I'm trying to play GTA IV on my custom built PC. The only problem is, is that it set the graphics to low for some reason. And Rockstar games made it so it's locked in place and you can't change it -.-
Why the hell would you need more vram when you have pretty much the max you can get for a single gpu card and the game is a few years old now, back then there were mostly only 1gb cards...
Play around with settings, google it, run as adminstrator etc to try to get the settings to unlock.
You'll be running into some serious VRAM issues with that setup.
Not really, I seem to max out at around 1.9gb ish vram used, which is 800mb on each card. I probably would run into vram issues if i had 5830 crossfire for example, but it wouldn't be anything major though. Most people don't game at a high resolution like 2056 x 1536.
Are you playing a pirated version? Legitimate versions can change the settings no problem.
As for it showing VRAM being too low or something similar, it only estimates. It doesn't actually use as much VRAM as it says.
ex: My 560Ti was able to run these settings at a constant 70-90FPS, even though it said there wouldn't be enough VRAM the game was only using around 830MB:

Hahaha, no. No not at all.
Most games below 2560x1600 rarely use more than 900MB of VRAM.
I played the pirated version before I bought the legitimate copy and everything worked fine including the graphics settings. I guess it depends who cracked it though.
Also, about the VRAM, apparently bf3 completely maxed out @ 1080p hovers at around 1.2-1.3gb VRAM, and maxes out at about 1.5gb. I guess we are at that time now where we need 2GB of vram. A 7850 would be fine with 1gb but I think anything over it would need 2gb.

The VRAM of your cards isn't added together in Crossfire. You still only have 1GB of usable VRAM.

We've been at the "2GB standard" since the beginning of summer, really.
I'm still regretting not going the extra $15 for the 2GB card, but I'll be upgrading it anyways in a year and a half and it should last, easily.
Demanding titles can eat more than 1.3GBs of VRAM quite easily especially at that high of a resolution.

I know its not added together, 1.9gb used total which is 800mb per graphics card. I said 800mb per graphics card because I kno vram isn't added together when you crossfire.
This is my graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102963
I seriously don't want to buy a new graphics card just to play GTA IV..
(Also I heard I need more VRAM? [Video Ram])
Any ideas?

Thank god I still have 5770, and max out all games
GTA IV was a bust anyways, the dropped too much from the previous versions and have lost most of my respect.
At what, 1024x768?
2056 x 1536 actually.
Its crossfire'd though

At 2560x1400 and above maybe, but below that?
No, it's legit. I bought it on Steam.

For each card, yes.
It's still technically 2 GB even if they can't actually "share" vram.
