But it is actually stupid to pay 25$ for a game when you just care about community-made mods.
Its not stupid to use mods , but this guy says he is not playing the official release , until the mods he plays get updated.
Tell me if that is not just stupid.
That is not stupid, nor is it 'just' stupid. If he likes the mods more than the core game then that is his prerogative. The money he paid for it is irrelevant because, like everyone else, he originally played vanilla Minecraft. Every game eventually gets to the point where you stop playing it. Maybe he got to that point and has now found a way to get more enjoyment out of the purchase. No matter how you slice it, it is not even remotely "stupid".

Buying a game because of its mods IS stupid. You don't go into a store, look at a game box and thinks "oh, this one has great mods avaiable...". In order to a game have mods, it has to first have a good vanilla. Take for example the TES games: they have great mods, but when ppl bought those, they were thinking about great vanilla content.
I'm not saying mods are useless, I do LOVE mods. But I just don't think the correct way of seeing a game is to look at its mods.

Who said anything about buying a game just for its mods?
He is not going to play the official release , the final game , the gold version of the game... until his precious mods get updated.
You cant say that is just stupid.
Its the official release , playing it is what you have to do , but this guy´s brain is derping so much that he prefers mods than the game.
Guy 1 : Dude , i bought this awesome game!
Guy 2 : Oh , what is the game about?
Guy 1 : IDK , i have a mod that changes everything , me so derp , that me has to waet til teh moders fensh teh updating teir mods so me can play teh game.
I'll wait until IndustrialCraft2, BuildCraft, Equivalent Exchange, TMI, Mo' creatures, minimap, nature overhaul, and optifine get updated. Till then I'll stick with 1.8.1 and I wont even touch the full release.
And to that guy who said the analogy about mods, you'll have to excuse me but your post was plain idiotic.
Sad really, shows how bad the launch is. Notch failed :sad.gif:.

Yes, I absolutely can.

You are really bad at this. Stop trying to come up with analogies or scenarios because they are hilariously counter productive to your point, whatever it is.
In order to play you have to buy. (Ofc you can go pirate, but let's pretend we live in a perfect world)
Right, but what if he bought it a year ago and became bored with it? Dusting it off to play some mods extends that purchase that would have otherwise been done and over with.

Then tell me.
Is it better to play the game... for the game , or just play the game because of the mods?

For ****'s sake, would you stop repeating yourself? You're saying the same thing over and over again, which is not improving your argument in the slightest.
Let the thread die. Nothing else to do here.
Stop replying to everything just to bolster your post count. The reason you have almost 2500 is because you suffer from a severe case of verbal diarrhea.

I never said that mods wouldn't extend the gameplay of a game, my critic is for buying games just for its mods.

not quite,
minecraft still owns, still is idiotically addictive and will be for quite some time my favourite game ever.
Though some random smartasses simply fail to see that some people have played their asses off on the "vanilla" release so much that we seek only to "extend" our minecraft expierence with some of those awesome mods out there. If there was anything significant in any of the new releases (here goes another OMGWTFBBQ UPDATES ARE FAIL NOTCH WHY U NO MAKE SENSEFUL UPDATES??!! RANT/) then i wouldnt have posted that stuff about not touching the full release until my mods were updated, but there is hardly anything new to this Vanilla game that I "already played my ass off so much" that will make me play it again without my mods.
Well it isn't what about mods that affect world gen, add new ores etc, then there is reason to wait.

It is stupid.
But please, for the sake of everyone's sanity, refrain from trying to analogize it.

I never said that mods wouldn't extend the gameplay of a game, my critic is for buying games just for its mods.
That depends entirely on what one enjoys the most. It's pretty simple.
And that was never even on the table in this thread until you mentioned it. Nobody is doing that.
TV is a mod for the radio...
Calling somebody a noob in a game like minecraft... :huh.gif:
and i will enjoy 1.8.1 till mods get updated
umad?
For this game, the mods since Notch did not finish it. I bought it back in Alpha expecting different, mods should fix that.
