I'm going to build a comp with the following specs on Saturday, and I'm wondering if it will do what I said in the title. If it does, how much further will it go? If not, how much does it lack by?
Processor: Intel i5k 2500
MB: asus p8z68-v-gen3
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Blue 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive - WD5000AAKX
Moniter: LG 24" HD Monitor
Graphics card: gigabyte gtx 560ti
There's also the Monitor/keyboard and mouse, but there's no effect from them.

Not sure if it still works. But you can use Ladders as sort of a way to get up higher places. - - Quoted from a post by Unit7

Don't think you will need 16GB of RAM, but it should.
Yes. That build is way overkill for just Minecraft.
But if you are planning to be playing other high-end games such as BF3 and Skyrim, then that build is perfect.
One thing, lower the RAM from 16GB to 8GB and save some money. You'll never need that much RAM unless you're going to be doing major video editing/rendering. But from the looks of it, you probably won't.
Already bought the stuff. It's not just for Minecraft, but that's a bonus.
Also forgot to mention that I'm going to overclock the i5 from 3.3 to 4 ghz. (I made a typo, it's a 2500k, not a 2500)
Eh, something that high-end, should've at least put in a 1TB HDD from Seagate or Samsung. Western Digital has same quality HDD's as Seagate, but they sell their Drives for higher. Even a 60GB SSD for OS Boot-up would've been good.

Hmm, that's an interesting thought... I was considering an 1TB, but I'd never fill it up. (Not much of a downloader). Those SSD ones are really fast aren't they? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, they scan the HDD much faster on the boot up, making the boot up much much quicker, right?

Yes, you are correct.

Where do you get your info?
no it won't
Yes it will. The GTX560 Ti can handle demanding games such as BF3, Crysis, Skyrim, etc on Max Settings. Where are you getting your info?
