And how does it pose an issue to multiplayer servers?
You'll have people whining about their game preferences. This is already the case due to mods, but this would be much worst if vanilla Minecraft had a plethora of options.
Stop being a massive downer and look for solutions rather than slamming your head against the wall. Some people like the current mechanic, sorry they don't all think like you.
Solution: Don't have dougs **** your blocks up and make circles on the ground with them.
Seriously, guys. You're defending an NPC taking blocks and making a circle.
There's nothing scary about that. There's nothing challenging about that. It really doesn't add anything to the game. It just poses an irritation to anyone who even remotely wants to build cool stuff (which is kind of the whole point of a game that lets you modify the entire landscape).
If a player on SMP went to your house and started taking it apart and making a circle on the ground with it all, would you really enjoy that? Would you see that as a challenge? Why do you guys get so irrationally romantic about every little kernel of an idea Notch dreams up? Some of his ideas are not that great.
Dougs walking around taking apart your buildings, going HURRR DURRR and making circles with the blocks is not an interesting or mysterious or scary or challenging or valuable addition to the game. It's just plain ****ing stupid, I don't know how else to put it. I can't believe you guys eat this crap up.
It's not a challenge, survival wasn't ever a challenge, it's purposefully a nuisance because Notch wants people like you to cry more.

I don't think that's even a viable argument. If they don't like the server's preferences, they don't play it.
I like the little shock you get from the little surprises. I was luring endermen to the door so I can easily kill them considering they can't get through the door due to being three blocks tall. WEEELLLLLLP....
Oh Geezus! Thank goodness I shut the door in time! D:

To all you crying about Endermen because they could probably take away some blocks of your creation.
Simple solution: Play Classic. That's what Notch implemented it for. Building.
The whole game is made for building.
That's why the game is completely, utterly, fundamentally based around being able to modify every block generated.
Sucks that it's gonna be fixed.
At least some more challenge.

Some people like to build something from something instead of out of nothing.
As to the QQers, deal with it. You don't petition the govt to ask to remove raccoons because they scurry through your trash bags and leave a mess, even though they make no benefit to your life or challenge to your life.
Hopefully, the final release won't have them picking up every block type.
And it can be an issue. I've seen one video already where a village started burning because an enderman picked up a block next to the lava used by the blacksmith building :/.
I'm not sure why he decided they should pick up blocks anyways, doesn't really make any sense.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
It's not a solution if you're the only one that agrees with it you selfish asshole.
There's 7 billion people on this Earth. If finding compromise is too much trouble, maybe you should build a big, pretty tower before 1.8 is released and hang yourself from it.
Dude, answer the question. Explain why you like dougs taking blocks and making circles with them, because I don't get it. Do you think it's mysterious? What is it about having to take blocks of yours moved by an NPC and moving them back that you like? Why is this such an important thing to you? What possible value could this offer to gameplay?
correct. And they can only hold one block at a time. So if for some reason one of those brothers of herobrine "takes apart your buildings" it's only about 1 block.

It's an added challenge, your buildings are no longer impenetrable. They could take bricks without you noticing allowing mobs to get through and surprise you.
Now that your question is answered, what is your response?
I don't think that's even a viable argument. If they don't like the server's preferences, they don't play it.
I have a relatively large group of friends on campus that play together on a server, and we'd be split if there were more options. Perhaps it doesn't affect you, but finding servers that match your exact preferences when you want to play vanilla will get a bit annoying.
And for what? To fend off an NPC that just breaks your stuff and makes circles?
Seriously, think about what you're defending here.

1.find new ocean biome.
2.build house on island.
3.????
4.Profit!

Yeah, but it takes them a while.
it kinda sucks, I wish they make simple structures like a cavern system or dirt pyramids with a valuable block on top (ie gold block)
