Yeah. no, don't use this as an example. Kids have been expelled for opening the command prompt and not even doing anything with it.
Seriously, schools have no idea how to handle this sort of thing, and they will suspend and/or expel you. I've seen it happen numerous times from seemingly "innocent" activity.
This is basically saying "I've murdered numerous people and haven't been caught, I'm even on the police force. Nothing really even happened".
I got caught, but they hardly punished me. He was overexxagerating when he said he will get expelled.

No, he really wasn't.
The school computers are government property.
You are tampering with government property.
This is how the law and courts see it. This is how you will be treated. This is why expulsion/suspensions happen for "harmless" things like what you are doing.
Seriously, it's not worth the risk. There's no reason to be ing around.
I don't know how else to get this through to you kids.

Literally the only thing I do on school computers is mess around with command line stuff, programming, finding vulnerabilities, etc...
Not once has a teacher cared. I even showed off Ubuntu on a school computer (that I was live booting) to one of my teachers.
I can access anything as an administrator due to them not blocking VBScript.
The boot order goes USB > CD/DVD > HDD which is fun ;D
Also, the BIOS doesn't have any passwords, and the admin password is semi-common knowledge to the more computer savvy people at my school.
Everyone who knows me totally trusts me with computers and no one cares what I do.

I'd take them to court if I ever read about something like that in my area.

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!

OK, but was it your computer the kid was doing something they weren't supposed to on? No? That's what i thought. Schools usually get a pretty limited budget on things like computers and technologies and they don't want to spend more because some kid decided they wanted to mess up the computer. Even if the kid just opened up command prompt, there is literally no use of command prompt for common school activities so it doesn't need to be opened.

Who gets to decide what is considered "common school activities?" What if they just wanted to use the prompt instead of Explorer or whatever?
If they weren't doing anything bad, they shouldn't be punished.

You are basically saying this.
"I tampered with a police car by siphoning gas, and stealing the spare tire."
>Hey, that's illegal! We're going to arrest you for that!
"Illegal? Ridiculous! I'll take you to court then we'll see what's ilegal!"

Not really.
It's like holding a gas siphon near a police car and having the tools to remove a tire.
I don't remember the Bill of Rights giving anyone the freedom to use the property of others without restriction.
Exactly.
The bottom line is it is not yours. None of this is your decision to make.
So for that few minutes of entertainment at school you risk being expelled, and make people like me's job far harder and more annoying than it should be.
If they weren't doing anything bad, they shouldn't be punished.
What is "bad"?
Bad is what the school says is bad because they own the computers.
Also I used to clean about 8-10 laptops out per day of just malware and adware because students wanted to get on facebook or install custom themes with adware on their laptops none of them thought this was bad they were fighting against the man.
A better analogy would be you with a knife covered in blood, standing over a corpse dead from stab wounds and your finger prints all over it.
These are both quite extreme (though I did +1 the first one)... I'd say it's like breaking into a police garage, while holding a gas siphon and having the tools to remove a tire.

Which is still very much illegal, and the intent to do something illegal is also, illegal, at least in the court's eyes.

Well yeah, though it's not like you've already done anything, except the breaking in part. Though, I probably should have changed my analogy to "walking into an open police garage, while holding a gas siphon and having the tools to remove a tire", as simply opening cmd isn't breaking into anything.

It's still illegal, as it is trespassing.
Opening cmd is not what you are supposed to be doing. You are there to type something up or do an assignment.
Lets put it this way.
These machines are set up in such a way that they are as secure and free from malware as possible for their intended purpose, education, typing things up, and browsing the basic internet.
Then one of you throws on something "harmless" like firefox.
Congrats, you just ed over any of the security precautions that were taken.
Yes, they use IE, but that is because IE is set up in such a way that it protects from malware and other problems. You installing firefox makes those useless.
Because you install programs you are not supposed to, you are opening the computer and network to malware. I don't give two craps how "safe" you think it is, it is still going to get the computer infected and cause problems.
This is set up in this manner for a reason.
Again, I have no idea how else to get this through all of your thick skulls. It's really starting to irritate me now.

Nope, our rather large school district only has one IT guy >_>

Not at all, from the school's perspective.
Again, my line of work, I've seen kids expelled and suspended for this stuff.

I'm just gonna leave it at kids need to grow up eventually and the profanity filter doesn't help get the point across either.
By running ANYTHING you are not supposed to, including cmd, you are doing something wrong.
How do none of you understand this? FFS
