Notch just released a image of the new swamp biome and he is asking for tips on how to improve it! here it is: I think there should be more trees and mossy logs.
1. the water should be like the grass in different biomes ,it should change the color , adding more green will make it better.
2. Less trees.
3. Deeper water.
4. more mushrooms.
And hey , do you see that.. at that side , behind the tree , at the green part , there is an NPC holding a rocket launcher.

The deep water would be cool, he should also add biome music (like terraria)
You can see my post in one of the other similar threads with about 10 different swamp pictures from real life and other games. All of them look like real swamps, with bigger trees, denser trees, and dark water, with multiple other things that make each one original.
I think it would look much better if Notch could make it so the trees grew really tall and the leaves met at the top to connect and form kind of a treetop canopy.
Also, if he could make it so only in the swamp biome it became very foggy.

I'd say more water and more trees. The water should be so much as of a lake, but it should have several patches of water. If he could darken the water, that'd be great. Also, algae and lily pads that rest on the surface of water blocks like snow does on solid blocks.

i love the treetop idea! would be amazing to have a house ontop of the trees :biggrin.gif:
They need to make willow trees! thick trunks (4 blocks in a square), really low, with lots of moss on them, or basically what is pictured above!
If someone throws dirt into water, the water should get dirty, so a swamp can have dirty water!
Or if that doesn't work, throwing leaves in the water makes it harder to move around.
The weather should be really foggy in a swamp too.
oh and if you dig one dirt, you go into water right away, which is basically what a swamp is, it's just an area of low ground, with lots of water.
What's the sand doing there?
I like the idea of mushrooms growing in the swamp. Maybe that should be like a mushroom hotspot. If you find a swamp, you are guaranteed a bunch of mushrooms.
Not a whole lot of animals should spawn here either. If you're adding insects or silverfish or something, lots of those should spawn here. Creepers should be abundant in a swamp too. :tongue.gif:
There should be underground caves of sorts underneath swamps, like a secret is that underneath swamps are caves that hold lots of rare minerals to mine! and these caves somehow aren't overflowed with muddy water.
And I don't know why, but if you're in a swamp, maybe your hunger bar goes down slightly faster? because of the change in atmospheric pressure or something like that...
uh.... yeah I have to say fog and lots of trees plus deep waters are really important in a swamp is all.
Swamps should be full of trees that go into water and mud, no dirt, mud, no sand, shallow and deep water, dark and murky water, moss and algae on the water and trees, sinkholes and barely any surface.

I like some of your ideas. But unless, you're coming down from a mountain biome, and into a swamp, there wouldn't be much of an atmospheric pressure change. You'd probably get tired more quickly due to the difficulty in trekking through a swamp. I definitely don't agree with the deeper water part, as the water in swamps is generally much more shallow than other biomes.
did i forget anything?
and yes mossy logs :biggrin.gif:
and more plants on the floor!

Yea i agree, it needs to automatically make your render like small when you go in it with green fog.

That is the first terraria idea that is good and makes sense.
+1 to you.
I seriously hope it's just a prototype...

Hello World of Minecraftia!
the mossy logs as someone said sounds cool
and ALLIGATORS!
