That tweet was from a while ago. Who's to say he didn't change his mind? The ending was over-the-top and out-of-nowhere, but it was far from silly. Also your statement about the glass of water was really stupid. No, I'm not like that. You don't know me. Don't try to make stupid examples to try and insult me.
Read my post above. Even with this I fail to see how the ending loses meaning. I find it pretty childish how you guys are making a big fuss over how my interpretation of the game. Trying to squeeze out some argument that makes you "right". I can interpret the game however I damn well please. Even if Notch had said "The ending had no meaning" that wouldn't change a damn thing. The way I read it gave it meaning. I don't give a rats you-know-what what jerks like you think.
I stated before that I respected your opinion earlier. While I still do I find it extremely childish how you've conducted yourself in this whole thread. Whipping out horrible arguments and examples. I would like to reiterate that no matter what you say the majority is not always right and all you have said is in fact, your opinion.
that's funny, because this whole thread was started on the basis that anyone who didnt share YOUR opinion was IGNORANT. questioning everyone besides yourselves judgement. I simply do the same thing, expressing how i believe you're over analyzing something that doesn't really hold any deep meaning. and I'm childish? we're both childish.

That's not what I said at all. Claiming that all the ending said was "it's just a dream" and completely not understanding the rest was ignorant. People who outright said the ending "ruined the game" are ignorant.
No matter what you say you are in NO position to say the ending has no meaning or room for interpretation. Could it have no meaning to you or others? Sure. But I took the ending to heart and actually opened my mind to it's possibilities. I didn't blindly scroll through it all and claim the one thing it had to say was that "it was all a dream".
So no, I am not childish. Attacking someone for interpreting something different than you is, in fact, quite childish.

Why did I just read that whole fight?
In my opinion(which is all of your opinions mixed together), the ending is not bad, but there is room for improvement.

I hate to tell you might want to find an insult with a bit more, you know, originality :biggrin.gif:
I agree. Of course there's room for improvement. However for what it was, in an indie game, I was just completely not expecting it. Reminded me of the mind-blowing ending of Assassins creed 2.
Who are you to tell me I'm "ignorant"? You don't even know me.
Ignorant in regards to the game, not entirely ignorant as a human being. I assumed that was easy to understand.

****ing knew i was right!!! I feel sorry for the people that thought there was a deeper meaning :smile.gif:
Just because it's meant to be silly and over the top doesn't mean there isn't anything influencing it. When someone tells a joke do they not poke fun at what we all know to be messed up in some way? They use fun to nudge in a direction.
If people take a deeper meaning from the ending then it's good for them. Honestly if makes them a better person for interpreting it in a way that effects them. It's self improvement.
And from how you interpret it, well to be honest looks like you got nothing from it. No improvement, and as it looks a strong dislike for change. XD

Did you really just make an account to post here? That's awesome! What you said sums up much of what I was trying to get across earlier too :smile.gif:

Yes I had to! XD It's just my first time posting on the forums. I was lurking around when I stumbled upon this topic. Wanted to see what everyone thought of the ending. I'm a little disappointed. I thought people who played Minecraft were a little more creative and open than all this, so I had to share my opinion. =P You've done a great job defending yourself and your thoughts though. =]

I just need a toolbox, I don't want this pseudo-philosophical ending in Minecraft.
Nope. I may not understand Notch's intentions, but I certainly looked deeper than "Its just a dream". Far from ignorant.
And in response to your comment about Assassin's Creed, may I kindly ask you to shut your mouth. The philosophical and historical lore was always there. They didn't "run out of ideas for sequels". "Those who came before" were even mentioned in the first game.
The ending to Minecraft and AC2 are entirely different so I fail to understand why you mentioned it. I was simply comparing the shock each ending gave me. I'm not in any way saying Minecraft's ending is similar nor would I want it to be. I also fail to see how this ending affects your "toolbox".

Honestly guys. I think your all taking this a bit to far. Personally i loved the ending. As Crunchy said it is fantastic. It's also a bit meaningful and also quite "out there". As it refers to you as the player of a game, not the character. However just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are completely wrong. Skarl, of all the people who have posted on this thread, you are by far the most (I'm not going to say childish because I'm trying to be mature) outrages. Yes OP was wrong when he said "if others don't agree with him they're thinking is wrong" but that doesn't mean he's a complete idiot and very immature.
Finally. IT'S JUST CREDITS. I'm actually shocked that people are getting this worked up about it. All it is is a bit (a long bit, granted. But a bit none the less) of text. You don't even have to read it. You can just skip it and go on playing as if nothing had happened. Besides, it would take so long to collect all the armor, weapons, food and other items you need to be able to defeat the dragon, that by the time you'd done it the world would be getting old and boring because you would've done everything.
This is just my opinion. I could be completely wrong and just raving on like a lunatic. But I just thought I'd share.
So just chill.
Cowboy.

This is not a "I'm deeper than you" competition, this is a forum to discuss about the features of the game.
Some people may not take the time to write down everything they have thought when they saw the ending, and sum it up as "It's just a dream", but I think it's unfair of you to say those people are more ignorant than you are.
"Those who came before" was just a cliffhanger. You know, those things they put in games or movies so that they have an excuse to make a sequel and come up with some more or less interesting ideas.
I compared the endings because they're both sandbox games, and I noticed those two sandbox games' designers both went in the direction of "alternate realities".
I think it's stupid, more so for Minecraft, which is even more of a sandbox game. The ending affects my toolbox because it's there, I don't like it, and I don't want something to remember me that it's pointless to play Minecraft while I'm playing Minecraft. It takes away from the enjoyment for me. And I won't even mention the actual quality of the writing.
But that is literally all I've read from people who didn't like the ending. I can only assume that's what they think and that they simply don't get it. It honestly seems kinda ignorant.
Also, regarding the whole "cliffhanger" thing. The franchise was always intended to have 3 main titles in the trilogy (not including spinoffs, the third comes out next year). The AC universe is extremely intriguing. One of the most interesting piece of historical fiction I've ever seen.
Also it doesn't really affect your toolbox until you actually beat the dragon. That'll take you quite some time. You only ever have to read the text once anyway, if at all. I also fail to see how it's saying "it's pointless to play Minecraft". By your logic it's pointless to play any game (which is kinda true).

You guys can either like the ending or not. Either way it's still optional. So don't do it if you hate it.

An opinion with nothing to support it is referred to as an uninformed opinion. Even opinions are based off of something. Some train of thought led you to believe in said opinion. So there should always be something to back it up, regardless of how flimsy or solid the thinking is.
That's where discussion comes in, the questioning of the logic behind people's opinions, and whether or not the logic holds up.

Basicly taking some aleatory pics of our worlds to rememeber our adventures.
If you like it, or think it has a "deep meaning" or some **** like that, you are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
Shakespeare has a deeper meaning.
This is no where close to Shakespeare.
This is no where close to a third grade written short story.
Notch himself even asked for someone to write a "stupid, over the top, dumb ending for minecraft" on his twitter.
So there you go, notch even wanted it as a stupid joke.
So any "meaning" someone manages to squeeze out of this ****, is just WRONG.
Because all this is, is a poorly written, idiotic joke, that no mature person should ever think is deep of meaningful.
This is one million times better then notch's shitty ending.
BUTTT IT'S JUST HIS OPINION!!!!!!!1!11!!
HE DOESN'T NEED FACTS TO BACK UP HIS OPINION!!!!
That's what people will cry.
