If I'm not wrong there should be a cap to how many mobs can spawn, and if you have a load of pigs and cows the spawn rate may drop. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If you keep traveling with animals you can use maps to know your spawn point, or just kill everything, then survive with what you have and wait fo rthem to respawn eventually.
Personally i dont see any problem with bread
Pros of bread
-Can be easily acquired in industrial quantities.
- as you keep farming it most of the wheat drop 2 seeds, that means you multiplicate your amount of bread every time you farm.
- It doesnt takes that much time to grow and with some bonemeal we can get enough food for days.
Cons of bread
- Only 3 hunger ( which is not so bad anyways ).
Pros of porkchop/beef
- 4 hunger
- Is easy to acquire but in small quantities
Cons of porkchop/beef
- the source dissapears
- needs constant breeding to get big amounts of them.
- needs to be cooked first ( unless acquired with flint&steel )
Bread only restores 2.5 food chunks(which isn't bad as you said) making you require more than one stack of it to equal the same efficiency as beef or pork. Right now beef drops at a ridiculous rate, if you spend 1~3 in game days breeding you should be able to get a decent number of cows each of which can potentially drop I think 6 beef was the most I've gotten off one cow with the least being 2 recently. Yes it needs to be cooked first, but you can take care of your hunger needs temporarily with another source, such as previously cooked meat or bread. Pork in my opinion is not as useful now due to beef restoring the same amount and being much more plentiful not to mention you can get leather in the process. I'm not arguing bread/melons are not good food sources, I'm just saying that breeding makes the more efficient ones easier to come by. Bread/melons are nice if you don't need to travel massive distances. Also some cons of bread you forgot to mention is you either need bone meal or time to harvest it's materials for, I know you mentioned the time and the bone meal in your pros but I see them kinda as cons guess it's just a matter of opinion. Breeding doesn't take up that much time or effort and you can use that wheat that your making bread out of to breed so you at least have a side supply of food from the animals if you feel like eating only bread and melons.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but there is one HUGE benefit to beef/porkchop over bread, in that the hunger saturation is over twice as high.
This means that not only will you need to eat MORE bread to keep up with someone eating streak, but you will need to eat MORE OFTEN because your hunger meter will go down about twice as fast.

Personally, I tend to use bread almost exclusively, and I have never had a problem with how often I have to eat. When I am going to go do dangerous things, such as getting blaze rods, I will quickly top off my hunger bar with a mushroom stew. Choosing bread over pork or beef has never caused me any problems or inconvenience.
I guess it's really dependent on whether you are in prolonged danger and really depend on the saturation bar, or whether you are attentive and top off your hunger bar whenever it gets too low.
Anyways, once again, my reasons for liking the breeding function is the increase of control in the world. The randomness involved in the old system of animals spawning and despawning is gone. We no longer have to pray to whatever you believe in to get the animals you need. Yeah, breeding requires more micromanagement than the old system but at least you can get what you need if you actually work for it. This is the reason people like it.
While I understand why you don't like farming, I don't feel that it needs to be removed as the subtitle for the thread suggests. It can probably use a few tweakings, like animal specific breeding foods, but not complete removal.
Wow. People will complain about the terrain for hours when it isn't that bad. Then when it comes to animal breeding. No one notices the issue. The game is becoming focused on farming. That is not what the game is about! It was better when you could roam freely. And everyone says it helps it become balanced. The game has gotten harder. We don't need animal breeding. It is a complete waste of time.

because the terrain complains are right, we miss the cliffs even if they are some we need more elevations, however animal breeding doesnt has any real problem, it is just your different opinion that makes you think it is something that should be removed
The game is becoming focused on farming.
It is good and not so complicated, put the seed ( or make the animals breed ) there, go mining, come back, Bahm, fully grown, and gives more control to the player
That is not what the game is about! It was better when you could roam freely.
lately i´ve been playing nomad just because i got a bit bored, and i´ve survived a lot, its on hardcore and its been like 2 MC weeks, i have food all over my inventory
And everyone says it helps it become balanced. The game has gotten harder. We don't need animal breeding. It is a complete waste of time.
most people consider the game too easy ( i dont agree with this ), it is right, we dont need animal breeding but it is good to have the option for those who want it, as i said it gives us more control, and it does balance some stuff

The poll seems to indicate that there is no "issue" with animal breeding in most peoples opinion. Yes, it does have some glitchy bugs and could use some minor improvements, but it is not bad enough to require any major changes at all.
If you consider animal breeding to be a waste of your time, then find or request a mod to "fix" animal breeding for you.
It doesn't detract from my playstyle at all. Theres enough initial spawn to rack up plenty of steaks/pork to sustain you for several hours gameplay.
It was a small investment to lure a couple cows into a fenced pasture close to my house, and occasionally breed them between mining or building. I must have 20 cows penned in there now and have yet to kill one. I've forgotten it was even there at times.
The only thing I find annoying is they can sometimes glitch through the fences.
Chances are if you dislike breeding you also dislike farming. Nothing wrong with that, to each his own. You might have to venture pretty far after a while to collect food though, and there is really no maintenance involved once you got a pen full of critters. Hunger requires effort to sustain either way. A shame you can only disable it with peaceful mode.
Cons of porkchop/beef
- the source dissapears
- needs constant breeding to get big amounts of them.
- needs to be cooked first ( unless acquired with flint&steel )

No, it doesn't at all. It actually adds a whole new aspect. A very large aspect.
All it takes out of the game is running around punching things for no reason.
It added more tedious farming (which we could already do with wheat) at the expense of the more active hunting. I hardly think running around punching things for food has any less reason than punching monsters, trees, or wheat.
Breeding can stay, but animals need to despawn and respawn like they did before unless domesticated. Taking play style options out of the game is not a good thing.

The problem with animals spawning and despawning like before while adding domestication is that you can have random animals spawning in your pastures... Imagine having a large pasture of domesticated cows except that pigs/sheep/cows/chickens that never existed there magically popped in.
Anyways, adding more control of the world to the game is a good thing. You cannot, to an extent, control animal despawn/spawning that was present in Beta 1.7.3 and earlier.

Domesticated animals could contribute to the spawn limit. If you had enough animals nearby then more wouldn't spawn.

I still think that there should be a button that makes animal respawning optional.
This I agree with, the baby's look demented because of their head, the game was already perfect, 'till animal breeding, (rage on me ALL you like, it won't do anything to make me quit the forums/game) I stopped playing for a while 'cause of the boring breeding system and went to Cobalt/Terraria because I didn't want to have to farm over AND over again JUST for a piece of Pork Chop and I'll like to be able to NOT have to breed ALL the time, for all you likers, put this into consideration, will it always be fun?
bottom line is kids need to learn to code so they can make their own mod and/or game. if they spent half as much time as they do bitching on the forums they'd be half-way there.
Thats survival dude, whats the point of making a big farm if you can just go out and kill all animals. If you dont want to farm then just hack some spawners.

So having an opinion on a game we all love is now bitching? Damn nature....

We shouldn't have to stoop that low. Once we go through the trouble of walking halfway across the map with wheat or goddamn animals shouldn't de-spawn! I get the feeling that people posting responses like this aren't actual "farmers"

That's a little extreme don't you think? lol I gave up on wasting my time to get animals only so they de-spawn. I just use that space now for a huge wheat farm.

Bread: 2.5 hunger, 6 hunger saturation

Minecraft is straying away from its two fundimental reasons I play the game. Mining and crafting.
You're just contradicting yourself now.
