Hey guys. Recently our favorite server was shut down due to unfortunate circumstances, and my brother and I are now looking for another vanilla SMP server.
What we're looking for specifically:
-No or little PVP elements
-At least some of an active community- Ideally a medium community, not too small or large
-No gameplay-changing plugins No, let me rephrase that. We don't want any plugins besides those that are practical and generally helpful, such as lockette and the like (/home and similar are not preferred but acceptable). We would prefer 100% vanilla. I hate walking into a server, seeing 10 different chat colors, automatic announcements, little titles behind names, factions and all this other crap. As a guideline, if I join the server and it is immediately obvious that it isn't traditional vanilla minecraft, I am not interested
-Backup/anti-greifing plugins
-Whitelist. (Ideal, but no whitelist also works)
We'd be much obliged if someone could point us to a quality server with these elements.
Hiya, I'm Rayne from Lowcraft. I think we sound like what you're looking for
We're a no-grief, no PVP server that is small-mid sized. We run PVP games every Saturday at 8pm EST but they are totally optional to take part in We don't allow any grief of any kind, and we have logblock to allow us to find who did grief, fix it and deal with the griefer accordingly.
We have a very active community, there is rarely a time when people aren't online. We have a friendly community and a great bunch of regulars!
We have plugins such as Lockette, to allow you to lock your chests and doors, and we have Essentials, so you can go /back and /home and things like that, but nothing that changes the game dramatically and nothing that requires any downloads or installations. There are only 3 mods we allow our players to have installed: invtweaks, optifine and rei's minimap.
We are also whitelisted, which helps keep out most of the trouble makers in the first place. To apply for whitelisting, go to this thread and fill out the application form
When you are whitelisted and join, we'll take you on a tour of the server and make sure everything makes sense and you already start to feel at home
I'm hosting a vanilla server with a small community that you might be interested in. The only plugins we have are things such as /spawn or /home to let you travel a bit easier, the reason for this being that we like to let everyone spread out far from spawn, but still be able to travel between locations quickly.
If you think you'd like to give it a shot, click the link in my signature, and you can read more. You can apply on that page, or just contact me directly via Skype, however I won't be able to answer PM's extremely often. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you online soon.

Hey,
i have a small survival server, with whitelist, on hard difficulty. It's not completely vanilla, but you may wanna check it out:
the world is custom made with new trees and biomes, the only modifications to vanilla gameplay are that creepers don't destroy blocks and endermen don't pick them up. The goal is to build huge cities. No PvP, no ingame commands. We do have a plugin for rollback, we don't use one for anti-grief, because that's not allowed on the server and everyone should trust each other. http://hmcp.enjin.com/
-No or little PVP elements
PvP is not our focus. You may both use /pvp if you have a blood feud.
-At least some of an active community.
700 active players per week.
-No gameplay-changing plugins
There are none. Creepers will blow up your home if you let them. There are no banned gameplay elements. You may protect your chests with private signs, (highly recommended, but optional.). There is no iConomy-like system. There are no building restrictions.
-Backup/anti-greifing plugins
There are backups, and the anti-griefing system is automated and highly advanced. Just build and you'll be protected 24/7.
Creepers will not blow up someone else's home if you lead them to it. Neither will TNT.
-Whitelist
On servers, whitelists are used to prevent greifing. However, this isn't as effective as using a heuristic based anti-grief. We have no whitelist, and the anti-grief protects 99% of the structures on the server.

Owner of non-pvp server survival.kreatious.net - No disabled mechanics, just simply Minecraft.
-No or little PVP elements No pvp
-At least some of an active community. At nights and weekends there are much more people on, earlier in the day not so many, so dont be discouraged if theres nobody on when you join
-No gameplay-changing plugins We keep plugins at a minimum none of them will effect you
-Backup/anti-greifing plugins I will protect some land for you to build and have chests
-Whitelist. This we do not have, however I do not really allow immature and mean players/greifers/hackers
Server IP: 72.26.196.186
If you wanna get more info open up the spoiler below.
I run a small private whitelisted bukkit server. Our primary world map, RiftVee, is survival with PVP. We have this great plugin called griefprevention, that allows players to set claims. Claimed areas are totally protected from harm even when the player is not logged in. We also have a couple of fun plugins that allow us to plant apple, arrow, and cookie trees, battle giant zombies, and breath underwater.
For variety, I load up other worlds accessible through portals. Right now we have Cake Defence, an awesome map built by Disco, in which you can battle successive waves of mobs in a cake themed arena. We also have FunWorld, a cool amusement park filled with rides, a snow battlefield, and a nice sized spleef arena. The park even has a nice hotel for overnight stays! We also have a CreativeBuild world for those itching to build something grand.
I know it sounds like a lot, but this is all on my small 10 slot server. There's about 25 or so players on the whitelist, and an average of 2 to 3 players log in daily. It's a hosted server that's up 24/7.
If you're interested, please pm me with your MC playernames, and I'll add you to the whitelist for a tryout.

Tried it out for a little while. Too busy for me; I didn't really like the business of the chat plugins, with all the different colors and whatnot, and it was overall just not vanilla enough for my taste.
well, some people like to seperate gameplay and server security when talking about vanilla/mods. A bukkit server with anti-grief plugins only, will still give "vanilla" gameplay.
He also said "We don't want any plugins besides those that are practical and generally helpful, such as lockette and the like (/home and similar are not preferred but acceptable). We would prefer 100% vanilla"
HI,
I've had people who asked for vanilla join my server and be happy, but I'm afraid to write out all the reasons why and waste my time talking about why you should join my group if you get there and leave in 5 seconds because you didn't like one of the plugins we use. So I will list the plugins that affect players:
lwc, mcmmo, herochat (basic configuration, no prefixes and set to default global), worldguard/rbuy.
If any of these are too much for you, then I wish you the best. If not, pm me that you're interested and I'll write up the rest of this post or we can just talk on skype about it.
Hey you may want to check us out as well, Semi-Vanilla, we do have a gods plugin but its not required to play at all. Most of our plugins improve on gameplay or add a small element of difficulty. Have a look.. great community too!
- 24/7,
- VERY friendly people,
- little to no griefing, plus LOTS of griefing protection for players
- some really really fun plugins.
- No PVP
and the server of course is:
evervale.pwnz.org:8080
Please note, if this does seem like a server you'd be interested in, you'll need to pass the maze, in order to get through the maze you'll want your web browser up on our website It's a public server, and ensures a certain level of caliber in our player base... the end result - awesome builds, awesome players, no griefers Ask anyone on the server how they like it im sure you'll get some positive responses!
It is on hard mode... with a few more challenging plugins running, so be ready for a challenge!

I was thinking of something a bit smaller, but I'll check it out when I get the chance.

Now this sounds like something I'd be interested in! Unfortunately I see it's down at the moment, but I'll DEFINITELY be looking into it when it's up!

I'm not really looking for a server with MCMMO, but thanks for the post, it sounds pretty close to what I'm looking for and might try it out.
Cookie trees? Giants?
Sorry, but that's very off-base of what I'm looking for.

Small vanilla server, new map started one month ago. You will find the rules and how to join there, if interested.

No mods.
Near-Vanilla:
mods
thank you.
