The future is Bukkit and Spout. No use in discussing topics with people that didn't lrn2read. You're just going to get people who are going to tell you next to stop mining and crafting to make the game harder.... even though the game is called Minecraft for a reason.
75% li'l tiny children. I do not think the game is going to be made any tougher.
Yeah i went to minecon and was like wtf, whats up with all of the little kids with iphones in the yogscast panel? Wasnt exactly 9 year old material either.
Yes it is, I can barely play it anymore it's so depressingly easy. This should be considered a game breaking bug/unbalance. Like I said, most of my friends don't want to play any more since it's just too easy.
I find this odd because I have had the exact opposite reaction with the people I play with.
Yes, because your definition of 'should' is different than mine, which is different from hers, and his and every other person here.
Mods are the future of MC and the way you will get the game that YOU want. The API is the most important thing they can be working on currently as it is the one thing that is capable of making the game into what you and everyone else wants it to be despite your differences.
Enough already. Stop with these useless posts. None of you bring anything to the conversation. Every single one of you is blatantly ignoring the topic of discussion here. Mojang's programming etiquette has led people into this mode of thinking that you should just accept problems, inconstancies, errors and mistakes without voicing an opinion, and people have eased into this niche of learned helplessness.
Some of us complain, in this case, because we see what we consider a significant problem in the state of the CURRENT, UNMODDED game, being played as it was meant to be played; ie, using every tool, armor, enchant, potion, and block available to us.
I rather dislike the fact that you think I'm in some state of "learned helplessness". What if I just happen to like the direction that Minecraft is taking?
In general, I like the way the armor works. If I want to make things harder, I put challenges like "no armor", "stone sword only" or "only eat zombie meat".

Minecraft will never get boring for me. As long as I still have a creative mind, and mods/updates are still being updated then I'll be fine. I get what you mean though, mobs aren't as scary or as hard as they used to be. Consider yourself a veteran 8)
I agree that "Hard" difficulty should be a little harder, but that probably won't happen until they improve the AI.
But I don't understand... "Minecraft is imbalanced"? This isn't Starcraft. I understand what you're getting at, but the main goal of the game isn't actually to be "balanced", it's to... well, play with legos, pretty much.

There are two modes to the game: Creative and Survival. The point of Creative is to play with legos. Survival is supposed to be an actual game where the player is challenged to survive in a hostile environment. Balance is in fact required to actually create such an experience. If all Minecraft was about was playing with legos, there would be no mobs, no armor, no weapons, no hunger bar, no health, etc.
I'm not going to have any input on this other than a few words, that don't relate to the difficulty.
To the people who are speaking civil, I congratulate you. Now, I'm going to have to be a little more specific. To the people who aren't calling the other side of the argument inadequate or ignorant, or any of the sort, I thank you. I've read every single one of these posts, and there are the few posts I see that are honestly giving their opinion, but without trying to force it on others. When I read the first post, and his other few posts, with the other few people following him, I felt kind of... as if they were being hostile. Anyone with a different opinion, they had some sort of rebuttal (which is, yes a good thing), but they did it in a way that made me feel as if they were thinking they were always right. You have to take other people's opinions into consideration, and look at it in an unbiased way. Here, let me give you an example.
Amusing.
Gimping yourself is the solution to the game being easy...
It's like me playing chess, unable to find someone at my skill level, resorting to calling my 12years old sister, making stupid moves and letting her win, just to balance things out.
I fail to see how could anyone have fun in a situation like that.
Also in this specific case, I presume I can't enchant anything either, can't use potions, nor breed anything, just to spice things up, and basically losing half the content.
What an incredible solution.
Here, I'll point out a few factors. One, the sarcastic vibe I'm getting from this, makes it seem as if he's trying to make the other person seem stupid, and ill-informed. Two, he's making links that have a slight relationship, but don't actually relate in any main concept. How does chess, and playing against a new person, while you yourself are purposefully making bad moves, similar? I see your point, I really do, but it's not the same. In your situation, you say you can't find someone at your skill level. Why do you resort to play against your 12 year old sister? There are other options to choose from, and that is certainly not the correct option. Third, have you considered, just downgrading minecraft? It's not modding, it's not changing anything, it's just playing at a previous version. If you think that this is different, then fine. Like I said, there are other options to choose from. Play "Adventure Maps" that people have created. Play with mods (yes, you all have said this ruins the game, but I don't seem to understand how). Do something out of the ordinary, SET A LIMIT TO YOURSELF.
I can't think of anything else to speak of at the moment, but please, if you decide to respond, don't say that everything I'm saying has no value. If you choose to do so, you are enforcing my idea that you put yourself on a pedestal and deem every word you say is correct.
The feeling of "****!" from hearing arrows for me left after I've become used to the mechanics of the game. Hearing an arrow, or creeper, or enderman, or any hostile threat is no problem to an experienced player regardless of what weapons/armor you have. I'd be just as comfortable punching a creeper to death as a new player who started playing a week ago would be with a diamond sword. It isn't an issue of the game being unbalanced and easy, it's that the player has become conditioned. I have a few friends who bought the game just before official release and still get that "****!" moment from hearing spiders in a cave. How you handle the situation makes a bigger difference than how much damage anything does. If you're worried about how much damage arrows do, just play on hard with no armor.
You really shouldn't assume that every player wants the difficulty cranked up like you do, not everybody plays minecraft to just fight mobs. The best option would be for a new difficulty option - very hard - to be added where armor damaged reduction is brought way down, and mobs attacks increase in strength a lot more as well as their health.
Wear armor, and it will be easy you stated. You want a challenge, it seems. Do as me, dont wear any armor.
I also fancy the hard game, as you. No armor for me, and it seems, for you. Keep hardcore on, and when a creeper deletes your world refill your pipe. Later you shall have some fun to get.
Your joking right? Because current hard mode is a walk in the park man.
But also, if you want to build but survive... Just play easy? Like I said, easy is for casual gamers, but I should add that it's good if you want to build more and survive.
But honestly the current Hard setting is...just... Like Peaceful to me. Even with a stone sword, and leather armor. I mean, there is NOTHING hard about it.
I can walk in the Nether without worrying of ghasts, I can find a stronghold and kill a dragon in no time, I can take on a creeper battalion and survive. Makes no sense.
Iv been reading the posts and thought id add my 2 cents...
The game has difficulty settings to choose from. They're all easy. Maybe not to a new person or 9yo but thats what easy mode is for. If I was to start Hardcore mode I want to be scared and think "oh boy Im going to die".
You can argue to have mods, or play without using armour, but the game does come with difficulty settings. Might as well have them work the way they should.
If someone plays Hard mode and finds it too hard, they should go down a level. Not complain. Its a pity the Devs listen to them so much (from what iv heard).
Personally I think the game is fine but would like the harder modes harder. :smile.gif:
It's like trying to debate with monkeys here.
Funny, I haven't seen one. Care to post a link?
Who said self-imposed challenges can't be fun?
I understand the fun of making your own challenges. But I shouldn't be required to in order to make the hardest difficulty actually difficult.
Yeah i went to minecon and was like wtf, whats up with all of the little kids with iphones in the yogscast panel? Wasnt exactly 9 year old material either.
Yes I am. And yes this is one of those threads.
Your opinion. Not mine. I still enjoy this game. I've been playing since Beta 1.3 and have for the most part, quite enjoyed the updates.
No, it's not ruined. Jeeze...
I find this odd because I have had the exact opposite reaction with the people I play with.
Stop saying this. I know what you think. I read the first post all the way through. This is your opinion and definitely not mine.

What difficulty do you typically play on?

Your simplified interpretation of Minecraft's combat and gameplay is constructive and contributes to the topic of discussion
NOT
The combat isn't meant to be in-depth and revolutionary. The monsters are there to make survival... survival.
