Vista. Lots of people hated it, many stuck with XP (1.7), lots of people didn't care and just used it. Then Windows 7 came out and people loved it, despite it being Vista with some fixes. Once 1.1 or maybe 1.2 comes out, it will be Windows 7.

I'd like to believe you have yet to play the snapshot.
It looks like right now Jeb is tweaking it to be the old generator again. Some say the new snapshot doesn't live up to it but another one might make it even better then it already is.

I have and it's barely like 1.7.3. I do not like the new smoothed terrain. Until they flatout remove all the smoothing that came with the new terrain generator, it wont be superior to 1.7 to me. Besides I guess you guys don't remember the high possibility of spawning in a tundra biome, the unique chunk error pillars, and ever better new snapshot terrain.
Besides it isn't impossible to bring back. It just takes a lot of isolation. You put one generation in one child class, and the other generation in the other child class. You choose which child to inherit.
I would quit complaining about the new terrain if they added an option to switch with the old. I'm sure a lot of other people would do the same. It would be the ultimate fan service to do this one thing for us and I hope it is planned in the future. At least once a mod is made that does it, they could integrate that mod into the official release. So someone is going to make it happen one way or another and once it does happen, it should be included with the official release for a 1.2, 1.3 release.
All I hope is that people stop complaining about terrain when the update isn't even released yet.
I looked to the new terrain in 12w01a. The transitions are great (I didn't see all of them, but what I saw was great ), the beaches are quite better, but for snow, forest and sand mountains, there is sometimes (rarely) a very little hill. The terrain generator still need update.

I have got a feeling that the Creator of Cube World is going to help a bit with the Terrain gen in minecraft.

This is actually a good way to explain it to younger audiences.
That's probably how minecraft 1.1 or 1.2 is going to be.

THANK YOU!
Personally I don't care about terrain anymore, it's not my game to make the terrain better.
I just want to be able to build and release YouTube videos and minecraft projects.

At most, he would add a 'realism' option and a more varied option. Not everyone is clamoring for the old generator.
:sad.gif: well then it's time to ask one of my friends who knows java to start modding...

Hugely improved terrain, because Jeb is awesome.

But mostly everyone is.
In any case, I realize the impossibility of this idea. That's why there are mods!
I like vista .-.
I'd like to believe you have yet to play the snapshot.
And I like 1.0. We will get along great together :smile.gif:
