Firefox is a CPU hog. That you cannot argue against.
Nearly no web browser extensively uses the CPU. The amount of processing power you need to open a page on firefox is the same as google chrome and Opera.

Well I will argue I would like some proof.
Out of personal interest I decided to run a small test.
Both Chrome and Firefox running the same benchmark that does not using any extra plugins so its all browser.
Not really a comprehensive test but I am happy with it.
Highest I ever gotten Firefox to by normal browsing is 600MB. Honestly have 0 idea how others have issues with its ram usage. Chrome is worse on ram imo then Firefox by what I see on my computer.
I can end up running anywhere from 30-140 tabs in a session. I also run adblock, fasterfox, session backup manager, and some others. I have 12 gigs of ram, because I'm in between upgrades. I'm ordering a new mobo and a couple new sticks of RAM soon.
You have an addon that has a memory leak. Disable them one at a time until you find out which one.
Firefox is hardly a memory hog, especially compared to Opera and Chrome. Unless I have over 30 tabs open it never goes above 500-600MB.
AFAIK, when I open a tab the memory it uses increases by X amount, and when I close the tab the memory use doesn't go down, so at the end of the day I have an entire days worth of web browsing in my memory. I'm not sure if its an add on or just firefox itself that has the problem, I think the only addons I have is dwhelper and adblock. I'm on firefox 4.0.1.
You must have some sort of bug or something...
Want another resource hog? Look at skype, it is also below me.

Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.
Has many tabs, Youtube vid play in firefox. Can leave it sitting, over clocked 4Ghz i5 only uses maybe 1% across cores if barely.

Why? It just gets overly complicated keeping that many tabs open.

I hope you realise we are on firefox 15 right now.
oh wow...
No wonder you have a memory leak, you're using outdated addons as well.
