Hello guys, I have recently got a very well paying job, and am looking to by a good PC. I have a price range of about $1000, give or take $100. I want a PC that will play FTB ultimate at about 100 fps on good settings (not nessasarily max) if this is not possible, just post whatever you think the best PC is that I can get for that price. I would also be like to be able to record on atleast normal render distance for FTB ultimate, at atleast 35 fps, again, if this is not possible in that price range, just give me whatever you think is the best I can do. Thanks.
*Note: I am not opposed to building a gaming rig, I do know how, however, I do not know how to pick out the parts. I'm more of a software guy, and only for iOS as of right now. If u need help with your iPad though, you give me a call. I can do pretty much anything
You won't be able to hit 100 FPS. Unless you have some kind of ungodly monitor that is amazing then your monitor can probably only display 60.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I used to have a monitor that was 120Hz but I decided to go IPS on my new build and it is only 60Hz. I can max 900fps on Vanilla, though I get about 200-300 max with mods installed. Fancy Graphics, Normal Render, OpenGL on.
Though with my new monitor, even though I'm getting 200 fps, it just appears to "stutter" quite often. So I use Vsync and it runs smooth on 60.
As for a $100 budget for Minecraft, that's a bit absurd. My sister manages to play 60fps on Vsync and she has one of those cheap $3-400 HP laptops.
But since you have that much money to spend, I'd go expensive on areas that will last you; a case, power supply, RAM, Motherboard maybe, etc. There's no need in buying an expensive GPU for Minecraft because really the expensive ones look no better, it's just about performance past a certain point.
Intel i5-3570k
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Motherboard
Some good RAM, nothing that says gaming or platinum or whatever marketed to kids who buy $3,000 worth of their parent's money on wasted performance to play a few video games. Crucial Tactical lines are superb. I'd go with Tactical Tracer.
A HDD. Only invest in a SSD if you can afford to install everything on it. Just an OS on a SSD won't make of a difference; nothing noticeable anyways. Western Digital Caviar Black or Seagate Barricuda are great HDDs. Crucial M4 or Samsung 840 Pro are great SSDs.
A power supply. EVGA SuperNova has quite the appeal. I own would and will never use anything else. I can't even hear it and it's quite the handsome fella.
A case. A solid steel case is better than the aluminum window LED pimped "gaming" cases most people buy. Fractal Design, Inwin, Lian-Li, and NZXT all make nice cases. Could take a step further and invest in some Noctua fans. I have one on my side panel and I contemplate on making it an exhaust to keep me cool.
Some other things, get a mechanical keyboard. A Logitech G400 is $30-40 and has a perfect sensor; buy it than some $100 "gaming" mouse.
You don't really need a whole lot if you will mostly play minecraft, ie no need to get the titan-version of any card at all, even a GT 640 would be way more than you need for minecraft.
Also you do not need an i5, (Crysis 3 is happy with an i3)
8GB RAM is more than enough for Minecraft, but it's nice for multitasking.
EDIT: Also, I'm assuming you will be using Windows? because it is not free. (besides piracy is in no way supported on this forum..)

I am going to play other games, and I would like to play them on good settings, Minecraft is just the priority. I'll be playing ftb mostly also, and that can cause a lot of lag. Also, I will be buying windows if I have too. Hopefully windows 7 if I can get it.

Are you planning to buy the components and build it yourself, or will you buy a OEM computer if possible?
There is no point in listing a bunch of components if you will only pick from the computers in the store.
Also will you be playing demanding games as Crysis 3?

I am fine with buying a stock computer, but building it seems like the better way of doing it to me. That way I get exactly what I want the first time. I doubt I'll be playing much Crysis 3. I'm more of an RPG guy. It does look pretty cool though.

Do you have any preferences about which store you would like to buy the parts from?
ie, if you have had some good experience with certain stores or if there are any physical stores nearby rather than ordering online, although I think it will often become cheaper ordering online it's really nice to take a look at the products that will be visible (ie case, mouse, monitor(s), keyboards as well as testing out the speakers in some stores that allow it)
Another thing that I haven't really though of yet is :are you going for a multi-monitor setup?

I live in northern MI. There aren't any places here that I know of where you can buy PC parts. No, I am only using one monitor. I may want a second eventually, but I doubt it. If its going to cost extra, then I don't want it.

Also do you have a mouse and keyboard that you are happy with?
I've actually decided to go with the Alienware Aurora r4, and customise it if need be. I have I guy where I live who will sell one to me for a good price.

Second of all, alienware and other prebuilt "gaming" PCs are a No-go on this forum, build one yourself to appease to JPPK and the other regulars.

Nah. I'm fine with the prebuilt, like I said, I'll probably customise it anyway, and also, I've done a lot of research, and this looks like what I want. Sorry if it's not exactly what you want, but it is after all, my computer XD

You can do as you please but you wont be getting the best Price / performance as possible. Your money though I'd widely suggest building something with a 7970 or a similarly priced NVIDIA card.

Forcing? I am not grabbing him and making him press purchase, though I definately am trying to suggest him to buy something worth the price. I actually care about the value of money and think that buying something incredibly overpriced is bad, but as I said, he can do as he likes.

But I'll be able to stay at a constant 60, or will it be constantly falling and going back up?
