Sure, I can see getting ice is a good thing. As well as grass and regular stone...
On the other hand, people keep mentioning how it can get ores. What's the point of that? What's the benefit of getting just the ore instead of just getting the diamond or coal itself?
The ice and grass are pretty cool. But what I really want is to be able to move monster spawners in tact retaining what they originally spawned instead of pigs.
For the amount of work it takes to get silk touch I think that would be a good enough reward for getting that far in this game.
gotcha...
Yeah, the glow stone and clay would be really helpful. Except clay is insanely hard to find x.x.
Not anymore, clay is freaking everywhere now, it's just almost always under water. Check the bottoms of most bodies of water for circular patches of it.

I'll never understand how people can not realize how amazingly broken that would be. If Jeb hadn't accidentally left that in, no one would ever have expected that to work.

So to remove your dreams, but he is remvoing it from spawners all together.

Ah. My home is in the snow biome so all the water is frozen...
I doubt I will put a priority in using it. By the way, I learned that written language in any form is a meme, language is a meme and everything spoken or written by multiple people after hearing or seeing it written by someone else is a meme. In effect, quotations are pure memes. Isn't that interesting?
I'd presume it would also let you move glass around without breaking it. Minor, but nice.
No it does not. It only works on tools, and only for the blocks that that tool uses. So grass can only be obtained by the shovel, and ore can only be obtained by a pick. Glass doesn't have a tool (well it does, but it is the sword so it can't have Silk Touch).

Have you even tried breaking glass with a silk touch pick axe?

Also you can get book cases and mycellium.
Be honest with you, I did not. I was going on the wiki info and the general fact that swords have broken glass faster since forever. I knew about the book cases and mycellium though.

The only thing the ability to move them does is save travel time and permit new trap designs in SMP. On SSP worlds, nix the trap designs as they'll be useless. Seriously, how is it "broken" for me to have a Skelly grinder within my base vs. having to set up a minecart track to the location the Dungeon originally generated? No matter how you hash it, it would certainly be an end-game ability to move Spawners, so what's the problem?

90% sure you don't need the "right" tool with silk touch to get something. Also, do swords really break glass faster or is that just the way the wiki reads. Cause the wiki lists anything that doesn't have a "right" tool as having a sword as the "right" tool.

I dunno either.

According to the wiki it has to be with the right tool:

It's not rhetorical, I'm actually curious why.

Also, makes Glowstone and clay easier to collect. Really wish it worked on stairs though...

Oh, I didn't even think of that. That WOULD be cool... does it even work?
Fun, sure, but definitely broken. :smile.gif:
