At the rate this is going it's probably going to be the Adventure Mode. Still fairly angry about the whole piston only thing. Wait..Experience Orb? I can't believe MC has devolved to this.
Why is everyone getting pissy about the pistons only update? Notch asked the community if we wanted Pistons early. We said yes so hes putting them in an update for us on Thursday. In no part of this did he say that the new update would back up 1.8's release date another month. Also a lot of people are saying that he is hurrying the full game along. Even if he is that doesn't mean there will never be another update again. He said himself that when the full game is out he won't stop adding updates and items. And just because he is adding another update that doesn't mean hes hurrying the game along. The number 1.7 is NOT A DECIMAL! Its possible for a product to go into Betas like 1.100. The only thing that the Piston update is doing is adding to the game! If you don't like pistons no one said you have to use them or you'll never be able to play Minecraft again! Honestly its ONLY an improvement!
Good job on seperating the threads.. Notch mentioned 1.7 would include bug fixes, and i often consider some of these fixes as features, which would need their own thread.
I am digging the 1.8 possibilities. Hopefully a faster way of generally mining is in there somewhere.
Yeah, it's not too early to speculate on 1.8 when the vast majority of the features in that update were originally planned for 1.7 to begin with.
I'm really happy that we're getting pistons early. I have sooo many ideas that I want to put into practice (such as entrances to my bases that are honest-to-Samus explosion-proof).
1.It's not going to be the adventure mode because:Why would Notch do it when survival isn't even finished, Jeb prove it in his twitter and because adventure update doesn't mean adventure mode.
2.Experience orbs most likely mean that in 1.8 you add them into your tools and they get better. How do I know this? Jeb said at the dreamhack.
3.As for piston only Mojang could have let it wait until the adventure update is ready. So basicly they aren't delaying the main update. At all.
1. Yea I know it's supposed to be the Adventure Update but they have lots of extra time so it was more like hoping they would pump out an extremely early pre-release with just a few components which would then be added to survival after a while.
2. Really? I am truly delighted by this. I didn't want The Grind to infect MC.
3. It just doesn't seem like this should be considered a major update (1.6 - 1.7). The update will consist of 2 new blocks, 1 new tool and a handful of bugfixes it's more like 1.6½.
I don't want or need this stickied. All the information from the 1.7 bulletin is gone, and removed and reorganized here; don't see how this is bad.
I agree with you on that front... however this should be the 1.7 discussion thread and the current 1.7 thread should become a 1.8 thread... it just makes more logical sense, that way.

1. I think it'd be tough to make a whole new mode that would be fun to play, however primitive, along with adding all the other features to flesh out Survival mode as he's clearly wanting to do. Frankly I wouldn't expect to see Adventure Mode any time soon if ever; but personally I think just adding the features to Survival to encourage "adventuring" is the way to go anyway.
2. I know! I really hope that's true (especially as opposed to it being traditional experience). Sounds like a cool way to reward exploration and Ye Ol' Monster Slayin'.
3. Okay, but it's just a label, ultimately arbitrary. Besides, it's the first number that's the major version, the second number is minor, if you go by common conventions. :wink.gif:
Notch just said that (on his blog) there's going to be new complex terrain features, at least one new mob, some interesting new combat mechanics, new lighting engine, (fancy new lighting engine) and some experimental new gameplay ideas.
Heehee, no problem.
I second that.

Lots of things, young boy. Like correctly write sentences, and defuse explosives.

As long as you keep it updated, its fine with me.
