I wasn't sure if this really belonged here or in the General Gaming section. Given that it's not an actual game and its intention is to show of technological prowess, I felt this section was a bit more fitting.
I am not impressed its a tech demo its ok cool at most and defiantly not incredible. This being a tech demo means its optimized for a very specific set of hardware and the physics are all scripted the movement of the people is scripted. The textures are meh once you get close my Skyrim install has higher res texture on some of the buildings ect.
For example this demo from last year.
Looks better then that but its soo optimized that demo can only be run on Nvidia hardware even tho they said it could run on a 6970 theoretically.
I don't really see anything cool or new or impressive at all in this demo.

That tech demo is for whats replacing the one in the video I linked.
I am not super impressed by it either but the screens in that are ment to show off some fo the new lighting effects not the engine as a whole I want to see that more.
Of course its optimized and using scripted events, that's the entire point of a tech demo. The Samaritan Tech Demo is also extremely impressive, but it's a lot smaller in scope than the tech demo square showed off; not to mention the particle effects and lighting seem more impressive in the Luminous tech demo. I really don't see your point here, but hey, be as unimpressed as you want.

My point is as a techdemo its unimpressive not really improved over past years.

I disagree. I think it's a few steps higher than the Samaritan tech demo. What sort of difference where you expecting over the change of one year anyways? Even if comparatively you don't find it much better, it's still impressive regardless.

Quite a bit the samartitan demo can run on a single GTX 580 or 6970.
I would expect a lot more from todays techdemos now that we have the 680.

The Samaritan tech demo runs (supposedly) on a single GTX 580 after heavy optimization. You don't know what the Luminous tech demo is running on or if it can optimized to a similar degree. Furthermore, you're fooling yourself if you're expecting dramatic leaps between the GTX 580 and GTX 680 when it comes to tech demos, not to mention this tech demo is much larger than Samaritan ever was.
If Sqeenix says it's real-time rendered footage, then I'm inclined to say it's not. They NEVER show anything even vaguely resembling gameplay footage. They, more than anyone else, are infamous for passing off pre-rendered cutscenes as real-time.

It's confirmed by Square to be in real-time.

This
But I think http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/05/ff_unreal4/all/1 looks rather sick (much more my style). I can only wait and see what happens.

Honestly, people.
