Will this laptop http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834216538 let me play and record Minecraft at 40+ FPS (32bit-64bit texturepack) in 720p/1080p (Fraps) for a continuous amount of time (Doesn't overheat and drop fps).
I know building a computer is way less expensive, but portability is what i'm shooting for.
My concerns ATM are that the HDD's chache is not specified (16mb+ recommended for Fraps), and a 7200 rpm DISK is preferred for Fraps. Will the 5200 rpm DISK work just fine too.
Also I'm not planning on attempting too overclocking anything so will the 1.8 GHZ i5 core cause
any issues with Fraps either. Thank you for your time.
Recording on laptops isn't good and I don't recommend it. There are several issues you'll run into. Heat, disk writing, and low framerate. If you're getting something for playing minecraft get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314183
I'm not even fully sure if Acer products have gone up in quality or not, but it's the best for the money right now. Unless you can find a Asus which is a little bit more money, then get that.
Nevermind, asus doesn't make A10 laptops anymore.
I have literally zero idea why you'd choose that over the topicstarter's machine - it has integrated graphics as opposed to the 740M, which is the best graphics solution for $500-700 laptops. Yes, the CPU is significantly better, as is the stock RAM, but that's pretty much irrelevant because - again - integrated graphics.

Saying that laptops can't game is not entirely true. I can get a solid 100fps in MC with max settings and recording with fraps on the laptop that I have. The laptop I have is a dell precision m6400 with a Core 2 Extreme cpu, quadro 3700m gpu, 8gb of memory, and 2 500gb 7200rpm hard drives set up in raid 0.
Not all integrated graphics are created equal. The A10's onboard graphics are quite solid performers in comparison to low-mid end dedicated graphics.
Well, I'm not instantly assuming "it's integrated, so must be low-end to the point it can't even play a 720p movie without stuttering like crazy", but it's still below average for this price range (as opposed to the frequently seen "multimedia" 640M/645M/740M/<AMD counterparts> builds).
Besides, it (being integrated) will run into various small problems - sure, that RAM drain isn't going to be any higher than 5%, but with Minecraft's bizarre optimisation stability issues may emerge.

External Hard Drives are pretty slow as compared to internal Hard Drives.

That's still not how a capture card works.
We never said that...
