I've been thinking about replacing my old PS2 with an Xbox 360 for quite some time now. I'm not completely sure though, so i'd like to hear your opinions on it. Is it worth the money, can it play all the games without lag, is it reliable, etc. Now, before you say "Get a PS3" (i know at least some of you would), i'd like to point out that my family already has one, but it's in the living room and is frequently used for watching movies, so i can't just take that.
Basically, i'm looking for a HD game console for use in my own room - i don't really like being distracted while i'm playing. There's just too much action in the living room. I'd like to get an Xbox because there's obviously no point in having 2 PS3's in one house.
One more thing - if you don't actually own an X360, then you have probably come to the wrong place. I'd like to hear actual owners' opinions.
I'm not really sure what you are asking? You say you don't want to get another ps3 because "having two is pointless", so that only really leaves you with one option, if you want a console. Buying a gaming PC will give you a much better experience.

Well that narrows it down to the PS3 or Xbox. You don't want a ps3, so the only choice is xbox

No, it will probably break in a short period of time.

Do you have any personal experiences to base that statement on? Do you own one?
Every single one of my friends who owned an xbox has had it break on them within a couple months.

Gaming PC > X360 any day of the week, most consoles (including 360) only render at 720p as has been pointed out, and the graphics look awful compared to PC ports.
Oh, and you have to pay for Xbox Live which is a total ripoff. I mostly only use my 360 for exclusives (Forza, Halo 3)

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!

That's only if you want to play online. Xbox Live Gold requires you to pay, Xbox Live Free does not.

I also have a Playstation 3, along with the Xbox 360. I play Minecraft PC atm
Regardless, why do you want to game on a console anyway?
Because some games aren't available for PC. I'd mainly use it for exclusive games.
I know a PC is better than an X360, but i'm looking for a replacement for the PS2, not the PC. Almost all of you failed to see my point and were like "U alrdy haz pc, y u want xbox?".

Now, could someone please lock this thread.
For the record: I bought my ps2 in 2005, 360 in 2008, PS3 in 2011

Mine hasn't broke in over 4 years.
I own both 360 & PS3 as I don't plan on getting a gaming pc at all. Both can do HD and have onine services and diffferent exclusives.
Won't be out for a couple years or so though. So waiting till then is pointless as you'll miss out on a lot of games released prior to Xbox 720 & PS4.
The Nextbox is not more then a couple months from announcement. MS contacted AMD the year before last to work out some designs for the hardware.
I've had mine for nearly three years and no problems here. However I don't recommend getting a 360. I smell a new gen on the horizon.

the x360 isn't hd, its 720p, which isn't true high definition.

Yet another reason to just get a SFF gaming PC (not Alienware X51)
